The connection between Aku and the Lich is they're both ancient, immortal, demonic villains of darkness with horns from Cartoon Network shows whose evil cosmic essence (the Black Mass and the Green Catalyst Comet) landed on Earth during prehistoric times which caused the extinction of the dinosaurs and laid dormant before being released into the world and taking physical form after coming into contact with man-made weapons (an arrow doused in Poisonous Elixir and the Mushroom Bomb). Before their arrival on Earth, both of their essence were attempted to be destroyed by godly beings (the Three Ancient Gods and Urgence Evergreen) who were unable to do so because of circumstances (the Gods attempted to exterminate the Black Mass but a small remnant of it escaped the confrontation unnoticed, while Urgence Evergreen created a magical crown to stop the Catalyst Comet but was attacked by Magwood and trapped under an ice block before he could put it on). Both would wreak havoc on the world after emerging but were defeated and sealed away in a tree by a great warrior (the Emperor and Billy). Both were eventually freed from their imprisonment to wreak havoc again years later and killed the now elderly warriors who imprisoned them but were thwarted by a young man wielding a magic sword (Samurai Jack and Finn). Both are nigh-unstoppable due to being impervious to conventional means of harm, with their weakness being mystical weapons wielded by their greatest enemies (the Katana and the Gauntlet of the Hero). Both achieved their goals in an alternate timeline (Aku ruled over everything in the Future, while the Lich successfully caused the extinction of all life in the Extinct World), though would grow depressed years later for personal reasons (Aku started losing hope of ever defeating Jack, whereas the Lich became catatonic due to having lost his purpose). Both would also have extensions of themselves akin to children (Ashi and Sweet P) who they tried to manipulate for sinister purposes but would break away from their evil influence and assist the heroes in their father's ultimate defeat. Both have a history of taking possession of others to become their pawns, including a love-interest of the protagonist (Ashi and Princess Bubblegum). Both were also based off supernatural entities (Aku is based off the evil Japanese spirit Akuma, while the Lich is based off an undead creature of the same name found in classic fantasy fiction).

@@gadlygamer Aku can only be harmed and killed by Jack's sword, made from righteous virtues. This is explicitly stated in the show. If the Lich cannot get his hands on the sword or an equivalent, he flat out cannot even harm Aku.

I'm not sure, both have slot of abilities, even some of the same ones.
Also in the comics aku was said to have distorted the multiverse in samurai jack, which has infinite timelines.

The immortal enemy disguised himself as an innocent looking old man too sneak up on the eternal warrior just like the lich disguised himself as billy to do the same to Finn. In short both disguised themselves as an old man, in order to sneak up on the hero
