In this answer writing class for UPSC IAS exam, we will discuss in detail how to understand various terms like Discuss, Comment, Critically Examine, Elucidate, Elaborate, Evaluate, Justify, Explain, Compare etc along with some previous year UPSC questions.
Remember: these words mean almost the same thing, except in few questions, depending on the context of the question. Also, "compare", where you must compare the two concepts being asked in a table format is the best way to answer that particular question.

There is one year for this exam so.. How much knowledge we have is not important, eventhough we have knowledge if didn't express what upsc required it's while answer wrtting its not good. So to achieve any goal including civils we have to balance all the things then only finally we will be an future ias

i was always clear in my mind that i shall answer only what is asked in the question , but various institutes have been telling me that introduction is compulsory , conclusion is compulsory , you should write pros and cons , and always write govt schemes in the end blah blah . Now i know, the real deal is , just address what has been asked in question thats it and move on , ultimately marks are not for introduction and conclusions , marks are allotted for content .

Do we need to give intro and conclusion in Enumerate ?
Sir, when the directive word is "Do you agree", do we need to present both for and against the topic and then conclude with our opinion or do we only present one side of the issue reflecting our opinion? By the way, Thank you sir for the initiative..
I think we shall provide both sides of the issue and conclude in a diplomatic manner.
Example, if it's the context of new IT rules, we shall provide both sides of the issue (the government arguments as well as the intermediaries') and conclude by saying that as much as freedom of speech is part of Fundamental Rights, it's not absolute and threat to national security is a restriction on it. However the manner of notifying the rules explicitly on the executive dominance breaching the legislature can set a wrong precedence for the future.
P.S. it's not a perfect conclusion, but just to have an idea.
