    Thank you. Just starting on my 150 tank. Still trying to figure things out. Either I'm dosing too high or low. Will try dosing smaller during the day. Good tip!

    That's nice information man thanks 🙏
    One thing about my tank my alkalinity dosing is good but the only thing is,if I don't clean where is dosing there some white stuff from the alkalinity in the glass just that I use seachen reef fusion 2 and cal to
    Thanks again

      Make sure you dose cal and alk a different times to make sure they dont come together in the water when dosed. That might be the problem.

    I know this is an older video, but do you still follow the principle of equal dosing?

  • @The_reel_archer

    If you dose manually do you have to dose every day because I have been doing it every three days

      +Reefing Georgian it would depend on the demand of your tank. One way to tell is check alk about an hour after u dose and check in 24 hours. If it's dropping that would mean dosing every day would be a good idea. Also the more often u dose the less impact that dose will have in fluctuating alk. I dose 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

    I want to 2 part dose. What do you add to your ro/di water and how much pr liter?

      Are you talking about mixing the 2 part for dosing? Here is a video on that th-cam.com/video/5KHyGte-Fic/w-d-xo.html
      I always use a gallon jug, ro/di water and calcium i believe is 2.5 cups per gallon and soda ash is 2 cups per gallon. Its on the side of the container.

    Great video Travis. Is there a certain coral/s that you have that takes in high amounts of alk and calcium? Reason for question is that I have a 100 gallon reef and I dose BRS 2 part at 4ml a day. I understand every reef is different. My DKH stays around 9. My growth is very slow though. Any idea what is going on with my tank? It's full of SPS mostly. Thanks!

      What kind of salt are you using? b/c 4ml a day is really low for a tank that size and stocking. Also what are you using to test alk? my starting dose for clients is 15ml per 25 gallons of water on a daily basis after make adjustments based on alk bi-weekly or monthly.

      FishOfHex Thanks for the reply. I use Red Sea standard non pro. This has been a mystery to me. I'm using the Hanna checkers. I've even used a Salifert just to make sure. I'm sure I'm mixing the 2 part correctly as that was another thought. Alk has been holding steady between 8-9 for almost a year now. I don't know what gives. Thanks again!

      Are you getting any growth within the tank? If not and your levels are stable and in the correct range you could always try to increase the lighting and or nutrient control to increase growth.

      FishOfHex I checked my magnesium and it was @ 1150. I raised it slowly since to 1400. Seems like I'm going through magnesium. I usually manually dose it but I may try adding it to the doser. Thanks Travis

    My calcium is at 380 and I want to bring it to 425 but my alk is at 8.5 ...... is it safe to dose calcium at a higher rate until it's at 425 or do I have to match that dose w alk as well? Lots of confusion on internet about having to be equal parts.... also I want to thank you again I bought the 30 frags from you at rap yesterday and they look amazing under the kessils was awesome to meet you appreciate all the videos you do!

      Would a water change be better than adding straight calcium or should I wait until everything is balanced before I do a wc?

    Great info brother. thanks for your hard work. I have a question, I've been out of the hobby for about 17 years. I just setup a 100 gallon. and back when I had my other 100 gallon reef tank, I did have a calcium reactor. My tank looked really good back then, question is i was thinking of dosing B-Ionic on this tank. should I just get a Calcium Reactor again? is it was people go to in the end? what are the down falls to each way? thanks for any info. love your Channel.
    Mark

      i would say dont add anything to the tank until you start to notice alk dips over a week or two. A lot of people want to know when its time to start dosing and ill do a video on this at some point, but i would test your alk the day after a water change and again the day of your next if you notice the alk dropping say from 9.5 to 8.0 over that two weeks its safe to say your coral or coraline algae are using up the cal/alk. at that point you can go with the reactor or two part its really up to you and both will work.

    As I said in my other comment I have low alkalinity and I been dosing accordingly and it still is staying low I don't get it? Should I dose only alk for a few days?

    • @FishOfHex
      @FishOfHex  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      As stated in the video i recommend you dose equal amounts of both.

  • @MikeLemming
    @MikeLemming 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Obviously you have success with dosing but, why do people always say not to dose calcium and alkalinity at the same time? That is what you do isn't it?

    • @FishOfHex
      @FishOfHex  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You dont want to dose at the same time bc they will come together in the water at the point they are dosed and thats bad. I dose the same amount of both but 30 minutes apart.

      @MikeLemming 8 ปีที่แล้ว
