Eun tak probably blew candles within those 10 years but she cant summon the goblin. It was because of the contract that brought the goblin back again. The contract says that on the first snowfall the goblin agrees to be summoned by the bride. She blew a candle on the FIRST SNOWFALL for the FIRST TIME in 10 years. Not for the first time ever in 10 years hehehe.
I didn't like the ending, it wasnt even an ending,just a continuation of goblin life minus the sword, now even worse that he cant ever die. He will still lose all his loved ones, even his bride. And for all those who didnt like the age difference, he still found his bride while she was underage, Overall totally dissatisfied with kim shin not-happy-ending.

It was average at best and too overhyped imo , not to mention the uncomfortable age gap and zero chemistry between the leads ( ML acting as a fatherly figure and female lead acting as an immature schoolgirl) . I really don't understand why relationship between 939 year old man and 19 year old girl ( a minor ) is romanticised. Rather It should not be encouraged.
Can someone pls explain what happens when the Goblins wife uses up all 4 of her life. Will he still be roaming alone for all of eternity? We know that he comes back due to the contract and her blowing the candle but does he choose immortality so that he can be with her for the remainder of her lives- sad love is better than nothing at all. We can see he doesn't age while those around him have and dies. Is he immortal and will that immortality cease to exist once his bride uses up all of her lives, or will he be immortal forever. I know it is up to the audience's interpretation but will he find a loophole of some kind after her 4th life or will he carry on?
Good question! The writers left that up to our imagination. For Eun Tak her 4 lives aren't sequential so it could possibly take lifetimes to come back again to Kim Shin so who knows 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏿♂️ but the good thing is that we can dream up whatever ending feels best for all of us 🙂.
The idea of the show is pretty close chinese belief. We get three tries with our current soul. Euntak is on the last reincarnation when she comes back at the end. That's her last try with that soul with goblin, so she got to keep her memory. When she ages and dies again, her cycle ends and he will be alone again. He can try to find that soul again, but it won't be her...unless divinity intervenes and says otherwise. So it is a bittersweet ending, even if she was blessed to continue to reincarnate with her original soul, he will forever have years of lonely waiting or searching for a form of her after e very death.
In my view.. The God has opened door for Goblin to the afterlife.. When Eun tak dies again.. Probably Goblin would go along with her to the afterlife.. And it will be the end to Goblin's long-lasting life.. They both will again reincarnate.. Goblin will be a normal human being and it's their fate.. they may meet or may not
I tried so hard to avoid Kdramas because I knew it would be addictive. Since COVID-19 happened, I had nothing much to do! Watched 3 Kdramas before this and I couldn't really say they got hooked. Finally, I watched Goblin. My life is never gonna be the same again! This drama is 💯💯💯. I hope I can discover another that can equal this! Stellar cast, amazing cinematography, unique story.

@LuckyCookieMonster sorry to say, your explanation about Eun tak's reincarnation was wrong, because in the last episode Ji Eun-Tak ask Grim Reaper about her life, and he replies that it was her first life, and also she have remaining 3 lives(total number of life - 4 as per this drama details). last scene of the drama was showing her second life . sunny was on her third life she reincarnated as an actress on her 4th life
If Wang Yeo reincarnated to another life then kim shin could’ve reincarnated to another life after killing Park-jo with the sword, right? Then Kim shin and Eun-tak could’ve met in the next life just like Wang Yeo and Sunny did. If that were a possibility, then why did kim shin chose to stay? What’s going to happen after Eun-Tak lives all of her 4 lifes? Kim shin will be alone forever :’(
I think the difference was that Kim Shin was a goblin and didn't have the same rights to reincarnate like the grim reaper because he was technically a "god".

Thank you for your comment, in regards to having her memories, she skipped the tea offered by the grim reaper so that she could come back and remember her previous life. As far as her physical features, we are not sure if she would come back and look the same every reincarnation.

There's no happy ending ever after like you said. How is happy ending when goblin can't die? Instead he watches his bride die and he has to wait for 20years after reincarnating for her to remember him. And, how many times will it keeps happening? It's like a bad loop.

Despite all the hype and rave reviews - I have found this to be disappointing. It's not a riveting nor exciting type of kdrama. The first episode is probably the most interesting. If you like to look at Gong Yu for 16 episodes - this is for you.

Nice try but you left out a lot of important details. Like the fact that En Tak doesn't know that pulling the sword will cause Kim Shin to die for most of the show, the affair between Grim Reaper and Sony is doomed because of his sin that caused him to become a Grim Reaper, En Tak is abused by her terrible aunt who gets a very appropriate reward at the end but most important, the Bromance between KIm Shin and Grim Reaper is destroyed buy both learning his true identity and that Kim Shin's best friend is responsible for the death of his beloved sister. All said, I still liked your little reap. Goblin is one of the finest dramas ever made, (Korean or not)

I just finished ep1 of this drama and I’m confused about some characters.. who was the lady how asked Shin to move forward? And the grandson of the servant was thrown in the see but he appears again!! Didn’t he and his grandfather die? Or r they now ghosts?! I felt stupid for not getting it and i had to ask 😭 plz help
The lead couple got screwed immensely. She was constantly being beat down in her life. He was rude to her at least 70% of the time before the sword came out. Her aunt was pure evil. Lost her mom as a child. Her teacher and classmates were as bad as her aunt. She was constantly depressed for 9 years after her memories were erased. She has a few days of happiness with him and then dies in a car wreck and then spends 19 years tracking him down again in another life, all the while he endures close to s thousand years of hell waiting for her 1st reincarnation?! And that's a happy ending!? Thanks, but no thanks God. Thankfully, that's not how God really works.
In this story he is not God but a depiction of a god. He is punished for his treatment towards her by the god of creation which is more of a depiction of God. The happy ending is what you make it. I think that was a major theme of the show. Try "Death's Game" really good show that covers the complexities and the simplicity and honor of life.

Lol I should have watch this instead of forcing myself watch until ep 6. The story started so good, but damn they know how to stretch out 1 hours movie to 16 episodes. And it’s getting so damn boring after it. The age gap , made me want to throw up. Try to watch it because the last scene when the female lead cry. But the build up for her is none, She doesn’t have any character at all, by that she didn’t work hard to get the things she want but just follow her sugar daddy (the goblin, literally he 990 years old) , go to his house and wait for all the drama and fall in love. Blah blah.. And they tried so hard to put in as much as the European styles , restaurants they possibly can that doesn’t even related to the plot point. By that I mean they can probably change it to a high quality Korean restaurant or house, and still the story won’t change.

There's no happy ending ever after like you said. How is happy ending when goblin can't die? Instead he watches his bride die and he has to wait for 20years after reincarnating for her to remember him. And, how many times will it keeps happening? It's like a bad loop.
This was the first show to ever make me bawl my eyes out
I like rewatching great Kdramas but I have never rewatched Goblin cause I am not ready to go through so much pain again. It’s been 5 years and it still hurts when I think of how tragic the story is.

Despite all the hype and rave reviews - I have found this to be disappointing. It's not a riveting nor exciting type of kdrama. The first episode is probably the most interesting. If you like to look at Gong Yu for 16 episodes - this is for you.

Nice try but you left out a lot of important details. Like the fact that En Tak doesn't know that pulling the sword will cause Kim Shin to die for most of the show, the affair between Grim Reaper and Sony is doomed because of his sin that caused him to become a Grim Reaper, En Tak is abused by her terrible aunt who gets a very appropriate reward at the end but most important, the Bromance between KIm Shin and Grim Reaper is destroyed buy both learning his true identity and that Kim Shin's best friend is responsible for the death of his beloved sister. All said, I still liked your little reap. Goblin is one of the finest dramas ever made, (Korean or not)

I just finished ep1 of this drama and I’m confused about some characters.. who was the lady how asked Shin to move forward? The lead couple got screwed immensely. She was constantly being beat down in her life. He was rude to her at least 70% of the time before the sword came out. Her aunt was pure evil. Lost her mom as a child. Her teacher and classmates were as bad as her aunt. She was constantly depressed for 9 years after her memories were erased. She has a few days of happiness with him and then dies in a car wreck and then spends 19 years tracking him down again in another life, all the while he endures close to s thousand years of hell waiting for her 1st reincarnation?! And that's a happy ending!? Thanks, but no thanks God. Thankfully, that's not how God really works.
In this story he is not God but a depiction of a god. He is punished for his treatment towards her by the god of creation which is more of a depiction of God. The happy ending is what you make it. I think that was a major theme of the show. Try "Death's Game" really good show that covers the complexities and the simplicity and honor of life.

Lol I should have watch this instead of forcing myself watch until ep 6. The story started so good, but damn they know how to stretch out 1 hours movie to 16 episodes. And it’s getting so damn boring after it.
The age gap , made me want to throw up.
Try to watch it because the last scene when the female lead cry. But the build up for her is none, She doesn’t have any character at all, by that she didn’t work hard to get the things she want but just follow her sugar daddy (the goblin, literally he 990 years old) , go to his house and wait for all the drama and fall in love. Blah blah..
And they tried so hard to put in as much as the European styles , restaurants they possibly can that doesn’t even related to the plot point. By that I mean they can probably change it to a high quality Korean restaurant or house, and still the story won’t change.
