    guys, get a radiator pressure pump so you can pressurize it while cold. then finfing the leak should be much easier....possibilities include head gasket, freeze plugs, water pump & gasket, hoses & clamps (an over tightened clamp can cause a hose to leak), and probably more i cant think of off hand.

    Recruiting new cruisers wherever you go. Love it. For Cole and the coolant leak, if it's not the hoses, reservoir, or water pump, suggest putting paper towels or sliding a leak absorbent pad under the engine and taping it in place. Run the engine a bit and watch it run until the leak starts. By having the pad or paper towels down should help you isloate the leak quickly. Just hoping it's not a pinhole leak in the head or block. If it is and it's still under warranty suggest you fight yanmar for a replacement once you are back in the States. Cheers guys

    Could be a bad head gasket. Check you oil dipstick to see if it's discolored.
    I'm enjoying your journeys.

    Hay guys, love your Chanel.
    Re, your coolest problem. Oh. I've just heard you say that it's leaking into the bilge. Mmm, wipe everything down, wipe the bilge dry & lay some paper in there, check it regularly & hopefully you'll see some dots of coolant on the paper & hopefully it can help you find where the leak is. My original thought was you could have a faulty heat exchanger & it's leaking into the raw water & going out the exhaust. Mmm. Well I hope you find the problem. All the best. Monday afternoons are always great when Adventure Crews drops a video.
    I will have to agree with you on the spear fishing vs rod and reel fishing. I'm just not into rod and reel fishing. Great video you guys. Cheers from Texas.

    I really enjoy the channel! Not a pro mechanic, but have been working on all sorts of engines for 35+ years. Coolant leak is probably occurring when the engine is hot and under load. (duh, I know) Maybe get a camera that can live feed to an iPad or whatever and poke it down in there while the engine is running and closely examine all the hoses/connections, around the water-pump/heat exchanger or radiator, raw water pump if there is one, all around the cylinder head maybe along the sides of the block. I would think the coolant weeping out of the block is a relatively low probability, and if it were a head gasket issue you would be seeing coolant in the oil (probably) But I think it would most likely be a connection somewhere and only happening when there is a lot of pressure on the system.

    About the coolant leak. What you can do is put down one of those diaper like pads. They are the size of small towels. Leave it there first overnight with the engine off....gotta start with a clean bildge. Might have to tape it down so it doesnt fly around. Then if you can't find any drops of coolant, then start the engine and run it for a bit. Shut ot down and check for any spots. Depending on how fast the leak is you can eventually find what side of the engine the leak is on...A lot of the water pumps out there have a graphite bearing in the water pump housing. As it starts to go there is a little weep hole on the casing under the spindle area...this might be the source of your mystery leak. The bearing might not be big enough to close the weep hole but still functions. New seals wont stop this kind of leak.

    I had a similar problem on a balance 482 we found freshwater with antifreeze down in the bilge compartment of the engine bay and what we found out is the hot water heater which when the engines are running go through the engine block and then into a cavity of the hot water heater and then back to the engine. What happened was a breach in the sidewall inside of the water tank and with the water recycling through the engine it would Escape through the fill Reservoir. Also that line is under pressure and it depleted the water tank level. So if you're noticing the water pump on that hull running when you're not using it and notice the tank being depleted this may be your problem.. Once your freshwater tank is deleted there is no more Supply going to your engine and I suspect that's when you may be finding your water levels low.There are two hoses going into the top part of the heat exchanger that we were fortunate enough to have a small valve that we could shut off the water from the engine going into the hot water heater. That solved our problem temporarily and we can still use hot water if we use the electric element. I might suggest inspecting your Reservoir while the engine is running and put a demand on the hot water..

    Another amazing video! Keep it up :) - on your coolant issue have you checked the manifold gasket? (I just read somewhere about it and mentioned you can loose coolant if there is an issue with this part).

    • @adventurecrews
      @adventurecrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have check that one and it doesn’t seem to be the issue. Thank you for the comment and for watching

    I had a Yanmar 54 hp engine, 2005, and it developed an antifreeze leak. After half my hair was pulled out of my head I found that at the antifreeze expansion tank hose coming off the engine at the base of the twist on heat exchanger fill cap, the little hose fitting had a cold solder defect. I took a plumbers torch and resoldered the fitting next to the cap. Being careful to have a high level of antifreeze in the tank to dissipate the heat from the torch before it damaged the twist on cap ‘s base that is pressed into the casting of the heat exchanger. Since it’s an easy fix I hope that is your problem. Cheers.

    You guys are going to love the Vinyard. I used to go every year. It's very colorful, just like the Bahamas. I'm originally from Boston. Hope you make it to Maine. I go back to visit every year in September and October it's my favorite time of the year in Maine. The colors are fabulous. Safe travels

      If you're going to be in boston Harbor, try to be there in August they have the italian feast going on that month. The best place to stay is constitution marina its walking distance to the northend where the feast is held. The food is awesome. Or you could anchor at Constitution Beach that's in East Boston near orient Heights Yacht club. I'm a member there they will let you use the marina to dock your dingy. Walk up the street to the train station it's very convenient. Marblehead is beautiful. They have a great marina as well, cape Ann is great. I love going to Provincetown. It's like key west very entertaining. If you are going to head into main, you will go buy Salisbury beach. And they have an awesoseafood festival there. I'm not too sure if it's the end of August or in September sometime, the best seafood. That's for starters. I follow you guys on Instagram. I'll send you a message if you have any questions

    Cold engine leaks are notoriously hard to find. After you run the engine, shut it down and place pads under it to see where the leak is from.

    Start a thread for you sailing couples where you post your best fish recipe for us to (and you) to see.

    • @adventurecrews
      @adventurecrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great idea, where do you think is the best place to host the thread?

    • @thezman511
      @thezman511 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adventurecrews I don’t know tbh. I’ve been thinking about it. Perhaps each embeds it in their video. I don’t know what that would entail to post the recipe and then show the prep and cook (not a cooking show style although that could take off, most want to see the sailing and the lifestyle). I know everyone of the couple are constantly cooking fish in different ways and getting out their best recipes slowly would be fun for the fans.
      (Entirely possible it would just be fun for me 😆)
      There really isn’t a common place you all go so a Reddit thread would become dormant fairly fast. Adding it to the video might be easiest because ppl are already there. Most of us watch other channels as I’m sure you do, you could plug other recipes you like across the industry driving subscribers and views (theoretically in a perfect world). May he too much trouble but seems like another layer to the lifestyle that is touched on briefly.
      Hope that helps 😂👍🏼

      I am hear you here! So I definitely like to cook…but I am no professional chef by any imagination. Funny enough we have found that we actually show more cooking than we ever would have imagined before starting this journey simply because 3 meals a day does day up a good amount of time each day when you can’t just run down the road and pick something up. Maybe think is an idea for our website…definitely something we will throw around. In the meantime I definitely think you should check out our friend Will’s channel @cookingwithclams he is an awesome chef down in the keys.
