I'm sure if I was kin to this old boy I would proud of it too. I'm an old picker my self set out on the front poarch and pick a nd play. Nothing better fer the soul,,
Your a lucky man .i wish id had someone teach me these old time songs ..their going to be lost in history and thats fucked up.pass them on to anyone who.ll listen .its up to us bud.
My God. This guy was Blues , Rock and Roll royalty man. He was Charlie Patton and Bo Carter's brother. His nephew was Memphis Slim! We are looking at one of those guys who inspired Rock and Roll. And Corrina still feels timeless. Can be played as a Rock, Blues and Country anthem till today. I am in tears listening to this.
There is no way a guy this authetic would state.it on the Record 😂literally shazem lomax &❤☆Sam that he asked a girl could he put her name to his song unless its his HELLO get him his royalites to his family .they deserve it its a joy to hear these recordings Sams a pleasure to listen to talkinh let slone singing plsyinh guitsr fkmit hes in his 80s here look at what ass** ** s people like b ,eeyonaçeee are he an angel ❤❤❤
Watched this and decided to donate 10GBP to the Alan Lomax cause. Still, however, a pittance in regards to the overbearing pricelessness of Chatmons repertoire.
"What did she do when she heard it the first time?" "I don't know, I wasn't there, but she had bought one or two of the records" 😂😂 Sam must've been such a pleasure to speak with!
I just came across Mr. Chapman and this is the second song I’ve seen of his that the Grateful Dead played. Jerry Garcia started in bluegrass bands and liked “old timey music” I’m betting he was a fan of Mr. Chapmans music. The other song of his the Dead played is Sitting on top of the world btw.
Lol. Ya think? Of coursed it is. Clapton and others should have ensured he lived like royalty his last years. But Sam’s brother, Bo Carter, made the first recording and had the copyright, around 1930. Who knows who really wrote it. But this version is golden!
He wouldn't know much more than he did. and he'd do just fine. If you spend some time in that part of the world, you'll understand that you can live disconnected from the rest of the country and that if it doesn't bother you, it doesn't matter.
Yeah, he did. I been looking it up. Some sources say Bob Dylan. Most reference say that it was Bo Carter, aka Armentor Chatmon. Sam Chatmon is his brother.
Why don't u go straight up toBob Dylan & ask his how he heard this song 4 the Ist time hey put it There Bob BUT PUT IT THERE 4 SAMist & 😂 naturally Corrina 😂😂😂 2:52 🙏🎵🎵🎵🎵🙏🙏🙏🙏🏘
+Charles Williams try standard tuned down to C#. I don't hear any of those open tuning frequencies and his chord shapes look standard. I don't have a guitar with me or I would try to be a better help
This my family it feels so good to know you a part of something historical this my ancestor wow!
I'm sure if I was kin to this old boy I would proud of it too. I'm an old picker my self set out on the front poarch and pick a nd play. Nothing better fer the soul,,

alan lomax was such a blessing.
Thank God Alan Lomax got to do all he did. What a life it must have been!!!
Sam Chatmon was one of the great blues-folk musicians of his day. He didn't just play the blues, he lived the blues.
This is why I love music.....this is my first time hearing Mr Chatmon and I am blown away. Purely amazing.
Love the chickens in the background too which adds to the atmosphere.
😂😂😂
Allan Lomax Achieve makes the New Fort Knox, his work is worth more than solid gold!

Sounds like the source of Alberta as preformed by Clapton on his unplugged album.

AI wonder what he would think of the shit going on today, in music, society, and technology.
He wouldn't waste his time thinking about it. :-) Too many good songs to play!
Amen

anybody know know what's up with his hat?
Tell us what's up with it.
Hes not playing in standard tuning, Is he?
Is he? I don't know. Figure it out Craig and let me know..
+Charles Williams
I read he mostly just tuned to his voice per song.
so I just tune down till its close
+Charles Williams try standard tuned down to C#. I don't hear any of those open tuning frequencies and his chord shapes look standard. I don't have a guitar with me or I would try to be a better help
Seems like he always does, fashionably.
a good chunk of blues is not in standard
You know you did right when black musicians cover your songs😂
