Grapple is such an amazing attachment. It never ceases to amaze me how much work a subcompact tractor can accomplish with just the right patience level. SS
I again want to thank you & your channel for introducing my tractor & I, to HydrosPlus What you are doing here is what I have been using our 1025R for. We have clearcut -3- plus acres and hauled off the debris with the tractor using the JD AV20F grappler. When I broke one of the tilt/curl cylinders, I decide to take your advice & upgrade the hydraulics to the HydosPlus stage #3 pump & larger lift, tilt/curl cylinders - Like you said, difference is night & day! So, many thanks from a satisfied viewer!
Old vid I know but I have done brushwork in South Texans since I was in my 20s (50 now) and pointers on working a hot pile whether on steel (dozer) or rubber. Get in, get the brush where you want it and get out. Pre plan every push.
Tim, that 1025R does a lot more that the JD brochures ever hope to show. I was amazed with the way it handled that large log! Good to see all of the family involved, been missing Katriel in the "work" videos, but I understand, as she has been hopscotching all over the globe this past summer. Keep up the great videos, and scriptures. Now think I'll go out and give my 1023E a pat and clean him up!
Good video,I spent about 4 hrs. yesterday doing about the same thing for my neighbor. People are surprised at what these 1025's can do. Y'all be safe and take care.
I was struck by the excellent and professional quality of camera work in this video! In fact, one might more appropriately call it cinematography. Combined with the probing and insightful interview style, makes for an award worthy production.
After watching all these months and all of the jobs you’ve completed, I’m still amazed at the work this tractor will do. I now wish I had gone the sub-compact route for our property. And a thumbs up for the Bad Boy mower appearance.
Tim and family, don’t allow all the negative comments get to you. You folks have inspired me to upgrade from my allis charmers 5015 to an LS xj2025. It’s not a Johnny but the amount of projects I have completed I’m very pleased. Thank you for the great videos and god bless.
Great to see what the 1025R can really do. I'm not near confident enough with our 2025R to do what you can do.! Love the videos . You All are awesome!!
Hey Tim we do same kind of work your doing on your videos with more hard scape. We use John deer 4600 40 pto hp and a Ford f550. Both fit in small areas. 4600 can pick up pallet of pavers and not destroy the lawn if you go over it alot.
Great video. Do you ever have any problems with the Fire Department when you burn brush like that? Here in our area the Municipalities don't allow open burning, but the County will allow small burn piles as long as you get a permit. I'm really envious of the loader and grapple that you have on Johnny. My BX doesn't have a loader and some areas my Mahindra with the loader just won't fit. Katriel, try to find you a couple of long-sleeve shirts for working on projects like this. Sporting Goods stores sell some really nice ones for fishermen. They are mosquito resistant, SPF rated and very cool and comfortable. They are great for outdoorsy work. A good pair of tactical style work boots will help protect those little toes and have the added bonus of supporting your ankles. I actually got mine at our local Bass Pro Shop, but most sportswear shops sell them. Hikers love them as they are super comfortable.
Well, Tim, this video, plus a couple of your other ones, has convinced me to look seriously at the Artillian grapple. I see lots of others advertised on Craigslist all the time, but I like the double, individual one you got. VERY versatile. Once again, thanks for helping me spend more money! (did ya hear the sarcasm in that? LOL)
You should try to mount a receiver hitch in the front of your tractor to use a portable electric winch. Same for the back. Your little tractor is one heck of a machine. I haven't seen too much where you'd need a bigger tractor. Some jobs are time consuming, but overall, you got it. Great video once again. God bless and stay safe.
FWIW, when moving backwards with a wide load in the grapple be sure to watch out for trees or other things that may snap the load and break the attachment on the front end loader. I had a log like you were moving and was backing up to put on the burn pile and a tree snagged one side and the broke both attachments of the grapple to my 3720 Deere. Those are the ones where the grapple quick attach pins are secured to the brackets of the front end loader and held in place with the snap pins. I had to order replacement brackets and then install them (easy to install, finance committee was not happy). So, be gentle in reverse on those brackets Mark
To heat that fire up a little, I would occasionally go by and blow into the bottom with a leaf blower, stokes the fire quickly and keeps it burning hot?
Be careful, Dave. If you can swing a 3 series, I would recommend that you proceed. I am pushing Johnny to his limit for lots of the projects we attempt. Would be nice to be working well within the working range rather than at the limit.
I've cleaned a few fence rows up for farms with a skidloader and grapple. Never ruined a hydraulic line in the heat but same mentality as you Tim, dont spend to much time in the fire! Haha
Tim, absolutely love your "Johnny" videos. They give me a lot of ideas....lol. Your loader seems to handle more than mine does. Do you have an additional pump on it? Do you need additional pumps for the grapple? i just have the connections for the bucket. Keep those videos coming.
Hey Tim, I just came across your channel yesterday and have been busy checking out all the great vids. Had no idea that little JD could handle a log that big - was it hollow, or solid? I also like the voice overs you and esp your wife do on these, it gives them a documental, The Endless Summer vibe to it. LOVE THE GRAPPLE!
Thanks Robert. The log was solid, but I’m sure it had rotted somewhat as it had likely been there for years. Must not have been TOO rotten because it didn’t burn up in that fire. Was still there the next time we visited (you’ll see that video this upcoming Sunday) Thanks for the kind words. Hope you check out all of our older videos. We have 300+ videos of this tractor in action.
I LOVE THE GRAPPLE!!!! I want one so bad now. Is it safe to have the hydro hoses so close to the fire??? Quick drops are probably good but the long ones worry me. Love the videos!
Easy/cheap way to start a brush pile. Save your old pillows in a garbage bag in the garage along with used oil. Take a pillow out and push it into the brush pile. Soak it good with the used oil and lite. It will burn for about 20 minutes and easily start the brush to burn. Don't use diesel or gasoline!
Tim you can get your hand on roundup and 24D by getting your brother to order some extra of both and both of these will be a knock out punch to the weeds
That’s like mowing my front yard I have gotten quite used to mowing my front yard but the first couple times was very scary but after two years with my 1026R but some days I do miss my little saber 2554
I am beginning to think I might like a compact tractor, with full disclosure I am a fan and ummm collector of small to mid size dozers! Yeah can’t see bringing them where you work! Great stuff here!
Tim, I love the 1025r even though it has 25 24 horsepower it is a beast even my Simplicity broadmoor that has a 25 horse briggs and stratton motor it is great and powerful. Good job Tim!
As I watched you on that incline I was saying to my self "Where's Vinny?" I think you need to some trailer shopping. It's not so much a weight issue it's a length issue. You need room for Vinny and Johnny plus attachments. With Katriel on the job Christy can run the other machine. Obviously she does't have enough to do. LOL . Wait 'til she reads that. Ka-Boom!!! I know she does most of the video and editing work plus runs around behind you trying to help, { there's video evidense}. I just couldn't resist the urge. You two are a great team and I liked the way she was always a part of the tractor testing in previous videos. God bless and see you two on the next one. To Katriel: Long pants, Long sleeves, high top shoes. Beleive it or not, these are construction sites and not safe for casual wear.
That was a fantastic video keep them coming and also how much work was done with Johnny I would love to get one myself someday I watch every video you make awesome job guys
I just pulled some 12 inch pine stumps out with my 57 JD 520. I was putting my front end up in the air and she was digging. I ended bouncing a bit when the tires found the many rocks in the ground. I pull hard one way then go another way. Took alot of effort for the ol girl but but they left the ground. One of my chains i broke a link(not thru but will if i dont fix it. Double clevis fix)and the grab hook looks like a slip hook. Lol. Ps my fit bit recorded i was in the exercise heart rate zone while the tractor was doing all the work
Maybe he could plaster that wall with some surewall and make it really strong again and keep it from falling apart. I do brick and block restoration and this is certainly going to cheaper than building a new wall.

You’re lucky that the hydraulic lines didn’t melt. I think you would be better off dropping the logs at the edge of the fire and then push it further in to keep the hydraulic lines away from the fire. Either that or weld a half round shield around them. Maybe you could get a welding blanket to wrap the lines in. I’m sure that fire isn’t good for your tires either.
Just wanted to reply about melting the hydraulic hoses. As long as you go in then right back out it's no problem. Have used much larger rubber tired tractors with a root rake on a front end loader to do the final cleanup on brush clearing operations and I have yet to melt either the hoses or tires. Just use a good dose of common sense.
Actually, would be a great job for a compact excavator with mower and Johnny. Let the excavator mow the hill, dig the fence out, do the main clean up and Johnny moving brush to the fire. Even a compact track loader would be a better option than Johnny.

The grapple is made up of several components. So the weight varies depending on how many clamps or rakes you get. The weight of each component is listed at the artillian.com site. Minimum config is frame plus one grapple (clamp). Width is same as fork frame, I’m not sure. The artillian site does a good job of illustrating all of this. Check it out! Sorry I’m not more helpful!

I agree!
Johnny picked up those trees like picking up matchsticks. That is going to be a nice looking property once all the brush is cleared.
Yes, beautiful property. Lots of character!

Love the scriptures tim!! Keep it up
Christy puts lots of time into selecting just the right verse!
I was thinking the same thing. I was wondering who came up with the verses, they always fit well with the video. Now we know:-)
With that grapple from artillian do you have to buy a separate mount to put the grapple on or can u just mount it to the existing mount?
The grapple pieces are modular. Get the frame which is the same frame as for the artillian forks, then add one or two clamps and one or two rakes.

Another great video...thanks Tim!!! Becareful burning if there is poison ivy in it. That could be a bad situation.
Hi Tim great video, I was wondering if you took off the quick hitch on the back and put the mower directly on the arms would it lift it higher?
No, the quick hitch actually adds a bit of lift height.
i dont care what people say johnny rocks even mine is great for small to med size jobs they fit them small areas so good and fast

Nice job!
That grapple is awesome
Real? That is a real tractor. Love these things. Leave the old wall in there, build a new wall in front of it with pre fab blocks. Easy to do.
great video yet again
Love the videos I’m 13 and I want to get a 1025r I have a bobcat but u know u can’t just have one
Did you turn the hydraulic pressure up on your new Johnny like you did your others?
TTT does having family in the farming Business help you understand the capabilities of different attachments and the tractor in general? or is that something you learned thru trial and error?

2nd best is the ability to call them and ask for advice.
They are fascinated with Johnny and Casey because they are so tiny.
Hello,I heard poison ivy mentioned, please be careful and be sure not to burn any! Keep up the good work !
This old house says to not burn poison ivy, because then it’s airborne. If I understand them correctly
Absolutely!!! Don't burn poison Ivy. It gets in your lungs! My mother-inlaw wound up in the hospital. Tough way to learn that lesson.

Ha! Yea!
Seeing as you had the FEL on I guess you could call that a hill. At least the FEL will make it feel like one. :)
We almost titled this episode "Is it a mountain or a mole hill?" You would view it as a mole hill!
It’s nice to watch tractors getting used in real world jobs instead of mowing grass that isn’t even long enough.

Yes. Two options. 1) a grapple! 2) add-a-grapple from precision manufacturing. Check it out!

How well does Johnny do on hills? Wanting a Johnny one-day but worried about hills cause flat land is rare where I live.
Not great on hills, but Levi (mi2tn here on TH-cam) uses his on very steep property. We have a few episodes from his home. Check out the playlist.
Can't climb hills? I've hauled several loads of brush, old concrete, stumps and dirt laden with black mold up the mountain behind my house. The 1025r is in four wheel drive, low range and 2,500 rpm. It conquers the mountain grade well.
main risk is sucking fire and heat into the radiator via the fan.
The fan in a tractor draws air from the drivers station to the grill. The exact opposite of a car.
Incorrect. The fan on Johnny works in the same direction as a car. Radiator in front, fan behind.
My 2 JD 425's and my Kubota bx2200 all draw from the platform. Helps keep the radiator screen cleaner.
The Ventrac is the same as your tractor. This approach also keeps the operators station cooler!
Not always a positive when pushing snow. :) Yes, nothing worse than getting seat time in 90+ degree heat w/ what feels like a hair dryer blowing on you.
