Um, they had locations and special equipment for sawing wood but it was still back breaking work. One man stood in a pit to pull the saw down and another man was on top to pull the saw back up or sometimes they used some sort of "spring".

Uhhh..no. A wild teak tree that size might be a hundred to a hundred and fifty years old, a plantation grown one, probably more like 75. A wild tree '600 years old' would most likely be 2-3 meters in diameter at chest height, the tree in the video is about 1 meter at best.
As for the '1 billion', one billion what? A billion Indonesian rupiah is about 64,513 USD....still a pretty hefty sum for a single tree, so I assume the '1 billion' referred to is a 'guesstimate' at what the full retail price for all the lumber that could be theoretically realized if it were thus sold. Not a likely occurence, and the sawmill operators will surely never see anything approaching that figure. We'll leave what the sawers themselves are paid to the imaginations of the viewers.

Surprised these lads don’t have the temporary turning battens laid higher than the carriage bases. That would eliminate the deadweight lifting process! And the following end of that, and other logs, ends up too close to the blade during the through cut. That is avoidable by loading the leading end with a little more overhang, or if that is not possible, use a substantial lengthy push stick!!

Looking at the stump end of this log it has the typical shape a teak tree trunk has. However, the coloring would be less desirable than the rich brown tones you often see in higher end use .

60 years ago when I was a youngen earning pocket money on a building site, 50 Kg sacks of cement were the norm. Today, anything over 20Kg is considered a heavy load....What a bunch of wimps we are raising. At 75 I can still lift 50Kgs without a sweat.

I have a dining table over four feet wide, over twelve feet long and eight inches thick made from an old growth Teak tree, all one piece, no joining at all. It has very strong Teak as a form of legs though they are not the typical legs of a table, not even legs at all.
This tree they are milling may be older but it is nowhere near the size of the tree this table came from, it's not even close.

Usually one growth ring equates to one year. There are exceptions that are common to each species that can differ from that rate of growth. It all depends on weather and the environment it grows in.

So, I paid $338,000.00 for the sailboat, but I have 5 million dollars in teak onboard? .. wow, I guess I got a good deal eh?

A Billion what?? Certainly it's not a Billion dollars as that log isn't big enough. A friend of my uncles has a medium sized sawmill in eastern Grays Harbor county in coastal Washington state (land of the big trees) that he uses to cut into lumber getting random, short although they could be almost any length, large diameter, old growth fir (and spruce mostly) logs from one of the logging companies that now can't handle that sized wood in the mill they typically use. Delivered in either a large 12 yard dump truck or tied down on a tow behind trailer, he does very well after buying and cutting these rare and getting rarer logs into high end furniture & cabinet lumber and custom table tops mostly that nobody else can handle or process. Very well indeed...
