Xdeep sells a BPW BCD designed for schools with quick adjustments. It is the zeos dive center edition.

Hi. A comentary RE Q5. I have Atomic regulators, T3 and B2, attached to regular and brided hoses. The only fitting you´d need is something Atomic call "jam nut kit", whic basically a nut. Because once yo take out their swivel, the second stage is left with a standard diameter thread, but a little longer, so you need to add this nut for the new hose to seal properly against it. Best

On the shorts, I had the Apeks shorts but sent them back as they wouldn't stay up whilst walking around on the shore. Worked great in water. I couldn't justify cost of Fourth Element so went with the Mares XR tech shorts. They are awesome, cheaper than both Apeks and Fourth Element. Really happy so check them out. FYI, I am a fan of Fourth Element, have their drysuit. But for Tech Shorts for tropical diving I just wanted something cheaper.

Seac Sub does a recreational wing + BP BC: Seac Sub Modular. Dive Rite also does one: Hydro Lite BCD.

Question for next weeks: "How do you find a suitable dive buddy"? Local Clubs? Online Forums? via Dive shops? Lonely Hearts columns?? ;-) And once you've found one, what are the most important things to discuss with your new buddy and in particular, how does one rate ones skills in a pragmatic way without either excessive overconfidence (potetnially dangerous) or too much sand-bagging (possibly resulting in dives being too 'boring' for one party? Thanks chaps!

#askmark Hi Mark & Shaun, should I test my regs, bcd, drysuit inflator on dry land during the winter? Some people say, it’s OK to test the inflators outside of the water (dry air), but regs should always be tested e.g. at 5m depth. Some people inflate the bcd orally (I just go for it, to be honest). Which procedure helps to prevent the formation of ice anywhere on my equipment? Thanks!

I'm not really sure there is any significant difference in breathing effort with any modern premium regulator, as they are all really well engineered and designed and built.
What you DO find is that the way a regulator is setup and services has the biggest difference, especially if there is no preload adjustment, ie the service centre must set the preload during the service and then the user cannot change that setting. realistically, without a suitable test machine, and a lot of time and effort, regs are going to feel slightly diferent to breath, with "slightly" being the operative word. One advantage of modern pneumatically balanced second stages is that the actual seat loads are low, so there tends to be less variation as the seat / orrifice wears during use, especially in the first few dives after a service

4:43 That would be Sherwood SR2, not Shearwater.

#askMark - A serious question - (no, not is brand A better than brand B!) for sport/leisure diving, with no health issues to consider, is there a reasonable upper age, beyond which you'd say stop? Considering that I've not been diving since August 2019, and of course no training or even swimming for all of 2020 to now, and probably not until the end of April, so I'm well out of practice - added to the fact that I've just begun my 71st orbit of the sun.(That'll confuse Shaun!) is it worth continuing? I know a few people continued diving much later than that, ie Jaques Costeau, etc, but they didn't have enforced long lay-offs. Is it worth my getting all my kit serviced again, or should I kick it into touch?

Except the wing is the most expensive part of the back plate/wing kit.

Can you discuss he efffects of cannabis at depth ? Or on the human body after diving ? Not necessarily smoking it but just having edibles, is there any scientific studies that suggest or show negative effects? #askmark

#askmark How do you reason about choosing gradient factors? Recent research seems to recommend a GF low set higher and GF high set lower than any of the presets on e.g. a Shearwater

Love my Apeks shorts apart from that the pockets and some seams are starting to fall apart after 6 months (100 dives) so I might have a look at the fourth element for my next pair if they're present at the next local dive expo in May.

Same here, have the old version with D ring et adjustable size, great pockets but the "crackier" material ,as he said, started to fall into small pieces very quick. Now they are holes everywhere... They should use better material for the pockets. Won't buy again that's for sure !
