"the pub landlord" character is an extreme british nationalist. The real man is very different.

Bear in mind, he's playing a character, taking the piss out of small minded people. He's not really like that :)

The girl in these videos (I’m sorry I don’t know your name) reminds me so much of the actress Heida Reed from Poldark. She now stars in FBI: International. The facial expressions, teeth, everything are so similar! Beautiful!

As others have said, he plays a character to make fun of over-patriotic British people. He plays a man stuck in the past, with petty hatred’s and xenophobic views about the world. He is meant to be laughed at!

It's a parody of kind of bigot 99.9% of brits have met at sometime somewhere, and in my humble opinion it's a very good parody 😁

Al Murray’s pub landlord is a character, just like sacha baron cohen who went to Cambridge, it’s an act, he’s not like that at all. The guy went to Oxford Uni, he’s incredibly switched on.

Try Al Murray, Global Finance for your next Al Murray reaction. It is a really funny video, Al does loads of great accents, some with a clever twist, and the whole thing builds and builds. It's hilarious.

I enjoyed Al Murray's use of the dual (or even triple) meaning of standard English words, viz werewolves and periods with respect to phases of the moon.

Hot and spicy food (India) and Olympic quality athletes (Africa)
He actually doesn't speak like that off stage; it's all an act.
Highest mountain in Britain (Scotland) is about 4,200 feet which is nothing compared to India.

I think you've missed the fact that he's playing a character, 'The Pub Landlord'. Hence the bar on stage. In real-life Al's a highly intelligent, thoughtful man, with a degree in history, from Oxford University. In contrast, the Pub Landlord is loud, opinionated, jingoistic and old-fashioned. He's a know-it-all, whose knowledge is deeply flawed and whose opinions are heavily biased and nationalistic.
By playing such a character, whilst mocking other countries, he's mocking Britain even more, especially the old-fashioned attitudes and hyper-patriotism, displayed by the Pub Landlord himself. The Pub Landlord may see himself as the font of all important knowledge but in reality he's a figure of fun, who frequently gets things wrong, whilst trying to justify British superiority in all things. He's a narrow-minded, anachronistic and ridiculous character. That's the main joke.
As with all parodies, there are those who don't see the joke and think he's speaking the 'honest truth', which just makes it funnier. There are even some on the right who see him as a spokesperson for their views, which is hilarious as they'd probably hate the real Al Murray. :)

He's very cheeky basically playing the part of an outspoken overly nationalist irreverent know-it-all pub landlord. The type who knows everything there is after a few drinks!! It's all very tongue in cheek - not meaning what he says. I love his cheeky attitude making fun of all countrys - including the British!
