As someone whos been playing since I got Total Annihilation which came with an old Gateway computer... I just love to see this game in general, if the game is entertaining, post it! It makes me deeply happy to see that TA got a spiritual successor, keep this game alive!
I’m a huge fan of these lower level games, I especially appreciate when you point out things they should have done, things that went right, options available etc. Brand new to the game but played TA a ton back in the day. Your videos are much appreciated.
Also, BrightWorks, at 19:16 you're curious why it has 2 zones: The reason they exist is that the game calculates the "expected" range (bright red) based on if the pellets would have had standard Gravity to them, so falling faster due to underpowered cannon propellant, while the "real" maximum range (pale one) that appears when gun with said property is being asked to Manual Fire, does in fact take the flame projectile's lowered gravity into account, which obviously increases the range significantly, and would've been even larger if it wasn't artificially limited down to 1100, as said in unit stats. For some reason that's just the way SOMEONE has programmed that shiny new "initial" range calculation with limited gun arcs. If instead the range limit of the gun in .lua is higher than the gun's "real" maximum range, the bright red circle will be larger than that same gun's pale circle. So, as a fun fact, if you look real closely at T1 Medium Tanks in-game you'll see that due to their projectiles being so slow that they can't actually fire fully out to advertized 350 range on flat ground, instead having 340 range rather at 45 degree gun elevation. (even the gun angle is often not accurate to different units' gun model, often the models have them lifted extra high if the clumped units are wanted to fire over one another, like Hound and Sheldon, so instead I mean .lua gun's angle.) But ultimately, if you see the unit is forced to fire at almost 45 degree arc to it's max range, it means it's horrible at firing uphill by reasons not superimposed by the artificial range paraboloid.
You should absolutely, at all cost and beyond all reason, show us the best of Noob matches frequently, for they often show a lot of off-meta units and strats and epic, tragic fails and comebacks, especially if they last till late T2, early T3. As it was said, Tragedy + Time = Comedy. To be exact I of course prefer more aggressive noob matches, on fun maps that aren't just an empty open field.
Idk, noob matches are always super boring for me because the Hallmark of every Noob Match is excessive passivity. Yellow spent the entire match uncontested bottom, and in response atypical just said, "I'm pivoting bots." Or middle refuses to build units most of the game. Or scale behind the Incinerator. Or pretty much anything else. I have been watching every video on this channel since it started posting, and every Noob Match just gets that little bit harder to watch 😭

I saw one of those incinerators annihilate a line of friendly snipers while it was trying to target ticks. They've definitely got their downsides. The walls were shockingly effective at delaying it, too.
I personally really enjoy the mix of lower level and higher level matches. Higher level ones are cool to see for "optimal" play and lower level are super educational and entertaining due to the more violate nature and viability of more niche strategies.
Not flaming, but what educational content comes from low level lobbies? Nearly all of the players are extremely passive in everything they do. Even when they have a huge advantage, they just don't make units. Or they make them and just rally them straight into the enemy base to die 1 by 1. Heck, Yellow and Teal spent the entire game 1v0 in their lanes, and didn't do anything for most of the game. I think 8v8 for noob matches just isn't worth it.
@TheDeathlyG mostly what brightworks is sharing and pointing out. I learn alot from that myself. They can also be interesting to see what does and doesn't work as well. You pointed out some mistakes that happened in this match and there are many other mistakes happening in other replays as well so it makes it easy for us as viewers to see the extent of what effect that has. We then can internalize the mistakes to avoid those in our own games and think of our solutions to the situations.
BAR is not a large enough community to be able to afford toxic players ruining the experience for others. I don't play, I just watch, and a part of why I don't play is experience playing games with people like that. It takes all the fun out of it. Such players should be handled on a community level when it comes to consequences, IMO
Hey, i'm so excited that you covered a game with me in it for the first time! I'm Karralon and i was playing together with azoc. Just a little bit sad to see it was not the most polite game :D Yes it was frustrating that our team had little aggression or initative going on and the front had very little support the whole game, it felt very bad to constantly have one or two guys from your own team trashtalk you or your lower experienced teammates, especially in such an insulting way. That's why lots of people are afraid to try RTS or atleast the multiplayer and thats just bad for everybody in the end. Instead, just say something helpful like what to do or what not to do. The lobby title even says "NOOBS 8v8". Are you surprised that there's noobs there? And even worse, get so mad that you have to insult them?
Toxic attitudes like that really do boil my p155. You'd think seeing a lobby full of single digit ranked players you'd expect a few of them are still learning the basics.
Exactly. If you're coming into those lobbies with _any_ idea of how to play the game you should be expected to coach and advise your team as much as your APM allows
A while back i played a game with a toxic player who just started to reclaim mexes from the lowest player, when caught kn the act he just continued. Funny thing was that the lower lvl player helped win the game while the toxics player got wiped out by a nuke cus he forgot antinuke
Honestly from my seat in the spectator chair I enjoy noob lobbies a bit more than pros but both are rather enjoyable nonetheless. And I note that both kinds of lobbies can be incredibly toxic so I like to be extra vulgar and make the toxic players shut up, they're a bad reputation and a discouragement to a growing community around a fun game
Cool video! About T2 composition, as mainly Armada Vechicle player i love Starlight+Jaguar Combo. Hope i can get you some cool replay with it! It's very simmilar to Sharpshooter + Welder.

The crux of supreme. Most popular map by far BUT everyone who plays expects meta play and meta timings. Even in these noob lobbies the expectation is too high. Play rotato and have more fun.
Hey man, I love your perspective on the game and the feedback. I played Soul Reel, and I’m very new to RTS games. First off, let me say what a fantastic and unique game it is! However, one issue it suffers from is high-level cowardice. Allow me to explain: too often, I’ve been matched with players in "noob" lobbies who have significant OS and seem overly excited about beating new players. I’ve seen countless times where people with 100+ hours of gameplay talk to new players like they’re dirt. Then there are those who, in real life, wouldn’t dare speak to others the way they do in the game (cowards). Changing game settings at the last minute to switch to ranked and farm OS from new players? Sad. If you have a high rating in a game, here’s a reality check: high elo means nothing to the average player. Please don’t flex-it just makes you look ridiculous. Also, complaining at someone doesn’t help, and if you lack the vocabulary to express yourself properly, maybe put the game down, pick up a book, or step outside. I wish the usual mindset was, "let me help," but instead, I’ve only found a few helpful players while the majority fit the stereotypical RTS player mold. Personally, I play games in my spare time and spend most of my time outdoors, so I play for FUN. With people like that in the game, I can confidently say I won’t be playing for a while, lol. I’d rather spectate. My world is combat sports, so I’m not used to grown people puffing up their chests and doing nothing... it’s sad to watch. Besides my rant, love what you’re doing, bro! Keep going with your craft, and I wish you all the best. Subbed!
Try to shrug it off. Most of the community is pretty decent. Try playing on saturdays with brightworks’ stream. It’s unranked with off-meta settings. Lots of fun and no toxicity allowed.

this game was so cooked but i loved yellow resing light blues basilisk and turning it around to fire at the eco

I learned that if i send out boat scouts and there's nothing there, then no navy and straight into salamanders :D
I went straight T2 once when I scouted no navy and got demolished by Platypus later 🙃

I'm deterred from playing online pvp because of toxic players. I had one of, if not the worst, gaming experience in this game.
