I needed this, I’ve been training for the past 6 months and love it. I was told I needed to stop immediately after I found out I was pregnant by family and friends
I really hope Micha doesn't read these comments :( poor woman getting online doctors telling her what to lift as if she's some silly fragile girl. what if its actually worse for her body and her baby's development if she goes from working out 100% then suddenly dropping to next to nothing, I mean, just walking? there needs to be more research into exercising while pregnant, obviously she's gonna slow it down even more when she gets closer to the 9 month mark, ya'll need to back up out of their business.
This is an idiotic comment. These are not just online doctors that said that but, just as she admitted in the video, presumably board-certified physicians told her not to lift any appreciable weight. "Listening to your body" and all is fine but when you risk compromising the health of the child, it's better to err on the side of safety. Her comment of "just ignore everybody (including the doctors)" is just idiotic and terrible advice to give to would-be mothers. A fucking crossfit PT dude isn't qualified to give any medical advice and broadcast it to hundreds of thousands of impressionable viewers.
I love this video! Please note. Not only do doctors give advice to err on the side of caution- but also to err on the side of facing a potential malpractice suit. Imagine if the dr did advise and say: keep lifting and just lift what is 50% of what you usually lift. Then she hurts herself (and that in doing so, the baby is hurt). She could sue her dr. And win. Imagine what that sounds like in court? A dr. Giving the ok to a pregnant woman to powerlift over 100lbs+? Hopefully videos like this will encourage more medical research so that one day, we WILL have the data to prove that exercising at a degree that is moderate to OUR current level/strength is not only fine, but great for pregnancy. So that doctors won't be afraid to encourage more than just light activity because now they have research they can cite to back themselves up.
Awesome!!! My doctor told me keep going until my body tells me to stop. You look amazing, and you're doing a great service to the baby by being so active. Studies show a baby born to an active momma has brain activity of a 4months old baby born to the of a sedentary momma. You go momma!!! Very inspiring!!!!
This is amazing! I am 28 weeks and weight lifting was a lifestyle before I became pregnant. And it never changed! I modified and do exactly what my body says I can do and no more! Especially the anxiety aspect! We went through ivf so I couldn't work out for 4 months during treatments and was the most depressed I had ever been! Getting back into it was hard but I stayed focused and made it happen! This is great! We are not disabled, just pregnant 💙💙💙
Currently on my third pregnancy and ALSO working out hard! I rode a bike, did acro-yoga and calisthetics while pregnant with second and i just got pregnant with my third and I had gotten into powerlifting- i've been training before i found out i was pregnant! People need to mind their own business, pregnant doesn't mean handicapped- i wanna see some of them dudes do half the shit a pregnant woman does, it's obvious that society is too afraid of strong women. (also her baby was born and guess what, he was FINE)
thank you so much for posting this! I train 5 days a week and my doctors told me not to do much my first Pregnancy! I'm gonna lift through this second one same as I always have! Love it!!!
if doctors encourage exercise they could be held responsible if injury occurs, so the safest route for them and the mother is to say "no exercise" no matter how fit the mom is
It would be better for the doctors to encourage people to lift the fucking weight so that they don't end up with diabetes and walking with a fucking cane. That's why i like powerlifting. It feels like many in the medical industry deliberately tell people to be counter productive, that way they rely on more medicine, smh.
@@DeniPencl idk they'd ask me what I do for exercise, I'd say lifting weights and they encourage it. Of course they know I've been doing it before pregnancy.
The comments on this are disgusting you should all be ashamed of yourselves. Please delete some of these disgusting harassing comments on here I do not want to see women get harassed in the comments. I agree that you should scale your workouts and maybe not go heavier than the doctor says when you're pregnant but you don't have to stop moving for 9 months just because you're pregnant. Movement is good for the baby.
Very true, but she can't really follow the doctors' advice, since it only pertains to the average woman. Micha on the other hand is in the upper percentage of women when it comes to fitness and strength, so 50lb is too light for her to get any helpful exercise with. For her, she is most likely doing endurance building lifting and lower/upper back strengthen exercises, which are 40-60% of her max, but high reps. I can tell you for a fact that she won't be having any back pain during this pregnancy.
It is wonderful to see a different perspective on exercising while pregnant. The traditional doctors warning of don't lift/ only walk are always something you hear, but I don't think that is ever taking into account the individual. It's more a generalization. Great video!
Wow, so many self appointed judges on these comments. She seems very healthy, baby is healthy, she's showing you can do it with some moderate adjustments. Thanks for the encouragement Micha!
To all the neigh-sayers out there: there is recent and increasing evidence that women SHOULD be exercising during pregnancy. The key is to be mindful of your body and to make careful adaptations to your existing routine (if you have one). There needs to be more videos like this, and I for one am loving training during my pregnancy 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The reason for obesity during pregnancy is because woman arnt doing enough of this. i strongly believe there is no excuse to not staying active, during pregnancy you have to be active, not just for your health but for your baby as well. your baby will grow stronger and have less chances of becoming obese when she or he gets older. doctors have forgotten what woman use to do during their pregnancy, and it was not sit on the couch or eat whatever you wanted
there is something id be cautious of as the pregnancy goes on, the female body releases elastin and she could become hyper mobile - make sure movements are just in ranges she know she can work in and is used to and can control & the sumo deads may be fine for now but lateral movements involving the hips can become ourtageously painful too. just some caution but i totally agree with what she is doing! :)
I hope to be as tough as Micha once my time comes to have a baby living inside of me, I've heard that actually having energy to head to a gym everyday is nearly impossible when pregnant so I take my hat of to you Micha!!! This video was very informative and encouraging, thank you!!
Damn, my midwife told me to continue what I was doing and don't wind myself pretty much. I did that. I still do my 40 minutes of cardio 5 days a week with leg and arm days. I feel amazing and my baby has a powerful heartbeat. Y'all in the comments stupid. Also, I feel like doctors and midwives are so much different in what they tell people. My midwife also told me working out is the best prevention for gestational diabetes. Keep lifting girl! Women really shouldn't gain an extra 30-50 pounds of straight FAT while pregnant.
The thing is don't do too much intensity while pregnant. You're pretty much diverting the oxygen and blood and affect the activity. "Light" workouts are recommended, high risk of injury but you can still work out.
It is all about risk factors. When pregnant women make choices about their activities and assess those risk factors. If you decide lifting is okay with you, that's fine but also don't pretend that there is no risk involved.
I'm currently pregnant in my third trimester and I would love to be updated on how pregnancy, labor/delivery, etc.) was for you. Things like.. If being this active has made delivery easier or if you had pre-term labor. Anything.
I follow Micha on insta and I am so motivated by her every day. Thank you for making this Video I am right into my Crossfit and 23 weeks pregnant and its nice to see this video and know that I am doing all the right things. Listening to my body and also not pushing it to the point where I am maxing out.
Smh whys everyone suddenly a doctor when it comes to this shit 😂 Googling something is not the same as going to six plus years of MedSchool. Even with schooling, you literally have no right to tell this woman- or anyone- how she can or cannot live her life. If you don't like how she is working out, then just click off the video and get on with your life. Simple as that.
Thank you so much for this interview. I'm 4 month pregnant and there is so few information out there about CrossFit and pregnancy. I only do what feels good and pay attention to my breathing. I stopped with the heavy weights and some exercise that felt strange. Never the less, I'm unsure about the heart rate. Is it ok to be a bit out of breath, like after doing a set of 10 Squats and then pause or do I have to stop immediately when I get out of breath and pause?
+GFA Showcase true now THAT I want to see then David would actually have a reason to call geo a guy lmao poor geo and I think they mentioned it in one of their q&a's
CHURROS #1 PUTA Well they're powerlifting with accessories so they wont be Mike Change six pack abs ripped, and when powerlifting, you don't fucking need to be. But most likely Geo wont look like a man. She's natural, no steroids.
If you stop training hard when the pregnancy progresses, I think there is little to no risk. It might just be good for the sugar metabolism of the baby. However, there is a thing called rupture of the fetal membrane (not quite sure if this is what its called in english), which can be caused by physical effort. This condition is very serious and in many cases leads to misscarriages.
If you have are doing this without the understanding of pre and post/anter and post natal exercise, why not get the certification so you are saying "this is what you can do" versus "this is what I think"?
Regardless of all the strength training what I would be worried about is having a gentle belly around all those weights and barbell brigade guys who always joke around
lmao, this shit always cracks me up. At this point the only thing that should matter is keeping in good health till the kid is born. After its born then yeah go full ham again. Not as though she can transfer her deadlift strength to the kid the more she works out while pregnant. I mean if these pregnancy workouts are so "light" for her she may as well do body weight stuff and not risk any bar injuries while pregnant.
You can’t jump around when pregnant, nor can you do anything that involves you laying on your back. If she’s not lifting it limits her even more to do body weight workouts only. When your pregnant the hormones released loosen your ligaments to prepare for birth so lifting lightly with good balance and focused moves are your best bet. Not push ups, pull ups, no floor ab work unless it’s side planks , no burpees, no jump lunges, no box jumps, etc.
Can you do a video on her diet when she was pregnant? I’m in my first trimester and still trying to figure out what’s safe to eat, what to stay away from, what not to given in to( junk food, etc) and getting enough water in
um.. not trying to hate but it is already a very common thing that the baby cant develop properly due to tight/overly developed abs. so i would think using them that hard would not be very beneficial right?
I don't think she doing any exercise that really strains her abs, maybe her lower back (deadlift), but not her abs. I feel like it is imperative for her to strengthen her lower back as much as possible to avoid back pain while pregnant, so her lifting weights isn't going to really hurt the baby. Plus she is doing more endurance training than strength training since she's doing lower weights (like 40-60% of her 1RM) and high reps, which shouldn't cause her to strain and tighten her body. It's more toning that any.
I'm for working out while pregnant but I'm yet to be convinced of strenuous workouts such as moderate-heavy weight in your big compound movements. There isn't enough research and just because one insanely athletic 'crossfitter' found success in doing so, doesn't mean everyone will.
Yeah, those who didnt work out before getting pregnant should not workout hard. Walking would be fine for previously inactive pregnant women. However, this women and many other women who've become pregnant, it is safe for them to train about the same as before. I train harder then some people around me and I am five and a half months pregnant with my third child. Women know what feels right and when it is time to scale it back.
To have a healthy developing baby and working out consistently at the same time requires a fuck ton of calories! What if your body and or the baby cant handle the strain of too much of certain nutrients?
my coworker is literally 2 months pregnant and she wont do anything! its annoying...i mean shes not showing, she is being lazy and it cant be good for her child or her weight. in my OPINION
she still looks like shes going to much still, but aslong as she knows when to stop then its all good all i wanna know is whether shes gonna keep going in the last months because if she does then thats when shes making a mistake
There are positive effects and negative effects while training pregnant. I only remember that the most positive ones are for the mother and the actual birth and the most negative ones are for the baby. I dont really remember what they are. Personally i feel like working out is good but from my understanding my books tell me some other things. I just hope that the person you asked knows what she is talking about.
I'm a male who doesn't even lift. Why am I watching a video on how to train whilst pregnant 😂
Get a food baby and start lifting.
"I'm a male who DOESN'T EVEN LIFT" nah fam this is the right video for you, you're technically a female
+MultiGamingARMY1 that hurt
Gtfoh
LOL😂 That was a good one. But when you try to handle dental school, a job, extra classes and tutoring you don't have time for things like lifting.
I needed this, I’ve been training for the past 6 months and love it. I was told I needed to stop immediately after I found out I was pregnant by family and friends
Me too. Made me sad to think I’d have to give it up. I’m just going to listen to my body and take it down a notch
Didn't give it up,just listened.toy body. My daughter is healthy.and happy, going.on with second.baby and still lifting.
I really hope Micha doesn't read these comments :( poor woman getting online doctors telling her what to lift as if she's some silly fragile girl. what if its actually worse for her body and her baby's development if she goes from working out 100% then suddenly dropping to next to nothing, I mean, just walking? there needs to be more research into exercising while pregnant, obviously she's gonna slow it down even more when she gets closer to the 9 month mark, ya'll need to back up out of their business.

the doctors may have said that thinking for a normal sort of light lifting person
if doctors encourage exercise they could be held responsible if injury occurs, so the safest route for them and the mother is to say "no exercise" no matter how fit the mom is
Z!ng of course, sometime doctors give facts depending on an average person that why i was saying "a doctor may"

my man scored
The baby is a boy so it's giving her extra test in her body so she can perform better while pregnant.
Taking test away from the boy the kids gonna come out having tic tacs for testicles
ONE you are stupid. It does not work like that
can't wait for the delivery video!
There are some really ignorant men on here who don’t know anything about a woman’s body let alone about it when she’s pregnant. Smh
She makes it look easy. She looks great while pregnant, women take notes.
Jesus she is preggo yet still has better form than Geo
Baek YNWA she’s not that far along.
Baek YNWA just wait till she’s in her 3 trimester she won’t have good forms
Lolita Cha I’m in my third trimester and still have good form. it’s called technique.

You are just butt hurt because she is pregnant, lifting 60% of her 1RM and still out lifting you
do pregnant women bounce the bar off their stomachs too when doing bench?
Can't wait to see the roast on Infinite Elgintensity. XD
At least her form is perfect.
***** Lol yeah i was just joshin'.
I had a teacher in highschool who use to run everyday she looked like she was about to pop and she still was at it the kid came out find.
The baby inside like to go on roller coaster already
Does the baby experience gains while in the womb though ?
Working out like a boss!!!
Real talk. This is great motivation. Berpys while pregnant, omg. I can't do it while not pregnant..... and male.
that Baby is gonna super healthy plus a Gym rat when he's like 3 hahah
I am in my first trimester and I squat 155lbs is that still safe or do I need scale down
If you have are doing this without the understanding of pre and post/anter and post natal exercise, why not get the certification so you are saying "this is what you can do" versus "this is what I think"?
Regardless of all the strength training what I would be worried about is having a gentle belly around all those weights and barbell brigade guys who always joke around
is this only because shes already a deadlifter? seems kinda scary
We were also told that if we ran more than 1500m our uterus would fall out.
I was told not to jump around but I still do because I’m used to it there’s so much bad advice out there for pregnant women it’s unreal
how far along are you,.will you lift till labor
Im pregnant i go gym and the instructors are like don't use weights huff
Is Stephanie Zamora your cousin?
Will the baby be affected in any way ...i mean will the baby be healthier?
هنا بالشهـر الثاني ما تقـدر ترفع كاسة .. ^_^

charlie what's your height and weight?
I'm for working out while pregnant but I'm yet to be convinced of strenuous workouts such as moderate-heavy weight in your big compound movements.

To have a healthy developing baby and working out consistently at the same time requires a fuck ton of calories! What if your body and or the baby cant handle the strain of too much of certain nutrients?
yeah if I would get pregnant I would still work out
This is very difficult by the way. When you're pregnant I mean.
Cool vid, good job!
Some of you people in the comments are weird af, please go seek help
Olympic lifts scare me when a pregnant woman does them. I always think there going to hit the bar against their stomach.
So, what'll happen when she braces her core?
She said she can't
Isaac Campos You'll always brace subconciously if you've been doing it for long enough.
***** ye that's right
She exercises like that and still keep a conversation while dOING THAT?
I CAN BARELY DO A SIT UP WITHOUT PASSING OUT
Her squatting reminds me of big Lenny lol.
I love this
i know barts been bulking but...
How old is she?
Your a beast mom
Your basically amazing
my coworker is literally 2 months pregnant and she wont do anything! its annoying...i mean shes not showing, she is being lazy and it cant be good for her child or her weight. in my OPINION
Amanda C the first trimester makes you very tired and sick. She probably feels like crap.
she still looks like shes going to much still, but aslong as she knows when to stop then its all good all i wanna know is whether shes gonna keep going in the last months because if she does then thats when shes making a mistake
I think those are crossfit weights so a 5lb weight will look much heavier than it actually is.
