- The Rory Gallagher Statue was finally unveiled in Ballyshannon Town Centre on Wednesday 2nd June 2010 and is without doubt the greatest tribute to Rory since his untimely passing in June 1995.
So 15 years on, Rory is immortalised in Bronze (his late mothers wish) and it happened in Ballyshannon thanks to the efforts of the Rory Gallagher Festival Committee and Donegal County Council.
Following calls for submissions by artists / sculptors to build the statue, David Annand from Fife in Scotland was selected in April 2008.
The Statue was finally unveiled on the opening day of the 5-day Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival 2010 in Ballyshannon.

I saw him live at The Great Western Linconln Festival in 1972...he was the only act who did two sets...on two separate days!! He COMPLETELY blew me away!! What a player!! Rory...I'll carry your memory forever...to my grave!!
A genius deserves a statue. A unique talent, I was fortunate enough to see live at least 20 times.
Didn't realize they made a statue of him. Incredible Blues Player. Never got to see him, but play his cd's and wish i had. RIP RORY YOUR LEGEND WILL NEVER DIE!!!!

I once went to see Rory play a gig in London town, I was with several of my brothers, I was a sober as a Judge who had taken the pledge except for a few cups of tea beforehand, During the concert and with the power that Roiry and his boys produced on stage I thought they were going to blow the roof off the building, I remember looking up at the very high ceiling several times thinking the sky is going to be shining through clear and bright at any time. The Roof stayed on but a few days later I was told by someone who worked at this building that they had to call and the carpenters to renail the floor boards on the stage also on the main up front near the stage. Rory and the boys almost brought the building down that night with a little help from little Steve on Harp and Al Kooper on guitar, I am sure others who went to this concert felt the same way that I did on that night. If I stop for a moment I can re-call most of this gig.
