Lot of people do not know Tekle was Roha Band's drummer also before he started recording. HE is also one of the initial wave of artists that joined Roha after Giovanni, Selam and Fekade founded the band. He has been there since the beginning. He is notjust some artist that recorded with Roha. When they recorded his forst album was a massive hit. He sadly passed away just as his start was taking off. Thanks God and Roha band for this gift. Roha band completely dominated Ethiopian music and gave us so many diamonds like Tekle RIP Tekle. Love and peace!
Most people in Ethiopia don't know Tekle Tesfazghi (an Eritrean) was what they call 'ye kum esregna' meaning he was closely monitored by the regime and was not allowed to travel abroad. This was based on the suspicion that he supported Eritrean independence which was offcourse true every Eritrean that was in Ethiopia at time longed to see the independence of Eritrea and Tekle was no different. The support could only have been emotional because it could not be anythingelse for someone under close scrutiny. When he was getting too popular including his central stake in the Roha band (the best band in Ethiopia majority of its members ironically also Eritrean) the regime had to assassinate him and they used a head on collision by a truck as he was driving home from an event (wedding). Tekle was a legend, a loving person that was loved by Eritreans, Ethiopians and Sudanese equally - I know him personally. It's a shame the world of music lost a legend under dubious circumstances, it's always the case for despotic regimes to get paranoid by influential people.

We failed when we divided. More division may come with endless wars. I hope our kids learn to live together. Growing up 90%/of my friends were Eritreans. When Eritrea was part of Ethiopia, we never questioned where they were from. We ate the same enjera, dressed the same way, talked and wrote almost the same alphabet. These two nations shouldn't have divided. If we looked hard enough there are many things that make us one than that divide us. Religion, food, culture, language, temperament. Hell , I have lived outside of Ethiopia most of my life yet I am closer to Eritreans than I am to other East Africans like Sudanese and Somalians.

We failed when we divided. More division may come with endless wars. I hope our kids learn to live together. Growing up 90%/of my friends were Eritreans. When Eritrea was part of Ethiopia, we never questioned where they were from. We ate the same enjera, dressed the same way, talked and wrote almost the same alphabet. These two nations shouldn't have divided. If we looked hard enough there are many things that make us one than that divide us. Religion, food, culture, language, temperament. Hell , I have lived outside of Ethiopia most of my life yet I am closer to Eritreans than I am to other East Africans like Sudanese and Somalians.
These are one of the few songs I know I will always appreciate, even though I don't understand what they're saying but inshaallah in the future I'll be able to understand.
