Another great video bro, 68 degrees is a very cool day for south Louisiana. I'm about to purchase a MR45 soon, because of how it works for you. Again great video!!
Nice job thank for showing the neat install of what it's suppose look like after job done the newer guys this how it's done .Thanks for show newer guys of what you run into on a service call .Dave l wish l was there 60F heat wave .Weather in Northeaster cold 5F degree with wind chill -5F for over 10 days high during day is 18F .
Thanks for taking us with you on that one from start to finish. I like that you always give tips for the new guys, your a teacher at heart. Oh yeah that was a jacked up roof Lols on "sideshow Bob" comment. We were about 60 degrees in Stockton. Not too bad in Cali lately 😅
4* wind chill in Dover, DE yesterday. Job was in the middle of a giant strip on the highway with football fields on one side & Dover Speedway on the other. With many layers on I was still freezing haha keep up the good work Davo!
So the semi hermetic compressor was piped to that other condenser coil in the Wood shack. Looked almost like a ice machine condenser. Crazy 😜 Fine looking install.
Hey , you got Longo from the Rays ,he was originally from Downey. We stole him from Cal and he was a good dude never complained. Good to see the Frisco Giants can pay him the big bucks finally.
Out in California you don’t have to paint Armaflex with white UV paint? We have to in Florida because of the sun deterioration of just regular Armaflex. Thank God someone came up with the rubber coated Armaflex. Once we started painting the other stuff birds started to sit on it and rip it apart for their nest.
Nice work! Looks better than the turd in the background. I have a question concerning what appears to be a oil trap at the suction line before it penetrates in the roof. Can you give some insight on its purpose & how it works? I'm a little unclear on that. Thanks.
Thank god they called dave this time...looks like they been using Hacks R Us for the last 20 yrs...what a mess...now its done right by the best...nor cal dave 😀
Neat stuff. only difference is .. i would of taken all that old equipment down and harvest what ever was re-usable i build my units so bases receivers etc i collect how come you didn't opt for keeping the compressor inside.. and condenser on the roof.. . also doesn't cali Believe in remote units? compressors inside condensers on the roof.. but again Dave real cool job!
"Wall of sound". You should drop a tombstone in front of that old unit. If 404A is on the naughty list, why do companies still produce units with it? I read that 410A is on the outs too. What do you think?
Apprentice Phil I think use till the manufactures change. Everyone panicked over R-12 and R-22 we still have equipment that runs on R-12 replacements and R-22 units still out there. When OEM s make the change then we will also.
That's a great looking job. Since I don't do refer work how do you size the line sets ? Hvac sizing is different. Also how does the inverted suction trap work? I have seen them the other direction right after the evaporator but never seen it this way. Thanks. I miss watching the v1 in your videos.
brad mironik the sizing is similar to AC in the size of the unit what refrigerant your using length of line set, and which application freezer or medium temp. Also your location ambient
Cleaning is always the first. We have 13 machines on property, mix of manufacturers and decades, but my relatively new Ice-O-Matics are the "canaries in the mine shaft" when it comes to water quality or cleaning schedule running behind.... they are always the first to crap out.
GSI Jimbo R404a is still cheap in the USA 130$ for 24Lbs on existing equipment or change outs still the go to here. When OEM change we will run what they use. Example reach ins are R290 on most new ones now.
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C rough figures but 90 quid for about 10kilos is awesome. I've seen some crazy prices here. All i use is 404 or 134. Newer gases are not used to much on the stuff i work on. But they are pricey too and cant get hold of it. Yet despite the phase down, all the new equipment is still sold as 404a
Just love your videos. But can we donate or something to get you a some kind of a microfone? Can't hear sht. Or is it just the distance? Long way from Santa Cruz to Finland.
He Had the Supply house do it. Im sure He Mentioned that it Was a Wood Box to the Supply House when he was Giving them Dimensions. Also Most of those Old Wood Boxes are 6" thick walls. So, usually not a Problem. You never Know How the inside insulation is on those Boxes. It's a crap shoot. But, usually not an issue 9 out of 10 times. He looks Good on the Unit btu's. All Those Glass Doors is What u Really have to make sure u put in your calculations. He Had like 9 Doors. What u Have to Take into consideration with 9 Doors is How Busy the Place will Get on a Hot Summer Day and if the Place Has airconditioning inthe Store or not. Plus there is One Big Door to Consider for Loading Product too. He Put the Biggest Condensing unit he could on with that Evap. Evaporator is The Limitation at this Point. I Believe it was a AA46-230B Which Means its a 23000 Btu Evap and He said His Condensing unit will do 26,000 Btu's so He's Properly Matched. You Allways Want Your Condensing Unit a Little Bigger than Your Evaporator. It's Like Having a Big Engine ( condensing unit ) turning the tires = (evap) on a car. Tire size = Btus of an evap as an anology. The Key to Keeping that System Working Now is Keeping that Evaporator Clean. It Needs a Good Hot water Cleaning with coil cleaner before Summer to Make it Work Good Through summer. Also That is a 18 Year old Evap. So its not Long for this World anyhow. Evap leaks coming soon. ( serial number G00 = July 2000 Manufacture date. I Did a Rough calculation in My Head When i saw that Box Basically You Need 1,000 Btu's Per Foot in a Box Like that Minimum. 9 Doors = approx 20' Box x 10' wide x 8' tall. 20' long = 20,000 Btu's needed minimum for a cooler like that with Glass Doors. He's Got 23,000 at the Evap and 26,000 at the Roof. That System Should Kick some Pretty good Ass with the 1 1/8" Suction 20' run too to suck on that 7/8" to the evap line. I Think that Customer will Be Very Happy compared to that Major Piece of shit that was Running up there before. Night & Day Difference i'd say. Customer electric bill will Also Probably Be cut in Half Compared to That old Junker running before. A Payback of $100-200 a month off the Electric bill id say. $1,200.00 Per Year Energy Savings Minimum Possibly close to $2,000.00 Electric bill savings per year Savings. 3 year payback on this job for the customer & WayyyLess Headaches and service problems as Long as the condenser Gets Cleaned Regularly.
OcRefrigeration,Hvac & Electrical. That makes sense, 6inch is a thick wall. Thanks for the info. I usualy select evap bigger than compressor. I will keep suction pressure as close as possible to room temp. But in this case this is the way to go. Bigger delta T on the evap will increase the capacity.
Why don't you guys get proper outdoor units? Do they even sell them out in Cali? Those dog houses wouldn't cut in out here in cold snowy eastern Canada, and they have to come with all the winter goodies otherwise it'll crap out.
i live in toronto i dont use Head master valves.. useless i install larger receivers and fan cycle controls.. and Plus most condensing units are remote condensers not condensing units
I know this is two year ago but that camera shaking is from a bad camera the stability control inside the camera is failing its 6 feet ,50 feet if within sight hating on the mangina loves the vids
If we TH-cam compressor tripping breaker we’re looking for help not a 12 minute video with a “cool” theme song and a video about how shaky your phone is when you drive to the call 👎🏼
Rofl ... I Have Not Laughed that Hard in a Long time ! I've Seen Some Cluster F**** in my time But, That Mess Takes The # 1 Spot , Holy Crack heads , Batman. Run Dave, Run !!! Lol. Beautiful install Norcal !!! Thats How u do it ! What a Great idea Not Removing All that Crap and Just Using a Different Location for the New Unit. All that time saved is awsome. And great idea to leave as a sound wall. Also Great tip on the Nitrogen Plug Fallen into the Pipe , That Could Make for a Really Bad Day ! Awesome Video !!! Also Those Unistrut Blocks are Expensive , You Really Out did Your self on that one. They Really Do Make that install Shine Though. That's How u Do it ! to All the New Guys out there. This is How it's Done !!!
Another great video bro, 68 degrees is a very cool day for south Louisiana. I'm about to purchase a MR45 soon, because of how it works for you. Again great video!!

Another Clean Installation ... really enjoyed the start 02:31 "Run Dave just Run" .
NIce job Dave way to Kick A##. Great Idea to just move the new condenser unit further away from the neighbors...
Great looking job, Dave. You’re an inspiration!
4* wind chill in Dover, DE yesterday. Job was in the middle of a giant strip on the highway with football fields on one side & Dover Speedway on the other. With many layers on I was still freezing haha keep up the good work Davo!

Nice to see someone taking pride in what they do ;-)

Nice job Dave, even put a trap in the suction line, compressor saver keep the oil where it belongs.
So the semi hermetic compressor was piped to that other condenser coil in the
Wood shack.
Looked almost like a ice machine condenser.
Crazy 😜
Fine looking install.
looking a little better than old set up!
Looks like something we'd find down here on top of or behind a store.

Nice job Dave
Liam 14 thanks for watching
Very neat job. I don't understand why you put an inverted p-trap on the suction riser though?
Jim Gill honestly it’s more of how it came out than a real thought 👍
I bet you wouldn't have done that with zoomlock fittings. :)
Neat stuff. only difference is .. i would of taken all that old equipment down and harvest what ever was re-usable i build my units so bases receivers etc i collect how come you didn't opt for keeping the compressor inside.. and condenser on the roof.. . also doesn't cali Believe in remote units? compressors inside condensers on the roof.. but again Dave real cool job!
Great job sir.....👨🔧
Nice job Dave!
tcpHVAC/R thanks tom

Cleaning is always the first. We have 13 machines on property, mix of manufacturers and decades, but my relatively new Ice-O-Matics are the "canaries in the mine shaft" when it comes to water quality or cleaning schedule running behind.... they are always the first to crap out.
Awesome job!
Good job bro that was a mess. They will be better off replacing all that crap

no need on a regular system,
Great job,true pro!
Jonathan flynn thank you
Nice job Dave , in your area do you guys always create a reverse trap where you come thru the roof?
Scott Stoner some do some don’t
Dave, thanks for the response. I can't remember what it 7/8" suction on 23,000 btu? Where do you find this info besides google. Thanks
I would have kicked that old unit off the roof, nice install
Whats going on with 404a there matey? Is it costing there recently? Tidy job btw.
GSI Jimbo R404a is still cheap in the USA 130$ for 24Lbs on existing equipment or change outs still the go to here. When OEM change we will run what they use. Example reach ins are R290 on most new ones now.
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C its mad mate, prices over here are through the roof for 404a.
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C rough figures but 90 quid for about 10kilos is awesome. I've seen some crazy prices here. All i use is 404 or 134. Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C awesome! I bought one and used it for the first time and it just worked out awesome for me
nice job
Old skool. Never seen a wooden walk in box.
Yep, They are Around ! Got one in My Town. They usually have Fibreglass insulation inthe Walls like a Houses walls.
OcRefrigeration,Hvac & Electrical. How is the insulation on that? I hope dave took this in account when making a cooling load calculation.

what the hell are these ''mechanics" doing on these roofs
Bloody hell thats terrible, I’m surprised it ever worked a lot of cowboys out there lucky they called you.
Could you please do something about the sound? No high frequencies present. You talk like having a clothes peg on your nose :)
He's Not a chick man , thats how he sounds in reallife.
Sideshow bob lol
Total Tech 😂😂😂😂😂
😮😮😮😮😮
the breaker isn't the only thing tripping, cut off the iPhones LSD :))
throttle bottle I put the magnet back on when I got to the roof. 👍
