Great review! The main reason I switched to laser is the reason you mentioned at the beginning. It can sit idle for months at a time without having to worry about the printheads getting clogged. I will never go back to inkjet.
The first 2 minutes of your video helped me with my purchase of the M283CDW. It was half the cost of the FDW version (both were refurbished)....THANK YOU :)
Should i get canon Canon - imageCLASS MF455dw black &white laser for 219 usd or Canon - imageCLASS MF654Cdw Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer for 299 usd. I rarely print in color. Can you use aftermarket toner with black and white laser printers and if it spells their won't be a problem because they don't have TB(transfer belts) like color Lazer printer.
I actually just bought one of these (CDW model) at Goodwill, used of course. It had enough toner to try it out. Works great, so I ordered toner for replacements. I wanted a laser printer because I'm tired of ink drying out from not being used often enough at home and the battle just to print a page. I feel like I hit the lottery.. purchased printer for $20. Not really sure why the owner donated it, it's a great printer!
Did you have any problems connecting it to your Wifi? I just bought this same printer (yesterday) & I cannot get past the set up. I'm able to download the software & initiate the process, by selecting the printer. But then it's asking me for the password for the printer??? 😳 . . . I assumed it was my network password, nope . . . didn't accept it. Side note: the printer is connected to the same network that my MacBook is connected to. I've tried to connect to the printer with 3 different devices & I come back to the same point where it's asking for the printers password. Did you have this problem?
No problem connecting to my Wifi at all. Just yesterday I switched from 2.4g to 5g ban and it was fine. Since this video, I the issue that I run into is if I don't use it for a few weeks, it wouldn't find it on the devices I am trying to print from. At that point I would have to restart the printer then all the devices see it on the network. That might be the same issue as what you are experiencing.
Yeah, these printers are junk to hook up to wifi. I got this one from Costco for my mom. I am just going to return it. I can’t believe HP is still in business. I have a Brother and it took about 2 min to set up.
Were you able to connect the printer to a Google drive account? I'm getting an error from phone and laptop as Google is blocking it. Curious if u tested that out.
@@SarahM-te3yk I don’t know. I am still using the original cartridge. I print kids homework sometime. Mostly used to print Amazon return slips every week.
When you print on the computer or on your phone, there should be an option, usually under advance. If you turn it off once, it will remember it on the next print.
@@techbyleon Hi, I am sorry I have one more question. Not sure if you have setup the administration password for the system printer settings, I do. But for the love of God, I have no idea how to log off from it. Nowhere on the web interface I cannot find "log out or log off". If you have same or similar setting can you please share how are you login off from the web interface? Thank you
@@techbyleon Right, when you have no admin password set for the printer settings anyone who knows (on your LAN) can login to the web interface and change the settings for the printer. I did set the password, but how one can logout out of the admin.....I have no idea.
@@gregoropeza4852 LOL you made me laugh with that comeback! And yes, you right, that person should watch and or comment.....you were right on dot! Leon did great job!
Thank you so much. I looked all over for the difference between the cdw and fdw and your video nailed it!!!

Thank you! Quick and thorough demonstration. We, teachers, need more reviews like this. 🙂

Oh, and it does mobile fax!
Wow. Good deal. These printers last awhile
It states 2 paper trays standard in the specs, confused, do you know any info on the second tray? Thanks
The printer technically have “two” trays. Tray 1 is like just 50 page capacity from the flap. The second tray is normally on printers if 250 sheets

Can you do remote printing on these printers?
Thanks for the video, it seems you have to put one card stock sheet of paper in at a time, does it take 110 lb paper?
I couldn't find the answer to this question anywhere. Can this printer print on cardstock paper? Thank you in advance!
Yes you can! There is actually a slot on the front for you to insert just that instead of taking the whole tray out.
@@techbyleon You are the Best! Thank you, mate!
Yes

Once the ink is over, what type of ink must I buy for the M283fdw?
The model Toner that you buy is 206X Toner. They last VERY long.
This one I bought is about $100 after $50 off. amzn.to/4aNcD9P
@@techbyleon Thank you! How long does the ink last from the initial use before refilling or changing the cartridge?

Does it print and copy both sides automatically?
a question prints on photographic paper?
Hi Leon,
Question for you. Have you been able to turn off the automatic double sided printing? If so, how did you do it?
Thank you

How can I print images on 4 X 6 photo paper using this printer?
I have that, fantastic printer, mine is the fdw version. Several hundred pages printed, starter toner at 60%
yea, the toner last FOREVER!!!!
Nice review thanks.
Great review, Thanks 👍
I don’t need a dissertation on printer types. What I do need to know is what computer system are you on - a PC or Apple?
Really! I don’t need your life’s story
then dont watch it? bum 💀
