  • Hey everyone! This is my first tutorial upload, its how to make your own resin Dolls eyes! I hope you enjoy!
    Please help me get my channel up and running by being my first lot of subscribers and hit the like button too! I am planning MANY more tutorials of all kinds of crafts and DIY's
    Looking forward to building this channel with you all. Thank you for your support.
    List of materials I used:
    2 part Epoxy resin, I get it sent from over east, a place called the BIG RED SHED, I know its just an epoxy polyester mix, not the actual brand.
    Plastic Measuring cups
    Plastic shot cup, to mix both parts of resin
    Plastic spoon handle
    White acrylic paint in the eyeball resin
    Acrylic paint for the iris
    Polymer clay for the pupils
    Silicone Mould
    Jo Sonja's Matte varnish
    Metallic powders, just old eye shadows
    Sewing needle
    Paint brush - Mont Marte Gallery series - size 3
    I have never made these before, this was my first go at trying this out and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I still don't know why I chose to do dolls eyes, as I don't even make dolls, never have, nor do I know anyone who does. haha. I'll try anything, I guess.
    I am also on other types of social media, I post updates there weekly. If you would like to follow me and maybe see what my next tutorials will be, feel free to follow me on them

      as long as you use a low enough temp and a longer cook time, it should be fine. I always recommend a test piece, just to be sure. as everyone's products vary.

    Can these be used in polymer clay models and withstand the oven curing temperature?

    • @DaniMareeArtistry
      @DaniMareeArtistry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That all depends on the resin you use to make the eyes. Some are fine with baking into clay, and others melt, burn, bubble or go very yellow.

  • @duskyviolets2560
    @duskyviolets2560 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, do you have to have a blowtorch to dry the resin when putting the clear resin in the irises? And can you make the white eyeballs out of polymer clay only? Or does it have to be the white paint mixed with resin?

    • @DaniMareeArtistry
      @DaniMareeArtistry  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the flame is to pop any bubbles that come to the surface, the drying time for the resin is the same even if i did not use it. Yes, you can very much use polymer clay for the whites. Not just resin. Hope that helps :)

      @@DaniMareeArtistry thank you, it does..how do you dry the resin? Do you have to have a UV light? Or can it dry by itself or being left out?

    Could you bake the finished eyes into polymer clay?

    • @DaniMareeArtistry
      @DaniMareeArtistry  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, as long as the resin you use is safe to bake. The one i use is. I have had no issues. as long as i keep an eye on my temps. if it gets a tad too warm, i have had the resin yellow slightly. but that is because i didnt keep an eye on my thermometer

    Hi there! Thanks for sharing. But tell me please, how I could avoid that air bubbles on the eyes. I have been doing lots of time, but there's bubbles on... (

    • @DaniMareeArtistry
      @DaniMareeArtistry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always mix my resin and then leave it for 5 to 10 minutes, it let's the bubbles rise to the top. Then I use a lighter and run it over the top of the resin before I pour it. Once I have poured the eyes and let them sit for another 10 minutes, I will go back over with the lighter one more time. Also, if your room is cold, your resin may be too thick. Try sitting your resin in a warm (not too hot) water bath, to warm the resin up inside the bottle (do not let the cap of the bottle go under the water) before you mix the catalyst in. This will make your resin thinner to mix, letting the bubbles rise to the top alot faster, and also less bubbles are made during mixing. Again, still pop the bubbles with a lighter or heat gun, even an isopropyl alcohol spray. I hope this helps.

    are you just using white acrylic paint when you pigment the resin?

    • @DaniMareeArtistry
      @DaniMareeArtistry  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ali Dillard Yes :) its worked find for me. although its a good brand, Jo Sonja's. other brands have looked like particles when setting. This paint does not. and it doesn't set too heavy or too transparent. its been a good balance over most things I've tried :)

      you can make the white section from polymer clay, but make the iris more shallow. then try using a glaze in layers? I have not tried to do this any other way. Possibly layering clear nail varnish could work also?

    • @bobblefish
      @bobblefish 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nail polish should not be used with polymer clay as it reacts with the plastic and makes it goopy

    • @DaniMareeArtistry
      @DaniMareeArtistry  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have listed that I use one :) it is 8th on the list. I do make the eyes by hand, and you can very well just paint the centre of the clay and dome with resin that way, if you do not have a mould and dont want to use a resin base. I know many people use UV resin, and that is quite expensive, so the suggested option would be more economical in terms of price when using the method this way :)
      Hope that helps.
      Thank you for the comment. much appreciated.
