Came here from the wisecrack channel, this is great! Definitely subscribing. I appreciate that it's not total gloom and doom, but that you're also pushing forward with that same intensity, since that's what we need to really fix this problem. I have relatives that say we can't make the change to clean energy because it's not efficient enough, but never want to spend the money to developing the technology.
Came here from wiserack and the dread that video filled me with is going away a bit. I never even thought about something as simple as switching my bank. Definitely excited to implement some of these ideas into my day to day life.
i keep finding gems like your channel (here, courtesy of wisecrack) and i get very happy when i see the video you guys made with robinson and seeing it's got close to a million views but then i see the numbers under the other vids and it's back to square one (aka the pit)... also i'm from france and politics here feel the same ( went from getting a left coalition majority only for nothing to change, literally, we got the same "whip", same prime minister, same president in complete fucking denial...) wish you guys all the best though and will continue to watch and share
I would like to thank Rise Against for giving me that space in art and media to be angry with society and finding more hope to push for a brighter future I have been watching wise crack for awhile since I think the old host was on, it gave me a very abstract place in understand the world. I hope yellow dot is something I can build community through and laugh with others. Give it a more positive feel thank you guys for the work you do
Love all of this and I'll be supporting through any means that I can. Thank you both for creating this and hope to see much more of this in the future!
Comedy is so important because comedy breaks sadism. When we view the corporate response to climate as the powerful abusing their power a whole world of material appears.
So glad more folks want to create content that's hilarious and- dives into climate issues. I follow 'ClimateTown' on TH-cam and now I'll add this channel to my sub list too. (Here because of 'Wisecrack' recent video; good channel as well).
Don't want to be vegetarian? Try eating one meal less. That actually led into eating less meat as well for me, plus other benefits. My job isn't sedentary but doesn't burn that much fuel that I go hungry either. Worth a try. Same thing with work from home, walkability/transit and rezoning - they can improve your quality of life and your environment. Plus there's channels like wisecrack, climate town, NJB that are educational and entertaining if you're not in need of switching your brain off. In music apparently there's Jeff Rosenstock's "HELLMODE" (commenter suggested in part 1) my favorite - Rap News by Juice Media. There's gotta be more, right? There was Jamiroquai's first album before the lead got into fast cars and parties.
21:03 We are not "post covid". Even the WHO only said we were out of the crisis (which could return at any time and our governments sure seem intent on giving that every opportunity)
I came here coz Michael from wisecrack said I should watch and subscribe and I haven't found him ever say anything I disagreed with, just really articulated well and gave evidence for things I already thought. So here I am. Reinforcing my beliefs :P
I love this discussion, but, first and foremost, where do I get one of those Nurture Nature hats? Is it tied to any sort of non-profit? I participate in more conversations that my hats and shirts elicit, that I'm convinced that movements need mantra and mantra needs media. Anything to expose, on a daily basis, a fresh mindset that counter programs what we're inundated with daily by billions of dollars of marketing from oil, financial, and other anti-human institutions. Anyway, about that hat...
one thing I'm very excited for recent developments in using masers for geothermal drilling.. oh and Wisecrack says hi, or something I wasn't paying attention
...and what about the misinformers? Don't the ad agencies that take their money and deliberately use their media marketing skills to create the misinformation for them have a cross to bear? Shouldn't *_THEY_* be liable for their actions too?
As communicators for change, Yellow Dot might be interested in the behavior change research on dietary change. Maximalist instructions (i.e., eat as close to 100% plant-based as possible) engender larger dietary shifts than minimalist instruction (i.e., start with one meat-free meal). For what it's worth, animal agriculture is HUGELY discounted in the research on climate, which often discounts methane or doesn't account for the totality of the externalities associated with meat, dairy, egg, and fish production (e.g., waterway pollution, razed forests, monocropping corn and soy, etc.). So limiting meat, dairy, egg, and fish intake AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE is among the most impactful things we can do as individuals.
Came for wisecrack, stayed for the relief from existential dread
Thanks for hanging out with us!
I came from the Wisecrack video, and I was disappointed because you didn't talk about Marx in this one.
Always a pleasure.

So many people avoiding the word vegan. It’s easy! Go vegan, get an electric car and don’t fly if you don’t need to.

Here from Wisecrack! Working on getting an organic farming degree. I'm looking at writing grant proposals and designing urban gardens

Looks at fission power plants. Efficient fuckers that would make your electricity super cheap.
