The trio of Marth, Pit, and Ridley is actually just the Smash equivalent of the Pokémon trio of your starter, the early route bird, and the normally Dragon type pseudo-legendary

7-9 mil GSP isn’t a joke. People are very competitive there cuz we’re trying to get into elite. It’s pain. I’d argue it’s more sweaty there than in actual elite
Thanks to the modified smash nuzlocke, I actually have a few characters close to elite smash. I may one day be able to do the elite smash version of this challenge.
I like to think that Ridley was his "False Swiper", even though Ridley is more about impaling, beaming like Godzilla, and more about killing than being merciful than leaving your catch at 1 HP.
So technically in Nuzlocke if you die to a Random Encounter in Pokemon it's still a death. When grinding or catching Pokemon you can still very well lose a Pokemon to a random Koffing using Explosion on your face or something.
It'd be pretty nice to see him get all the encounters he SHOULD be getting if we're going based on the map. Gives him a much better chance to win but also to balance it out make it to where he can lose fighters when he's on a "catch" fight
You could be adding markets, where in like every trainer battle you do you get one item to choose from in the store, like a revive or a specific "pokeball", letting you play until you find a specific "type" of pokemon, or something like a higher catch rate, say you need for example only take 2 stocks or deal 300% dmg or something like that to catch, even if you dont win the fight, a pokeradar, increasing your encounters by one or two depending on how easy it might become there could also be like randomly selected legendary items, a master ball giving you a free catch for example, turning it more into a dungeon crawler type, where every round is somewhat different
Dude with that duck hunt, you were talking matchup experience and I was like "But Cogger's custy Duck Hunt" and then they wall jumped and I had no clue DH could even do that so I guess that's fair enough
I feel like you should add rival battles in here somewhere and have a different rule applied to them, maybe where you fight someone and if you win you get a free character

Hop’s track record is so freaking weird. Not even sure how to explain it but the obvious example is that most of his losses are against encounters and he still made it to the Elite Four. Twice!

As someone with most of my characters at 7 million GSP, yes, most people really are that good, which is why most of my character’s are still at 7 million GSP. I think the reason this happens is because I think that’s the average GSP people start with, so any new characters they try are at that GSP, so they have tons of skills since they’ve played the game for a while but run into other people with those same skills and get stuck. The same thing happens at about 2-3 million GSP, I know because I had a character stuck there for a while and the people I ran into were doing full combos, reads, etc. Only slightly worse than the ones at 7 million GSP
Must be regional because ive never had this problem, even when I raised all my friends characters from 5 mil to borderline Elite over the course of 2 weeks as a joke. I've said it before and I'll say it again. That range of players have 1-2 things they know how to do that works against noobs, which is usually a good combo game or strong reads, but just as easily 1-2 brutal weaknesses that are easy to exploit. If you are losing, I'm willing to wager you see their good points but aren't paying attention to their bad habits. I've won against a 7 million Kazuya who could EWGF 100% of the time but lost to one at 11 million who couldn't once because the 7mil kept air dodging after getting hit, while the 11 million one called out multiple spot dodges of mine and got a shield break when he conditioned me not to spot dodge. I remember in an Underdogs video, Little Z was complaining about how a Pika not in Elite was really good, then Hop called out that they probably didn't know how to quick attack recover, and he was right. The same thing happened here. Just watching, I can tell that Hop played terrible, and so did his opponents because they didn't change their playstyle based on their opponent, so the one with a slightly better style worked better.
They should make a Pokémon game where every random Pokémon encounter you have to beat them in a platform fighter first to 1 stock to knock them out and catch them (like in the show)

That C.Falcon is my exact experience trying to get good at the game. I'm bad, but its hilarious that I can easily get up to 9m on my mains, but then I run into players that seem to just totally shut me down and have crazy movement. Every time, all I can think is "what are you doing down at this GSP" these people even exist at like 4m when I play random character.
Because this whole gsp system is horrible. When I started playing smash I was terrible, so all my characters dropped to around 2 mil. But over time I got better, my mains are just below Elite, yet I still have a lot of characters at low gsp. Even though I'm not especially good with those characters my game-sense is much better, and I gained plenty of experienced, yet I'm still getting matched with people who are in the "getting bodied every game because I'm new" phase currently. This whole matchmaking and ranking system is piss poor.
From my experience, they all have 1-2 things they excell in but 2 major Weaknessest hat can exploited to hell and back. Like ran into say an Icies who knew how desync, but literally every time they got me on a ledge trap, did the worst charged f smash ever, and I so three stocked the, despite them getting an 80% combo instantly. That, alongside jumping after getting hit, air dodging without a jump, and always Rolling after they get hit by one move off ledge are easily the most common weaknesses. Using that Falcon as an example, he was very inconsistent with combos (the reason nobody does up smash there is because it true combos into knee, which is stronger and after the stop could have gotten a true grab as a follow up which would have been better) and went for a lot of bad smash attacks and weird options after hitting shield (like knee into down tilt), so if you stay calm and don't press panic buttons, you'll probably get a lot of punishes. He also kept using his double jump to edge guard, meaning if Hop had jump baired as a reversal, he would be dead at like 60. That's what online teaches you, not how to play your character, but how to pay attention to what others do.
Anyone else notice that the Pichu he lost to called hc was the same person that played Mario in an underdogs video and made them come up with the phrase “hc fair”? 😂
IMO i feel like the only problem is that the encounters are as difficult as the gyms. Maybe you could do your encounters against LV 9 CPUs? That would be a bit easier to get the encounters and it would also make more thematical sense
I remember alpharad once fought a jok4r with hero seemed like he wins he magic burst with 100 mana the joker frame of getting got Arsene and up b immediately being one of the most fucked cause you could tell he was spamming up b the moment he got Arsene
Idk how gsp system is rn but I would imagine 7.5 mil-9.5 mil is purgatory now, all the players who have the ability to get into elite but just can’t because of bad matchups or skmething

I still disagree with some rules. I know this is a parody but during a nuzlocke if a pokemon dies at any point it is gone forever. You should have lost the 1st run when you lost the 1st match with captain falcon
The fact that the starters actually follow the starter types to a degree this time feels really thematic And Hopcat chose Charmander- Nevermind he died lol, he chose Squirtle (Marth now lol)
Also complaining about Jokers moves being invincible when none of his normals, Arsene or otherwise, have invincibility. His lack of MU experience really shined through those fights.

Every time someone says DK or Ganon are free matches, the chance for loss increases to 90% I swear.
