If I can suggest an episode, at Universal Studios Hollywood, they recently refurbished Jurassic Park to Jurassic World. In doing so, they opened the Isla Nu-bar with quite a few delicious tiki drinks. Could you make your own Jurassic World themed drink?

The foaming from pineapple is the bromelain breaking down proteins.
Add it to your after workout shake (helps process protein quicker) and it's really good for tenderising cheap steak.
My food science degree finally doing something xD
(Additional fact: Pure pineapple can denature human skin from the pH3-4 AND the bromelain. So don't eat too much raw or you can get mouth ulcers

I found your Dole Whip video a few months back, which inspired me to do a Tiki birthday party with the few friends in my social circle. I made a menu with 18 drinks - all recipes from your videos - and we had an absolute blast giving them all a try over the course of the weekend! I was extremely pleased to find that the flavors leaned so much more on herbal notes than I initially thought they would, and I don't think there was a single one I didn't enjoy. Funnily enough, our top rated drink of the weekend, which happened to be the last one we made, was the Dole Whip! And now I have three more to try! Thank you for all the research you do, and for all of the work you put into making such high quality videos!

I have a bunch of Tiki drink books. One of the things I read about Don the Beachcomber, was that he worked in a soup kitchen, in a Chinese neighborhood. So, when he opened a restaurant, he served Chinese food, because it's what he knew.
That could be why, at most Chines restaurants, the drink menus include most of the famous Tiki drinks.

I know this is from six months ago, but that lime squeeze is stiil _pretty cringe._ You should attempt to _invert_ the fruit by having the convex shapes meet. That way the juice sacs get a tighter squeeze, thus, a fuller hand extraction.

There always seems to be people like that out there from that generation and the one just after; a good few end up in Australia. There was a lot wrong with the world at the time, but the good things they had included easier passage across borders, better social security (esp immediately after the War when countries realised they had a duty to care for their citizens) and a flowering of attitudes rejecting the establishment. If you wanted to just travel around the world, work for dodgy shipping or sales companies then jump off wherever the surf was awesome, get by on menial work or go off grid, you could do that.
There's Crocodile Harry, for instance, who claims he arrived from somewhere in eastern Europe (where exactly no one really knows; some say he was a Latvian baron) post-WW2 having fought for the Nazis in Latvia, spent time poaching and wrestling crocodiles before ending up in the middle of the desert, in the opal-mining town of Coober Pedy, where he lived in a dug-out cave that he decorated with "memorabilia" like nude female sculptures and the underwear of the numerous women he apparently bedded (what people would call a "colourful character").
I myself met some French guy who bar-kept at a weed cafe in the tiny town of Nimbin, who had a different claim about something he did tailored to every person he talked to. In one hour I heard him say he was a film director, a professional racecar driver, worked in the Caribbean, on the team who designed the Petronas Twin Towers, and a low-level spy for French intelligence based in Singapore. Pretty much everything seemed like B.S., but you just couldn't tell where the truth ended and the B.S. began.

The submarine bit is most certainly embellishment, I he was on a transport that was successfully attacked by an axis submarine he would most certainly be dead. If a submarine hit a transport (Liberty, Victory or other) the ship would most certainly be going down quickly. Also he claimed a U-boat attack in the south pacific... If he were in the Atlantic it would be more believable.

...so there I was, standing at my home bar, enjoying a history lesson, eight or so minutes into the video, enjoying the biography of Donn Beach, and I realized I hadn't poured a drink yet! So, deciding this was going to be a history episode, I rewound the video a few minutes to listen again as I mixed a cocktail. And almost as soon as I finished, the mattress promo ended, and you started making a drink!
Greg, this is my long-winded way of saying that if you're going to make a drink, please do so early in the video so that I can follow along without jumping around and missing your history lesson(that I thoroughly enjoyed). Let's shake a drink up in the first few minutes, and then sip on it as we listen to you tell us about your chosen topic.

I went overboard with the Tiki thing a few years back. Have a Zombie tiki mug made by Vern Langdon, several Munktiki mugs including the one that caused me to end up with a case of Velvet Falernum (still have 9 bottles - need any?). Of all of the different drinks, the one that impressed me the most was a Zombie. I made one with the specific liquors and it cost me ~$170 to make, but just one and I didn't need any more. I live not too far from what was a Trader Vic's (wish I could turn back time) and still enjoy the cult culture of the whole thing, but it is no longer the centerpoint of my life. Enjoyed the video, history and humor and, of course, the slo-mo when you are pouring, sort of ASMR for the eyes.👍👍👍👍👍

I have made an order on Curiada. I was very skeptical when they said they could deliver to North Carolina, since my understanding was that it is illegal here both to send and to receive alcoholic beverages without a license. Perhaps the law has changed recently.

Love this channel, and I've never done this before, but wanted to make a semi-endorsement for the Helix Mattress to corroborate the sponsorship endorsement. (I've never seen anyone else promote or sponsored by Helix before this). We purchased our California King Helix Luxe almost 4 years ago, and it is by far the best mattress I have ever slept on. After breaking my spine and undergoing total disc replacement, and several discectomies, the Helix is the first and only mattress to not cause me any pain from sleep. When ours officially dies, I will replace it with the same immediately... Anyway, thanks How to Drink for the awesome content!

B.G. Reynolds fassionola is closer to the original. This stuff (coctails n sons) uses fruits (strawberies, pineapples)that were not used at the time (mid 1920 - early 30s) when fassionola was invented so the flavor profile is completely wrong.

Well, I tried the QB cooler. Ginger syrup seems like an inferior falernum. And while at first I could see the resemblance to the Mai Tai, it quickly faded. The more I drank the less like a Mai Tai it seemed. No creaminess from the orgeat, too much spiciness, too many flavors muddled together. It wasn't a bad drink, I don't regret making it. But I don't think I'll ever make it again, and I will keep making my weekly Mai Tai.
