- We have done the 6wa cluster retrofit on the F10 ... now it is time to do it on the F30.

Do you have a video where you doing the actual coding of the cluster? Do you use E-sys or something else for programming?

What about immobiliser coding ? Will that be needed?
I see that the long vin on line 0070 and 0080 is all zeros whereas some clusters have an actual vin there alongside the 3 short vins. Was this edited in the end or did the retrofit work by erasing just the 3 short vins?
I have seen clusters with 1, 2 and 3 vins ... what you find in the file that looks like the vin you remove

Can i just change the circuit boards to keep the original miles? I don't wanna mess with that stuff but also don't wanna own a cluster that doesn't show the right mileage
don't think so.
My understanding is that after you hook the cluster up to your car, it will get the mileage and VIN from other ECU's on the system. Its just that the system will either reject the cluster if the VIN doesn't match, or worse, if the cluster mileage is HIGHER Than what is on your car, the other ECU's may take the HIGHER mileage and you could get in serious trouble adding thousands of 'fake' miles to your DME.

When I have done it on the 6wa for the F10 it did not require it. This is the first F30 6wa that I do , will confirm all works after install.
I do the same with a used cluster, but i found 1 long and 3 short VIN numbers. So i replaced all of them in the Hexeditor with FF.
My old 6wa is broken, so i want to replace that, but how can i code now my new virginized cluster?

you still need to code it to the car. virginised = no vin no km

my cluster Reding red dot situation f20 2014
Hi could you help me regarding my car. So I got a cluster from a f80 and I want to install it in my bmw f30. I got the cluster virignised and plugged it in. I don't have a most cable yet. But once I plugged it in there is a tamper dot but with my cars kilometres. What must I get done now? For the cluster to work between my car. I know coding is required and the most cable but I think the tamper dot should not be there? Did the person who virignize it didn't clear the vin?
the cluster requires coding to the vehicle. Sometimes, depending on your FEM Body ecu, you might need to replace that also if you can't see it on the CAN.
Hi if upgrade my standard cluster to 6wa and just enter my cars vin and mileage in to eeprom Will this be enough for cluster to work ? Or do I need extra coding ?

does the f30 cluster only have 2 short vins or is it like the f10 where it has one long and on short?
I remember seeing 2. good practice is to check all the file to make sure you removed everything that is a VIN
Hello, I'm looking at a totalled F20 that has the all black 6WA display, as I want to upgrade my basic BKombi. The black 6WA is from a 2018 model though, and my F20 is from late 2015. The donor car has done about 65.000km, and my car has done about 180.000km. Is is still possible to "virginize" these newer 6WA clusters?
depends on chip ... also many are saying that if mileage is lower you can delete vin easier than mileage ...and the mileage will just update. never tried myself
@@BestCarMods Okay, but the car i manufactured in 2018, so I guess it is a newer chip then?
@@jacobtc on the clusters for F10 there is a change after 2016 and many of the chips are almost impossible to delete mileage. on F20/f30 the story might be different.
How can i power up an f85 cluster on the bench to check the mileage?
