That's a stunning hike Joe. I've done it from Higger Tor and back and also from Redmires and gone along to the left and to Ox Stones Trig before coming back to Redmires. You are right, on a great day the views are amazing. I have one question for you. Where do you stand on trespass? The reason I ask is that there are several Ethels which are on private land. The person who created the challenge stated that he has visited every Ethel. Some he had permission for and some he just bagged. When I did the challenge I did a mixture. The official Ethel App says the closest legal point unless you get permission is considereda bag. But I'm on the 88 Trig Point Challenge now so if you don't bag it, you haven't done it. If it wasn't for the Great Tresspass and Ethel Haythornthwaite we wouldn't be able to legally roam where we can today. Just interested on your take, but I think I know your answer. Whichever way you choose Joe, even the Pointless Ethels were an experience. Two that come to mind are Beeley Moor (Harland Edge) and Alport Moor. The best way to Alport Moor is from Snake Pass and the bog of doom. I've done it that way, which was certainly the quickest, and from Alport Castles end at Fairholmes. Now that was a slog. From that end you have exactly one mile of bog infested terrain each way. But there is no right or wrong way to hike The Ethel Challenge as long as you enjoy it, that's the main thing. Thanks for sharing Joe and I look forward to watching your journey.
Thank you. You are right, several are not on public access land. I think I will see how I feel when I get close see if I am happy with that or if a quick out and back to the summit is needed... the purpose of trying it is to make me explore parts lf the Peak ive never been to before and im sure it will lead me on many new adventures!
Excellent video Joe , Stanage edge the gateway to the Himalayas.
