    Nice coverage. Worth noting is Aptera has a nacs port and dcfc so it actually makes an amazing vehicle for road trips.

      Plus, the current model is supposed to have a range of about 400 miles on a single charge. Future models will have a 250 miles, a 600 mile, and then a 1,000 mile range.
      The 250 model's MSRP is $26,500 and the current 400 mile that is to start production by this year starts at around $34,000. I have a $70 reservation on the current 400 mile "Launch Edition" ("LE").

      You speak in present tense as if they are actually making these cars. They are at minimum another year away from seeing the light of day, and all EVs will have the Tesla charge port starting this year so how is this an advantage?

      Aptera is a motorcycle, and it is not solar powered.

    • @a5-30-31cts
      @a5-30-31cts 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@vic321344 It is an autocycle. Its insurance and license is that of a motorcycle, but it does not require a helmet to drive. It can travel on lanes where motorcycles are allowed (in addition to where cars are allowed).
      The Aptera is powered by a 400 Kilowatt Hour (KWH) battery pack that is charged automatically by 700 watts of solar panels that are on 4 places: a) the rear hatch door, b) the roof, c) the front hood, and c) the dashboard. The solar panels have the potential to provide up to 35-40 miles per day of driving energy (or about 11,000 miles /year) in places where it is sunny (like Las Vegas or San Diego). For northerly areas, it's more like 15-20 miles/day of free charging. At the CES show, the display car drove 20 miles but ended up with more charge than before the 20 mile drive. Because of its small battery pack, and low energy usage, if you plug it into a regular 110VAC wall socket, you can get up to 100 miles each 10 hour overnight charge (10 miles/hour). If you plug it into a regular 220VAC dryer outlet , double that rate of charge. For people living off the grid or people in apartments/condos without access to any charging , you can trickle charge off the solar panels to get anywhere from 10 - 40 miles per day of solar charging (depending on sunshine).

    Wish she covered more details. This will be the most aerydonimic production car ever made. It's drag coefficient is less than a Ford F150 side mirror. Being lighter and more aerodynamic than other EVs is why it can get up to 40 miles of range from solar power. Also, there first cars will have 400 miles of range with plans for 600 and 1000 mile range models later. It can be charged at Tesla chargers or at home just like any Tesla. It will be classified as an autocycle because it's three wheels, but will have the same safety features of a 4 wheel car and should meet the same crash test standards. It should do zero to 60mph in under 6 seconds and have a top speed over 100mph. The first vehicles will be front wheel drive and use a single motor that is commonly used in other EVs with plans for an all wheel drive in later models. It's a two passenger car with a cargo bed that is over 6 feet in length. The car body is made mostly from pressed molds of carbon FMC, which saves weight and adds rigidity. It also improves build quality by reducing the number of parts and improving the fit and finish because the carbon pieces have less size variance than stamped steal, which is the biggest cause of panel gaps in other autos.

      @vic321344 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Aptera is a motorcycle, not a car. And in the 1930s the germans built a real car that had a smaller drag coefficient than the Aptera motorcycle. (Schlörwagen). And i give a Shyte on "will have", "will be", "should do". And it absolutely does not have the same safety features as a car. Aptera is not able to confirm to the simplest safety standards necessary for a car. It does not need to be crashtested and never was, because it is a motorcycle. The body is made of a classic aluminium rail structure, the plastic plates are glued onto it. And the 40 miles/day claim is unproven. Just an empty promise, like everything else.

      @oliverheinen5440 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

      @@vic321344 of course they still have to do a lot of validation and crash testing, which they are of course planning to do. They’ve talked about safety a lot but of course they can only validate it once tests have been done. There’s no plastic but a carbon fiber & gfk structure reinforced with aluminium and steel. They didn’t go for 4 wheels because of the efficiency but plan to launch a 4 seater in future. As far as I know the schlörwagen also didn’t have a smaller drag coefficient then the Aptera. It’s said to have a coefficient of drag from 0,19-0,15. With the latter having been measured by Volkswagen. The Aptera is said to have a coefficient of drag of about 0,13.
      Regarding that “I don’t give a shit on - will have etc”. It takes a while for a car to be developed. Just look at Tesla and the cash they burned through before making any profits. If they get anywhere close to the promised ranges/ solar capacity then the Aptera will be my ideal commute vehicle. We’ve got 2 cars anyways so I don’t really care if one of them is a 2 seater anyways. And for me as a German it’s not about the solar at all since we don’t get a lot of sun over here, but the efficiency of it.

      Yes, the battery holds about 400 miles of range. And you can plug it in to level 1 (normal outlet), 2 (240 V outlet), or 3 (fast charging) level charging like a normal ev. But it also passively charges about 40 miles a day as well from the solar.

      i guess Chris Anthony mentioned "you dont have to charge it:. but in reality to most people, you can still charge it like regular EV, if you needed to. works really well for people that only needs 2 seats and does not have access to a home garage.
      You can even just plug it in 120V outlet and would gather enough to compensate for extra range you needed. or plug it at work!
