People, hold your horses. This is the first World Cup in 1975. Pakistan had West Indies reeling in the chase before wicketkeeper Deryck Murray and the bowlers took them across the line. The tour of West Indies came a year later where Maajid scored 167 and Waseem Raja 117*. In one Test, Pakistan had West Indies reeling in the chase before --- you guessed it --- wicketkeeper Deryck Murray and the bowlers took them across the line!
Yep I thought it was the 1975 world cup not 1976 windies toured England in 1976 remembering going to the oval and watching the infamous Tony Greig grovel!!!
I heard about this knock from a former powerful opener Majid Khan of Pakistan, but thanks to you, watched it & enjoyed every bit of Majid's carefree batting.
Can anyone tell me which ground and in which year this match was played? There is no match between WI and PAK in 1976. So, it must be either 1975 or 1977. Also, the ground looks like somewhere in England.
It is the first Worls Cup Criket ( named as Prudential Cup) hosted by the England in 1975 but not in 1976. That was a semi final match but Pakistan lost it against the mighty WI and eventually WI became the Champion.
@@sohelsaheen Pakistan met WI in the Semi final in 1979 (which was held at The Oval). This is the group game from the 1975 World cup held at Edgbaston.
Maji khan the majestic Majid was in his peak form in 1977 Test series against west indies who had a battery of world class fast bowlers like Andy Roberts Joel Garner Colin Croft.Majid and Wasim Raja scored heavily against them.
NO HELMETS!!!... And That against the Mighty Windies and all of their Legenrdary Pace Battery at their majestic peak... for me That is why the players of the 60-late 70s are the the ultimate Gavaskar, Majid, Javed, Mustaq, Viswanath were simply fearless & superior to ANY Subcontinetal players of the 90s onwards... Except for Maybe PONTING. Can you imagine These legends like: Laxman, Dravid, Tendulkar, Kholi, Sharma trying to score while facing the likes of Holding, Roberts, Marshall, Lillie, Thomson, Bret Lee, Waqar, Wasim or Akthar without the Helmets?💩💩💩...🤭🤫🤪😷🤯🥺😱🙅
Majid Scored 167 i believe in Barbados. The worst wicket along with Sabina Park.I saw him play in Jamaica during the 75-76 series.Clearly he was moving in slow motion. The bowlers were Holding, Roberts and others.
Mate, I think you were blessed to witness that powerful innings of former prolific opener Majid Khan of Pakistan against the most ferocious West Indian pace attack in the cricketing world.
The greatest day for Pakistan no world cups can ever replace what they achieved against the West Indies in this test series in 1976 and in 1987. Thank you Mushtaq Mohammad, Javed and Imran khan of fulfilling the dream.
That was in 88 Pakistan tour of west indies,in which Miandad scored 3 centuries,2 in Tests and 1 in Odis,Pakistan very near to won the Test series but in last moments Ambrose gets Javed out, thus the last test match ended in a draw.....that was Ambrose's debut series....
Majid was a vegetarian, didn't even eat eggs. Very well educated and a thorough gentleman. No fussy reactions like kneeling down after scoring big runs. Pakistan cricket and nation need more people like him.

What a fine cricketer he was. Brilliant knock.
Majid a great player class act and a good looking guy

In that series Wasim Raja also scored 500 plus runs and also hit incredible 18 sixes in 5 tests
Thanx for sharing this information, mostly people does not know the class of Wasim Raja(rip)
Majestic Majid !!

majid khan led cut master world no 1
This is England ground. It is most probably 1975 WC match.
Wasim raja was another class act. Excellent against pace, not that great against spinners.

4 bowlers who bowled 90+ and see the class of the man...
No helmets too...
This was the pure raw form of cricket
In this match in 1975, besides Roberts, the other bowlers were Boyce, Julien, Gibbs and other part-time bowlers
90 mph is no joke but there were no speed guns@@VSV659
This game was not played in 1976,it must have been the year before. Neither Holding or Daniel are part of the bowling attack.

Mohsin followed style of Majid and Miandad followed style of Mushtaq in batting
Why our mediocre batsmen these days cant follow styles of our greats.
@@sibghatmansoor5125Because of the addition of T-20 cricket. It seems to me that they spend too much time on social media. They don't work hard.
Even Ramiz Raja looked like Majid Khan in his under 19 days.

Radio commentary suni the 1976 mein aaj dekha . Thanks .
Majid Khan once made a century against Windies, I suppose before lunch. If you could post that video, that would be great.
Classic elegant batsman.
Did you know he had 40.40 vision. His highest score was against the west indies in Barbados.75-76 series.
Thanks for that interesting piece of information about his vision. He deserves greater credit, as he was basically a good eye player
