- Every year, Scott Galloway, Professor of Marketing at the NYU Stern School of Business, makes tech and business and cultural predictions - and also tries to hold himself accountable. In this talk, Scott takes a look back at how his predictions from 2021 panned out, examines current trends like the metaverse and geopolitics, and shares his vision of the greatest opportunities coming up in the near future.
This talk was recorded at Summit At Sea in May 2023.

About Summit
Summit is an ecosystem that exists to connect and nourish global creatives, entrepreneurs, innovators and leaders of our time.
I hate listening to Scott not because I don't understand it,but because I get so outraged by how the system works that I have to pause and pause and listen to it 3 times before I'm able to understand calmly.
Of all the talking heads out in the world today, Scott Galloway is the BEST by far. Another bullseye, Professor!!!! 👏👏👏
Yeah he's really been spot on about crypto.
Are you a current or former student?
Tbf he shit the bed on Peloton. But I still enjoy and appreciate his work.
@@vantage789 yeah he's wrong about tesla though. 'it's just a car company' is what the short term analysts have been saying for years. truth is they have the most advanced real world AI today. no one is catching up fast and they will dominate autonomous transport as they are the only ones that have the data and compute size to achieve it at scale and economically. 2 years time i would guess
I love Prof G’s podcast and books. However he was waaaaay off with the Covid-19 💉 clot shot.
It's crazy to think, but Professor Scott will likely never know how much of a positive impact he has had on my life. I am so grateful I came across him a few years back. More people need to read/watch/listen to his stuff. What a legend.

This video is criminally underviewed, even with all of the views it has had. It's like 20+ brilliant books you need to read all condensed in to 1 hour of a brilliant talk. Scott Galloway is what we need in 2023 and beyond.

He has some interesting points but I also detect a lot of socialism disguised by humble bragging or if it's the other way around. Not so fresh.
Pretty impactful that the last 10 seconds was the most powerful and impressionable part of the presentation. And, that 3 words could convey such an important message. Thanks for that.
He's so articulate, but this was the only moment he stumbled over his words.

You don't know what it means to be a mamal?
So, what's your takeaway/lesson from the last 10 sec.?
The ending was surprisingly touching and vulnerable. Powerful message, and I thought perhaps I even saw a tear in his eye.
Such a great talk, eye-opening and insightful, but the last 10 seconds, oh my God, they were so emotionally charged that it made me tearful! And I know, that of all the messages that Scott conveyed, the last one will stick with me!
i'm glad you posted this, i might not have otherwise watched the end.... it is wise.

It's banding. It's what he sells.
Scott - you speak with authenticity and your talk was engaging because it is clear that it’s from a place of truthfulness in your beliefs. After watching this I just have to say I hope you find peace in your life. There is more. ❤
Scott, you’re a gift to the world and one of the few who can seamlessly weave between the mundane and the profound. Immeasurable value from your talks. Thank you.

I listen to his podcast every day. Not always in agreement but always thoughtful.
"The narrative is more important than the numbers".
This is exactly how things are today. Narratives inspire vision, yes, but they must be firmly grounded on quantifiable metrics.
Excellent insight!
Unfortunately a lot of metrics aren’t what they seem to be, much like the inflationary graph. Statistics tell us it’s much lower than it is.
What if that belief gets you left behind? Is it still true then?
"Are you here?!"
This hit me deeply wow, I struggle with depression a lot think he's called this societal trend spot on across the economy, modern social dynamics, with technology and our inability to just embrace what we have and where we are. Breaks my heart to connect so much with this speech because I know how hard it is to bear what I do.
we didnt really need to know that youre depressed
@@dhruvpanchal1695 sure but your comment technically had even less value. you would never say that to someone in person. so why do you do this here?

This is an excellent talk! Telehealth for psychotherapy has been what I've been doing for years. It's actually more intimate, because it's usually from clients' homes, than when they'd come to see me in my office. Eliminating the commute helps a lot wrt time and money.
Powerful closing question!

I missed Summit at Sea this year and definitely plan to attend next year. I have watched this video two times and shared it with friends. The data presented has helped me to think deeper on my own goals and to limit regrets. This shift to the .01 is scary and something we need to talk about as a society. This presentation is a gift and thank you for allowing more people to view and share it!
Some people tell their lessons of life through novels or stories, and Scott's are through his business acumen, but always with a tinge of existential angst. The last part was so real. Thank you so much.
What has Simon done?
Thanks Prof. Galloway. I appreciate your macro thinking and present reflection. Peace Love and Light.
SUPERB!!!! Last question ....lingers!!!!
That's one of the best presentations I have watched in a while. We need more of these!!!

"Space is called space for a reason... It doesn't want you there"😂
Execellent talk, really appreciate the in-depth look at a lot of these problems we all seem to have less and less time to deal with.
This was straight up amazing. He covered so much and was fascinating. Great takes on so many things. What a ride!
He was part of the “men are evil” movement, now he’s not happy with the result.

This guy is fantastic.
Love this for so many reasons. The closing line had me in tears.
I concur. We all keep replaying the closing line because it's the underlying lesson for overacheivers. At this time it's the most replayed part of the video.

Absolutely fascinating. Thank you Scott
The end of this is strong. Damn. "Are you here?"
The Sam Harris shoutout was great. These two in a long form conversation together would be fantastic.
100% agree two of the most lucid orators
“By the time you hit 38 you have trouble adapting to the way you look after that” 😂😂😂 omg hit the nail on the head!!! About his final “are you here?” Are you in the now? I say that to my husband all the time. Humans are time travelers. Literally. No one is actually ever in the present. There is literally no present, the moment you say “now”, it’s already gone. And we spend 99% of our days either in the past or planning the future we might not ever have. It’s actually a challenge to catch yourself in mental time travel and bring yourself into your present reality, but you gotta do it. It’s the only way to truly enjoy life. You know who time travels less? Kids. Kids are mostly in the moment. We need to relearn how to be like a kid again. Not only to enjoy the moment, but to think more positively and to have more wonder for the world and to have more trust in each other. Before it’s too late.
Always fascinating, always insightful...
Fantastic talk Professor Galloway!
“That’s all I got”a drop the microphone moment! Still excellent on the second watch…
What a presentation. This is the best I’ve seen this year. Very impressive.
Breathtaking really
I immediately stop what I'm doing when I hear him on cable news I have playing in background.
Such a packed 1 hour of amazing talk! Loved hearing it....
Man… that was worth the hour.
I needed this.Thanks.
LOL, what an absolute flex to be introduced by Simon Sinek. Great talk. Tons of insights.

Been listening to this on repeat
One of the best talks I’ve heard in a while!!!
Does anyone know what he uses to make the slides? I am not sure what the bottom icons are.
Amazing talk, wish there was qna session too. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Scott! Makes sense.
Love your sense of humor!!
Fantastic talk. Thank you.
Absolutely incredible. Not really sure what else I can say to that. The sheer variety of data presented, the context it was presented within, and that beautiful message at the end. A really great talk that I think most anyone would benefit from.
Damn that was good! Watched it in one go.
The ending was so real. You can feel his own struggle with never really being in the moment. Enjoying his experiences.
I also know exactly how he feels. I'm successful in my own right. Not on his level but I can imagine the experience being the same.
My mind never really appreciates what I'm experiencing and it's always working, thinking, scheming, planning, strategizing. If it's not doing that, it's criticizing myself for mistakes made.
It's maddening sometimes.
The only thing that seems to enable this state of being totally present isn't meditation, unfortunately. It's THC. Weed gummies or just straight up smoking a joint.
Personally, I don't it a lot. But when I do, I almost feel normal.
This presentation definitely felt as time well spend.
OMG Prof G. That’s all I have to say. I am here thank you!!
What a tour de force! So well presented, intellectually stimulating and emotionally charged. Thank you Professor G for sharing your insights on work, tech and life 🙏

Beautiful, insightful and vulnerable presentation. Thank you, Scott.
That hour just went by in a minute!
"so i levae this with a question: are you here?"
that line hit so incredibly hard i nearly cried.
Fascinating presentation. Thank you for sharing your thoughts
Thank you for the insight on our society and our lives, we all appreciate how much you shared about yourself too, it takes guts to be vulnerable like that. Gotta love youtube!
@@freethink9510 He is against the metaverse and space exploration? The value of institutions do go up with scarcity whether or not he is a professor. It's not that he wants it to be the case, he think it just is the case. He is actually in favor of expanding class sizes. I'm not sure what you are trying to say about ayahuasca, but he's obviously turning around to psychedelics. He absolutely would be more correct if he said ' I think/hope/postulate', but I don't think that is the purpose of his talk. He is taking a risk and making bold claims, so you may see him as impudent or brazen, but he is also audacious and daring, which means he will command attention and push his ideas forward. He risks being more wrong, but more predictive. He is also not light on data that backs these claims up as he literally crammed as many slides as he could in the time that he had. So I'm not entirely sure what you are expecting from him. Maybe not appropriate for a university lecture hall, but perfect for a summit like this.
This is the type of professor that makes learning fun
Wow that was excellent, wonderful perspective at the end
At 62, I don’t have health insurance either. I negotiate cash price with doctors.
They’ll normally charge an individual about half what they charge a 3rd-party payer.
That was incredible.
The time bit, THAT is correct.
Brilliant, wide-angle analysis backed up by lots of research, stats, stories, and inspiring insights into our humanity. Thank you.
@freethink9510 LMAO!! How many different responses can you possibly make by cope-pasting the same? What is this the 2nd or 3rd I've came across. How about instead of strawman vague generalizations you actually get specific about the points you disagree with, and bring some facts and sources like he does in your counter point?
That was excellent!
Absolutely wonderful
Brilliant.
One of the best general talks one is gonna come across

Those last 30 seconds! Gosh this was great. Lots to mull over.
Wow! Stunning presentation.
incredible talk
Great speech
Where can I find the Q&A season?
That ending hits hard.
Good talk, an equal amount of agreeable points and debatable points.
Thanks Scott. Your altruistic wisdoms and blunt critiques of capitalism flaws and benefits are akin to a shot of fresh cold liquid experience based truth, which once inoculated, wakes up the soul and make you ask the hard questions and force you to be "there". Keep it but and come visit Baja once of these days.
I choked up at the end, too
It's one of the best presentation and thoughts I've ever heard.

Any conversation that forces you into the present is a masterpiece
Is this available as a podcast somewhere?
Fascinating presentation and very emotional at the end. But my question is what happened to the Q&A? I would’ve loved to have heard some of the guest questions and his responses. 😢
Powerful.
Powerful
Great video and very realistic/honest points. There is nothing wrong with being rich but when the rules (tax code, etc) allow for capital accumulation to happen at the astronomical levels we see for a few decades, Democracy and Capitalism start to implode. Corruption, fascism, outrageous conspiratorial ideations are at unsustainable levels. Currently, there are waiting lines to buy increasingly large yachts and private jets. High luxury watches are now auctioned for 5-10 times the manufacturers' prices and sell quickly.
Is the presentation available somewhere?
I love it when Scott repeats my talking points about wealth inequality and how the rich get richer, which leads to them getting more power, which leads to them getting even richer. I especially appreciate that he understands how I predict it always ends. In revolution. What I will ding him on is that his numbers at 19:00 add up to $105. That causes me great concern.
