Interesting. I feel like I liked the narrator more in the second half. Library of America's Russ volume is on my list maybe for 2025, so I'll let you know when the story is more fresh in my mind.
Excellent video as always. I felt the same about The Female Man - DNFed it, then went back to it - but found her writing style irritating and pretentious.

I liked the dry, snarky commentary and the somewhat combative conversation from the protagonist. It fit the environment/situation well. But the second half... 🙄 'Irritating and pretentious' sums it up pretty well! I'll give The Female Man a go at some point, but won't be wholly surprised if I don't make it all the way through!
