I love SWA. Back in the early '90's, my friends and I would show up on some radom Friday evening hopeful to get a $19 ticket from Phoenix to Las Vegas (standby). As I recall, they gave out plastic colored boarding passes which deteremined when you boarded and seat selection. We did out best to jump in the first row. As I recall, they faced backwards which made taking off a lot of fun!

Always so nostalgic seeing that desert style pattern on the walls of the terminal at Sky Harbor. Dad was an AWA pilot for many years, so tons of fond memories from Sky Harbor. Have a good one Ern!

Do you know James Hollingsworth, Ern? I am AMAZING friends with one of his nieces!!! Last time I checked, James (I call him "Uncle James") is a Captain for WN. I went to Middle School with his niece, Tori. I was there for both grades (7th & 8th), and Tori was there for 8th grade. Tori and I were in the same HS graduating class, but different states after she moved back to her state. I'm not sure why she moved in the first place, but it was a blessing because now I have built this HUGE friendship with her!!! It all started when she told me in the locker room for gym that one of her uncles is a Pilot for WN!!! I think James is based out of HOU, but I have to check with Tori on that. Uncle James is SO sweet, just like his niece!!! Tori and I even played SOFTBALL together!!! I was BULLIED growing up for wanting to become a WN pilot (due to personal reasons, I cannot do it 😭); Tori was the friend that I DESPERATELY needed the most!!! I remember one time when another act of bullying happened in the cafeteria during a school day, and Tori noticed me SOBBING, so she sat down with me, tapped my arm because my head was under my arms, and checked to see if I was okay after I looked up at her. That meant SO much to me, and I am FOREVER grateful for that act of kindness!!! I LOVE YOU, TORI!!! I MISS YOU 🥺

Colorado Springs Airport is where I train and I can see y'all over at the terminal all throughout my taxi until I turn left onto A from GA parking. Also see you after takeoff! Super cool to fly with the airlines in my tiny Piper 🥰
I fly this leg pretty regularly, Tampa to Colorado Springs every month. I don't think this was my layover in December. If I remember correctly my layover was in Chicago that month. Every time I have this layover I heavily contemplate just driving to the springs instead of waiting in the airport for hours, just for a 15 minute flight. haha.

I fly you guys from Colorado Springs to Phoenix and back often.... it is a step up from Frontier who use to be who I had to use.
as someone who flies a bugsmasher between Co Springs and Denver pretty often, it was awesome seeing a familiar route and waypoints. Also, if you were the pilot that had to take the RNAV 35R because there was a "slow guy" on the ILS 17L the other day, I apologize.

I flew on Flight simulator 2004 for Southwest MAX 8 DEN-COS and back DEN. it was crazy busy too quick hop flight. LOL It was fun!
I love your videos! Could you do one answering basic questions for the traveler? We had a landing that was aborted due to wind and I wondered what goes into that decision? I love to fly but only do it as a traveler...also fun cities to visit with SWA- we fly them all the time and sometimes look for a fun weekend getaway-

I fly SWA every week almost and have caught myself regularly looking into the cockpit to see if Big Ern is piloting.
Be careful how far you look in. Lots of FAs will lose their marbles if you so much as take a momentous gesture that direction and you could end up in handcuffs.
I guessed a block time of 25 to Colorado Springs with a 15 minute flight. Too bad it wasn't VFR, lol!!... Love that way point of WAZUP.. thats classic.

Super quick from Denver to the Springs, however, on that hop I had one of the most turbulent rides I have ever experienced. No joke! Moderate +. Those mountain waves of air are wicked.

Grew up in Buffalo & go back there often...no clue what a smooth landing is..COS, BUF, DEN all bumpy. At least never afraid 🙂..dad had a Cessna growing up. Those are fun..he'd have a Cirrus now - diff times.

I haven't flown between DEN & COS but I live in Durango and regional jet flights only take a half hour in the air to Denver. I just booked a United flight to Europe and it looks like UAL is introducing mainline service to DRO because my itinerary shows an A319 being flown on my last leg home!

Thanks for the upload Captain! How is pilot pay structured at SWA for a day like this? It seems like with SWA you would get to do a ton of “flying” because the routes seem fairly short (not as much cruise autopilot time) vs other airlines with long haul flights but does that mean you’re somewhat capped as far as earnings? The idea of getting to do so much flying on shorter routes really appeals to me
Looks like southwest needs some operational help. Maybe it’s my time to send in an application 😌

It might be one of the shortest, but it's usually moderate-strong turbulence most of the time.

My home airport is the springs!
Denver to Colorado Springs might be short but the turbulence is often stronger than most routes.
I hope grant is a lot more fun off camera then on camera.. geesh. The cockpit can be a lil stuffy when that happens.
How much fuel was used from DEN to COS? Just curious. I live down here in the Springs.

Enjoyable videos but a number of other videos film the entire flight from the pilots checking in until they land. Is there a reason that SWA doesn’t allow that?

I been a fan of your TH-cam Channel. I been a fan of Southwest Airlines since 2005. I have been on a bunch of the Boeing 737-700's and eventually I will hop aboard the Boeing 737-800 on Southwest. I do have a question for you but not sure if you are able to respond but will give it a try. How long have you worked for Southwest Airlines as First Officer and Captain for how many Years? Also, What brings you to be a Pilot for Southwest Airlines? This is a great question. Will keep watching whenever you upload.

I know I’m just a little kid 2 u pilots but why aren’t more sw pilots on here cuz my dad flew for sw and I will 2 and the whole wide world needs 2 know about sw. My dad says that u really promote the culture at sw and that Herb is looking down on u from heaven with a super big smile on his face.
U are my connection to sw now that my dad is farming full time and taking care of my mom cuz she has als. So keep going ok?
