I grew up in Oakland from 1952 till 1970. The picture of the first drum and bugle corp, my dad is standing on the left( part of the color guard)along with my uncle ( also color guard ). Great times. I remember memorial day parades, the whole town lined main st.

I haven't lived there since the mid-1970's. All the changes! Wow! At least the Oakland Public Library is still there at the *old* Ponds Church building. Of course, they may no longer use actual books!😆

1960's 1970's when I was a child, my father would drive the family from Greenpoint Brooklyn to Pleasureland Park, we were there on a saturday & their were bands playing on stage & had hits on the radio performing.

Does anyone out there that has any memories of the Pavillon that was by Dodie Road? I found a sign where it once stood. stating that Rock n Roll bands used to play there...

Much of the old stuff disappeared when 287 came through... The town became more expensive to live in by then, too! ---- Cool! The Old Dome 3:18 by the Old Chapel 3:37... Until they were ripped down sometime in the late 90s/early 00s, both the Chapel and the Dome were the last vestiges of the old Edward Day Page Estate...All gone now!

Amelia...It's more than crazy. It's called a lack of foresight by Oakland's leadership, including present leadership, of biblical proportions. It's gotta stop.
