1) Nagoa Beach
This horseshoe-shaped beach is almost a twenty minutes’ drive from Diu and a perfect beach to bask in the sun. Located in Nagoa near Bucharwada village, this is an exceptionally beautiful and serene stretch of sand. Getting there is half the fun with the drive winding through pretty countryside and coconut groves. For those who’d rather get their adrenaline pumping the beach has various water sports outfits which take visitors jet-skiing, water-skiing and parasailing.
The old fishing village known by the name of Nagao has a namesake beach shaped like a horse-shoe. Not just its shape it outstanding, but the portfolio too: it is a 2 kilometer long stretch of white sands, unstained sea waters and scantily populated shores. The beach has coconut groves and quiet corners for brooding souls and ample options such as jet skiing, water-skiing and parasailing etc. for adrenaline junkies. What more, there are sufficient food kiosks in the area to keep those refreshment cravings at bay.
INS KHUKRI MEMORIAL
Indian Naval Ship Khukri was a Frigate of the Indian Navy During the India Pakistan Was in 1971 she fell prey to three torpedoes fired on her by a Pakistani submarine on 9th Dec 1971, She sank 40 nautical miles off the coast of Diu taking down with her a crew of 18 Officess and 176 Sailors. Captain Manendra Nath Mulla, Maha Vir Chakra (Posthumous) of the Indian Navy the then Commanding Officer of the ship chose to go down with the warship. The act of Captain Mulla and his valiant crew is a shining example of unyialding spirit and indomitable courage glorifying the highest traditions of the Indian Navy.
This memorial which depicts a model of the ship to scale was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Madhvendra Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Westen Naval Command, Mumbai on 15" Dec. 1999 as a tribute to the gallant officers and sailors who laid down the lives for the country
