Hey i still run the stock electronics but have the 3.8 muddslingers. I have twisted 3 out of 4 driveshafts. It is just too much torque. I have hot racing driveshafts now and don't have an issue
@@Gmcworrior1 gotcha I’m glad you let me know that..didn’t realize the stock driveshafts can’t hold up to the 40 series? Yeah you can send me pics…you should find my email in the “About” Section of my channel..I can’t remember it off the top of my head lol
Awesome rig buddy! 👍✌️ I run a hobbywing xr8pro esc and a tenshock 4276 sensored motor in my summit. With Revo tru track rear end no more rear links. Leading edge machined internal transmission dog carrier. Reefs triple 5 servo on a castle bec with the holmes rx bypass so my steering servo is running on 8v but everything else is still on 5.5v stock. Rc4wd 40 series mud slingers and hot racing drive shafts and center drive shafts. Hot racing steering bellcrank and servo saver. Basically Everything that can be upgraded is. I love the sensored i can crawl so slow or standing backflip such a diverse truck. Also it's for sale if anyone is looking for a fully built summit in mint condition 👍👍
This is what happens to me. I have the MMX. I have the LEM diffs gears and cups. Idk why but I always tear the ring gear apart. I bet that’s what happened to you too.
@@RCKnockout it’s just the brushless system I have in mine. If you can find LEM combo kit that’s the way I would go. Check out RC Grid channel. He’s done a brushless summit too.
@@RCKnockout I would even change the dog carrier in the transmission. There’s slop in the transmission and the LEM dog carrier makes a lot of difference when going from low to high or high to low gear. I have almost the same summit as RC Grid. A lot of the same mods.
You should just get longer grub screws, that is what I did, I forget the ones I got, I'm thinking they were something from the Schumacher brand, came in sets of four. They worked out better, because I could keep the exo-cage as it came, and the new grub screws went further into the body posts, so they don't pull out as easily as the proline ones.
@@RCKnockout Sure, as for your diff issues, don't know if this will help, but it seems that a lot of the breaks regarding the diffs, especially in the rear, seem to be due to bearings failing (or shifting in the stock plastic housings), especially with the additional rpm of brushless motors. You might not have to do both front and rear, but you probably should consider hot racing's diff housing for the rear, part #SUM11LH (they hold the bearings in place better, and keep them from shifting). Also, if you're more likely to stay with the stock diff oil weight, or near it, the plastic cups should be fine, otherwise if you want to use thicker oil, you may want to consider going to aluminum here as well, because the thicker oil would generate more heat, and the plastic cups could warp and leak oil, with the brushless setup.
@@drog343 thanks for the recommendations…those make a lot of sense..I knew the diff cup can warp…didn’t realize the bearings shifting was an issue..heat and plastic don’t really get along lol
Please show us the wrenching video, when you are fixing it. Would love to know how to fix and what upgrade you are going to put in. I've got surpass hobby 4076 2050kv and Hobbywing max 10 on it. I'm getting the same speed with 4s on 17/68. So far haven't got any issue with gear or diff still holding strong. The only issue that I have is with bearings on wheel axles, it make the wheels wobble. I've got it since 2012 , still going strong 👍
I will be coming out with a repair video..I actually already filmed it…most of my videos are filmed in advance and are live on TH-cam 2-3 weeks later…occasionally I film a video and get it uploaded immediately..most videos are delayed for a couple weeks since I have a stockpile of content to edit
Love my sons summit but ill bet it has more screws then a 1/5th scale. I hate the amount of time to revuild but besides the small diffs its a good build.
I know exactly what you’re talking about!….the disassembly required to get into the diffs is outrageous…it takes a long time when working on the Summit
