Kristy Salgado yeah sadly she does that often. it always breaks my heart. we know she was abused pretty bad before we got her. there are times she doesn't flinch.. and times she does. I think she does trust us but she still has her moments

I'm so glad she's doing better. I was especially scared when you said she'd lost 7 lbs. I felt a lot better when you said she was sill eating though. My Grandpa was a life long farmer and always handled everything with his animals (horses, cows, and dogs) unless it was extremely serious. We'd get scared when he'd have to call the vet. One thing he taught me was that as long as an animal will still eat, they will be ok. It's just a matter of figuring out what the problem is. When you said she had bacteria in her belly the weight loss made sense. Still, a happy and healthy Oakely is better than a happy and not feeling well Oakely. You're great fur parents!!!! Thanks for taking such good care of her.
Dolph, I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy. You know, I love my vet (Grandpa's been gone for a few years now so I have to rely on the vet more), but for something that serious I would seek a second opinion just to gather more information. Unfortunately cancer is very prevalent in dogs. The most important principle Grandpa taught me is when you haven't an animal it depends on you. You are responsible to give it the best life you can and when the quality of that precious life is no longer good, you have a responsibility to give that animal the dignity of a compassionate and peaceful end. As long as Buddy is happy, let him enjoy that happiness. If your vet has suggestions, follow them. Sometimes dogs too can beat cancer. Do all you can to give Buddy as good and loving home. It sounds like you are a great dog owner. I had to make the decision to let my Terrier go about 10 mos after Grandpa passed. Going through with letting that sweet little dog go, and making the decision without Grandpa was the hardest thing to do. But, she had K9 asthma and if I'd kept her going she would have Ben in terrible pain. When that day comes with Buddy, you' ll s the right thing; I can tell that just from your post. So the best advice I have for you is a second opinion, talk to your vet to see what can n w ne, and when it' s time, let go with compassion and dignity for your dog- and let people help you through it. Don't feel like this is your fault. I've been there as I felt I'd let my Mooney down when I had to let her go due to her K9 Asthma. It was a long time before I accepted that I had done the best I could for her and I gave her a happy home (she was a rescue) for lots of years. They never stop loving you. Also, the love a dog has for its owner is so deep that they don't want us to worry and thus they hide a lot of their pain from us. You're doing the right thing by following your vets advice and making Buddy's last days as great as you can. Keep it up, hang in there, and stay in touch with the folks here. We're all dog people and can help you go through this transition. Good luck and thanks for being such a caring fur parent!!!
I am soon glad Oakley is doing better we had a scare 3 weeks ago when our husky Dakota was sick he had a temp of 105 and urinary tract infection it scared us but he is a lot better thanks goodness for our vet who took care of him. God bless our huskys.
Hey Snow Dogs, my ten-year-old yellow lab was brought in to the vet just the other week. It turns out that she also had gut issues. The vet called it garbage gut. It's been about a week and she's doing just fine! Just keep an eye out to make sure she isn't nibbling on something she shouldn't!

Hi, glad to hear that the new medecins are working for Oakley. I loved what you said about support helping. Wise words. I hope Miss Oakeley will be in top form and ready for camping in time. Are you going off alone or with friends? Awesome howling by Memphis! Shelby taught her well. It would be great if you could record each of them while they sing in different rooms and then add the footage together. I have some childhood camping memories with our neighbor's Miniature Poodle howling away, and then our fathers joining in. For a while it became a running joke to go aoooouuuuuuuuu to every wouff of Andy the doggie. No comparison with the howl of your beautiful furchildren. :)
We are glad Oakley is okay. I know how scary it can be. Keith and I been married 31yrs in May and have had a lot of doggies. We have gone through illness, unconditional love, our best friends. Plus death which their spirit stays with you forever. love Joan and Keith Bates, Cookie and Charlie too!
I'm glad Miss Oakley is doin' better. I've had my own stomach condition I've been fighting with, again, for the last month or so, so it sort of makes it a little more of a heart pull than normal. I've been slowly pushing to get back on my feet, hopefully she continues to rebound as well. Don't mean to get into me here, though- it just breaks my heart to see an animal worn down like that- so I just really wanted to say that I'm so glad she's doing better.
