  • Okay Sega fans!
Sega has a rich history of arcade games going back to the 70s.
In this video, I've captured 100 Sega arcade games from 1980 to 1988. There are many obscure ones (at least that I had never heard of), but we see the start of Sega's golden age here, with classics like Space Harrier and Outrun appearing.
    Stay turned for Part 2!

Thoroughly enjoyed this; thank you for compiling and sharing it. I find it remarkable how inconsistent in ambition the games were, even after Sega showed they could do some state-of-the-art stuff.

I definetly just added a bunch of games to my let's play lists. Thanks for making this, i had no clue alot of these games existed. That penguin game was my favorite. Nice video.

sega's 80's arcade output is like: SMS-looking game, NES-looking game, SMS game, 32X game, SMS game, NES game, SMS game, SMS game, Saturn game

The graphical mastery they achieved with some of these games is beyond my comprehension. I mean, in 85 we had Doki Doki Penguin Land which was a very typical game you would expect for the time and then they pull out Hang On right in your face. It's a shame some people won't understand the impact of seeing something like Virtua Fighter for the first time. Long live Sega.

It actually blows me away that they had a game for the flickies YEARS PRIOR to the Sonic franchise.

Good vid. I only knew of 25 of these and didn't know some of those were Arcade games also. You otta do one of these for the Data East games. They had some good ones in Arcade.

8:39, ace attacker 1988 music sounds like one of the levels in the very first Sonic the hedgehog game for the sega genesis.

I only recognize some because of Yakuza. So much respect bro. How is it that the way they made the Arcade games are better than a lot of Emulators tho?

Ironically, the Master System would have the ability to draw 3D graphics like this, but only on a 4 megabit cart, and those cost around $70 to make back in 1987. That's why most SMS games were just one or two megabits.

nice mash up. but why are they showing the genesis/megadrive ports of games in some of the clips and not the arcade ones?

*All* of these are taken from the arcade versions. Not a console port in the bunch.
