Can confirm. The Prime series are the only Metroid games I hadn't played, so I was going in fresh. Prime lived up to the hype and the reviews from back in the day. Genuine GOAT contender, it's incredible. Looks better than most Switch games too.

Very glad to hear you enjoyed it! Prime 2 has always been my personal favorite Metroid game period, so I hope the rumors that it and Prime 3 will just be simple upscales and not this kind of remaster are false!

What drives me insane is people thinking Nintendo will devalue their zelda franchise games.
I love the game and never played it on Wii, but $60 was too much. I waited for a sale before buying it. Got it for about $35.

The thermal visor, they made it more "realistic" in the remaster, but it is just a huge mistake that impacts gameplay, it is a blurry mess that makes using the visor a nightmare and literally gave me (and a lot of streamers I watched) headache after 5 mins using it, it didn't happen in the og as the image was super sharp and clear. Look it up in youtube, it is easy to find.
I bought the digital pretty much the same day it shadow dropped, and it was absolutely worth every digital penny.

Don’t diss the original control scheme. It was a HUGE relief for me to learn that the original controls were an option.
Yeah the dual sticks aiming is great but tbh the need to hold X/R + pressing a dpad button to swap beams is just really janky. Honestly the only downside so far though. It feels so smooth being able to aim with the right stick but my muscle memory requires OG controls lmao

This guy didn’t do speed runs and it shows, the earlier the version the better the controls were.
Controls have always been the biggest complaint I had about the GameCube version so having dual analogs after all these years is spectacular game runs, looks, and plays, amazingly and makes me both excited and hopeful Echoes and Corruption will follow leading up to prime 4

have you played the wii version on metroid prime trilogy? the pointer controls work like a dream. you'd be justified for believing that the game was made for that control scheme.
Playing through Echoes for the first time right now, i can’t tell you how much i hope that it’ll get it’s own remake.

Literally like if you had to buy a remaster, any remaster, it’s gotta be this one. It has zero downsides (well, aside from a lack of updated door models, lol), is cheap as hell, and runs beautifully. Plus, it actually has 100% completion bonuses in the form of secret dev artwork, models, and a sound test! 100% rewards for both Normal AND Hard mode are also here, meaning you’ll easily get 20 hours out of it if you’re going for true 100% completion. Seriously, if you’re on the fence, I highly suggest this. I’m no Nintendo shill by any means (I haven’t bought any of their Wii or Wii U ports aside from MK8), but goddamn this remaster is seriously a work of art.
The door models were intended to look like the 2D games where there is way more blue.

Exactly! If you thought the 2d Metroids were either too hard or just not for you, Metroid Prime Remastered is an excellent gateway for possible future Metroid fans
@@IanadayaMetroid is a great series but it's never gonna be for everyone, but Metroid Prime imo definitely is. Everything about the game is amazing with the remaster, and fps are a lot more welcoming than metroidvanias
I bought the game and not only beat it on normal first, I beat it on hard mode already. I enjoyed every penny spent on it, and I enjoyed the experience of my childhood playing this on gamecube.

I'm 26 years old I remember playing this back when it first came out on GameCube and to this day I still have the GameCube version and let me tell you not only was I screaming of pure joy when they announced this remaster when I started playing the game I relived my childhood all over again with pure Bliss between the graphics The game Play the o.g. soundtrack I truly felt like a and as a absolute die-hard fan of the Metroid franchise this game didn't just do the game Justice elevated it by an unforeseen amount I can wholeheartedly say if you've never played Metroid stop what you're doing buy this game and play it I promise you you will not be disappointed you will get to experience how games used to be v when they were at their best

@@aquifer98 I don't know if you have started playing the game yet, but I do have some tips and advice you can use if you haven't:
Scanning may seem like a huge part of the game at first, but it's really not that big of a deal gameplay-wise. Other than boss fights and control panels (which scanning those are actually sometimes necessary), scanning is really only there to clarify what something does/how something attacks you, to give story or flavor text, and for completion, so don't feel pressured into scanning most things you see if you don't want to. If you can't figure out how to hurt an enemy, a general rule of thumb is that you should scan it. If you see a scan-able object marked in red instead of blue or gray, you should scan it as well: The object being red means that it will either tell you more of the story or will unlock something for you!
On the subject of scanning, if you find a cracked wall or something that looks weird terrain-wise (such as a round circle bump by a door), try scanning it. If it gives you a name of a material highlighted with red, it means that wall can be broken by using a specific weapon or attack you might or might not have! While I don't believe the game tells you what weapon or attack will break a material, the name of the material will always be consistent with what weapon/attack breaks it, so just experimenting with everything you have to see what breaks what will eventually teach you.
You can jump in Morph Ball mode. It's never required for completion (the original Gamecube game didn't actually have it), but it can make a few parts of the game a little easier. This sounds like it would be common knowledge, and it is, but I somehow managed to miss it entirely during my first playthrough, so don't overlook it like I did!
When you die, you will be set back to your last save point, no matter how far back it was, so it's generally a good idea to take just a few moments to save when you walk past a save station, especially if it's been a while since you last used one.
Other than that, I believe you know every tip I could give you! I hope you have fun playing the game (or had fun playing it, if you already have)!
the atmosphere is one of a kind
Bought it for Gamecube, bought Trilogy for Wii, bought Trilogy again on Wii U virtual console, bought Remastered. Worth it every time
Do you have a PC? If so I highly recommend playing trilogy on dolphin emulator with primehack. The game is even better with mouse and keyboard, because it plays so smooth
One of my favorite details (I don't remember if it was in the original, it could've been) is the fact your cursor changes depending on how far away what you're looking at is, a sort of range-finder, and while it doesn't really do anything for the player, it's certainly something that Samus would have, and I just find that such a fascinating detail.
I've been playing it for the past few days which I guess is why this popped up in my algorithm and can confirm it's worth the purchase. I did play it on a CRT back in the day and do remember the frustrations. It's much better now and looks great.
For 40 bucks it's a must have on the switch

Picked my physical copy up and I love how you said easy to find when this game is super expensive physically due to how hard it is to find but the game is as great as it was on the gamecube

Made the video before physical released or else I'd have said digitally. But regardless, digital is a way to play it, and it is indeed easier to find than the original prime game since there isn't a digital GameCube game legitimately

I really appreciated that they included THREE control schemes. The original GameCube single stick (which isn’t ideal today, takes some getting used to, but it works), the Wii simulated motion controls with joycons, and the dual stick.
Just that section of the options menu is like a museum.
I really hope, they will finally add 3rd triggers to the back of the system / controller.., which you can access with your middle and/or ring finger..
Hori has 3rd party controllers, with additional triggers, you can assign buttons to..
... and playing Metroid Prime Remaster, with those additional triggers, where you can don't have use/move your thumbs or index finger, so they can focus on the action & movement.., and let your middle/ring finger pull up the scan or jump feels soo gud & fluid!..
PLEASE ADD 3RD TRIGGERS, BUT ADD THEM LOW.., WHERE THE MIDDLE/ RING FINGERS ARE (not to be use with the index fingers, like the first two triggers)
Well said. And as someone who was on the fence (due to how many remasters and ports come out and end up being a waste of money), I bought this last week and it's well worth $40. This game would be worth $60, and Skyward Sword should've been $40 (its an amazing game, too, but isn't as big of an improvement as this remaster)😊

This was one of the first games I ever played, and damn does it feel good to be able to replay it. I’m 21 now but it makes me feel 4 years old again :)

Wild. I was a year old when this game originally released. I remember playing other gamecube games at my cousin's house like Smash Melee, Luigi's Mansion, and Wind Waker but not this game. I just finished my first playthrough of Prime remastered and i was so blown away at how this game went unnoticed by me and my cousins so long ago. This is honestly probably my favorite game of all time.

Also, having this game on the go is an absolute blessing. Tbh, though, this game could have easily been a collection of all three game or at least 1 and 2. Corruption would probably be much more time consuming to change for modern FPS controls.

I'll be honest Metroid Prime Remastered is a Fking beautiful game 💯👌
I just started a few days ago because i got a switch for christmas, and i am loving it, currently at the part after you get the spider ball, backtracking to ruins
I’ve also been a Metroid fan first ever game was hunter on ds a prime 3 but never played the first one until the remaster
The remastered version is not bad the problem is doe we don't have the Fusion suit in this one they don't even give us an extra bonus of using the dread suit if you have the Metroid dread amiibos perhaps waiting for an update on that
They could've gone the pokemon route, rather than amiibos. Have a save file of Metroid Dread and gain access to the dread suit in MPR.
Also, if you want old school controls. It lets you play it in the GC controls. Now idk why you'd that, but its there for that extra challenge.
Imo... its more fun than Dread. Its a game I wouldn't miss.
I never finished the gamecube og when i was a teenager but omg am i loving the remastered. So much easier to play and just as cool as i remembered it
It’s great. Especially when you compare the 40$ price tag to the 60$ tag of the other „remakes“ nintendo released over the last couple of years, like skyward sword, pokemon diamond/pearl and the mario collections i would definitely recommend this to anyone

Ive only played the first 1 and 2 Prime games, so i'm dying for them to release at least a basic hd port of Prime 3 to finally play it for the first time, and would definetely be a way cheaper option over buying a wii/wii u just to play it. Also stoked for them to release the Prime 2 port in HD, its my favorite game between the first two (didn't include 3 in the ranking since I haven't played it yet of course)

I played Metroid Prime Remaster last year back when I got COVID and I was locked in a hotel room for a few days. It sucked being sick but man it was awesome just being able to be away from the world and get lost in that game.
Already did…. Twice…. Digital and Physical.
I kinda like the gamecube controls. But also i was a kid when all shooters used one stick. N64 was actually awesome for that.
Played for the first time. Theres a lot to like about it, but several annoyances that make parts of the game tedious. Nostalgia is a big factor in all the rave reviews.
At first I felt like a metroid fan fraud bcus I never played prime. But ngl... Being able to experience this game for the first time as the remastered update was an absolute treat and holds a permanent memory for sure!
only downside is the blaster bullets dont glow up the room around them like the GC version, except for a very few select rooms
i remember the Og prime was the first game to get perfect 10 from electronic gaming monthly, fellas who were notoriously critical of everything

when Metroid Prime was shown for the Game Cube I was hesitant. going to 3D FPS from didn't seem right. I was wrong. it was amazing. I got the trilogy again for the Wii U and still loved it. then our switch got a remaster of the first game of the trilogy. I was hopeful, but was blown away. it's well worth it. I'm hoping they'll give us the other two games. I'd even buy a remastered Other M.

Late but I want to put this out there, if you experience photosensitivity issues or have trouble with motion sickness this game has problems with both of those and no accessability options to help with them
