Mansion is on my heavy rotation. NF put everything I’m feeling into the perfect song. Also, it isn’t pride that keeps us from letting pain out. It’s fear, vulnerability, weakness, etc. that keeps us from talking about this stuff.
New Subscriber ready to take Journey with you. I got this from an interview that is still on the net. He had a major breakdown. He had the top selling song on the charts, his tours were sold out he had all these accolades coming to him. This is what he's worked for his entire life and he said it was the lowest point in his life. He made it, put in the work and he thought if this is all there is I would rather be dead. So he went to therapy, and he's still going it's not something you get over, it's a daily battle. He had known he had major depression and anxiety, he didn't know he had OCD. Just racing thoughts and it can completely overwhelm you. There are a lot of different types of OCD and he has a different type; you know how he always dresses which I thought was cool because he's still just Nate. What I didn't know was the way he dresses is actually a part of his OCD. He literally thought if he dressed differently horrible things would happen. His Therapist challenged him to drive home wearing a button down shirt and slacks. By the time he got home he was crying. He literally believed he was going to die if he dressed differently. For those of you who don't have mental health issues that's hard to understand. Speaking as a card carrying member of "Yes I'm crazy too" I can tell you those thoughts that race through our minds are very real and very scary. In the interview he did say that he's forgiven his Mom realizing she was dealing with her own pain and he had to stop blaming her for something she couldn't help. His new wife is helping him but he still deals with these things everyday. So if you know anyone who suffers with mental health issues this is real. You wouldn't walk up to a cancer patient and tell him to put on his big boy pants and he'd be just fine. You can hear the pain in his voice. He also has a very advanced and off the wall sense of humor. He credits God and his wife for helping him
There are some of us that were raised on survival instead of love. When I was younger I had a stepfather who put cigarettes out on my arm and if I made a noise he would put a loaded gun to my head and said if I didn’t shut up he would blow my head off, I was 5 years old when he was doing that and he put my mother in the hospital so much at 5 years old I cherished every moment with my mom more because I thought she might die before I saw her again and when people ask why I’m so quiet that is because my step mom mentally abused me and shit down on everything that I said so I stoped talking and started bottleing everything inside when I turned 9 I started to get depression and when I was 16 I tried to kill my self with a few bottles of pills the Medes day when my parents found my note i was raked to the hospital and stayed there for a week and my step mom still tells me I don’t know anything about hurting inside that I don’t know pain. But what I don’t know... is what happiness feels like all I know anymore is anger and irritability and how to block people out.
As someone who went through abuse, had a mom who didn't care, was homeless from 14 years old to 20, grew up with a brother addicted to heroin, and lost 2 kids, I SERIOUSLY KNOW what he went through 💯 and his pain. This song is really how it is inside where no one sees. "We escape in time, to try and hide, but every time, the anger will come and find. We try to numb the pain, always in vain, looking for answers, no one will explain, what happened to us only leaves a stain."
NF brought me to your channel. I love that you have a wonderful understanding of his music. I am patiently waiting for your reaction to "Let You Down." That song and video is exactly how I feel about my relationship with my dad. I am very sick and need a surgery to potentially help me. I have been through hell last two years and my dad doesn't believe that I am this sick. He called me a hypochondriac and that was it. He said he doesn't want to talk to me unless I have something positive to say. But I am going to a specialist at UVA now because my stomach is paralyzed from diabetes and I can't eat. I am miserable. So if you get around to that song it would mean a lot to me.

i was just switching around to different reactions to this song, but i think yours was easily the most genuine i had seen. a lot of reactors turned it into a joke or a didnt give it full seriousness, but you listened really carefully and gave it your full attention and reacted from the heart. im definitely subscribed after this

I really do second what you said about growing a relationship with God. Like I honestly don't think I would have close to the level of peace and perspective that I have if I didn't maintain a personal relationship with God. If anyone is reading this who maybe be a believer or not, I just want to say that though we can't see God He is very much present in our lives, and even more so if we invite Him to be in our lives. There are many things that have happened in/around my life that on paper would have really messed me up but it hasn't, (though really, has helped me get understanding/perspective beyond my age, I'm soon to be 17.) I am not immune to the things that happen around me however, nor have bad things stopped happening around me. The difference (I've seen) between myself and my friends/the people around me who have/are also going through struggles, is that I seem to have an unexplained inner peace. And that is my point. There is no difference between me and my friends but this. All I'm saying is don't be quick to decide that (a relationship with) God isn't for you, I am not paralyzed by the wreckage in my life, nor am emotionally/mentally strong. If we/you really try to be patient and seek the Lord, He won't be as far away as you think. Like even look at the bold statements Nate's said, if God isn't real, real isn't, 'like bruh.
It’s lonely inside this mansion. We don’t tell ppl. We put more and more walls up. The lyrics on the walls. Build more walls. Until we understand that we are putting these walls up it’s easier to keep building. But. When it’s time to try and remember the lyrics on them old walls. There’s emotion.its not always good emotion. But to get to the good ones. We have to open doors. And read the lyrics. Good or bad. Alone.
