Thank you for making this video. I have been thinking about putting an ornamental tree in my yard but there are already cherry trees all down my street. This one would be great!
I've read/heard that redbuds really prefer AM sun/PM sun. However these two plantings appear to be in full sun? I have an AM partial shade/PM sun setting, should I plant a Forest Pansy redbud there? I'm in MA.
Wow. Good ol' Sony Handycam. Reminds me I have 20+ Digital 8 tapes I haven't captured on PC. I know my Sony camera died so I'll have to find one soon on eBay before they disappear from this planet hahaha.
CTSCAPER Yeah it's old, 90s tech. Developed by Sony, as a matter of fact. Editing is a pain because it has to be captured into a PC in real time, which is why my tapes are still inside a box. Oh yeah, that and the fact that I loathe video editing hahaha.
i just planted a 6' Forest Pansy. what is the growth rate? I'm anxious! :) It's still burgundy starting to slightly change to fall colors here in Chicago but I'm hoping that I will see some fullness next spring/summer.. What time is it best to Fertilize ? Fall/ Spring ? Both ? thank you
Down the road a little may need to be nipped off the top of the tree. I normally would go with a Doublefile Viburnum or Weeping Higan Cherry in a space like that but my client liked the Redbud.
Beautiful John,This year I'm gonna purchase the Double-Flowering Redbud..Noone else on my road has one, Are they a surface rooter or a deeper rooter? Have a great day John..
I didn't know there was a double flowering Redbud! Do you know what it's called? Redbud roots stay shallow and in my experience they only have 2-3 main roots that branch off the main tree. B & B Redbuds often move a bit in the ball. In this video I dig a Redbud up if you want to see the roots th-cam.com/video/l-DxHG6C0Fo/w-d-xo.html .
Well now I have seen everything. Who knew there could be a double Redbud? That looks like a fun plant and it will have many a horticulturist doing a double take.
I just adore the redbud trees! I've always loved them.

A Redbud is nice!
Hi, Is the eastern redbud cercis canadensis bigger than the forest pansy? Thanks
I never thought about that. The grow at a similar rate and size to me but I would check some books to be sure.

What kind of camera did you use? Video looks incredible.
Thank you! It's a 4 or 5 year old Sony Handycam. Nothing special about the camera but I color correct the footage which makes a big difference.

Digital 8? I haven't heard of that one but if it's tapes I'm clueless as to how to edit it. :-(

Hello, John. I caught sight of two wires above the tree. Are you sure that you chose the right place for it?
