I use both Ripstick (106) and the Kore (99) with Atomic Shift and Marker Kingpin binding for FT/Alpine touring/Randonee, and they are a perfect combinations of lightness and how they cope with almost all conditions. Yea, they are a bit heavier than a regular pair of alpine touring skis, but the feeling downhill is way better. 👌😁
Another awesome review guys! I am 185cm, 80kg, a strong skier and love carving on the anything on and off piste. I was originally sold on the Head Kore 99, but I´ve been advised on these Black Edition Ripsticks because of the increased stiffness. Would you reccomend these over the Kores and which length would you reccomend for me, the 182 or 189s? Thanks a lot!
The Kore is quite a bit stiffer than the Ripstick Black Edition, especially in the shovel. The Elan is easier to ski and has a bit more access to the off-piste, but the Kore is a more competent carver when it comes to groomers. I'd say the 189 is going to be too long with the Elan.
Between Head Kore 93 and ripstick 96 black which ski performs better on east coast hard pack/ice in a carved turn? Which would you consider to be more versatile? If I go with the Kore it will be the 184 so waist width will be closer. I’m a big guy like Bob, Thanks!
I (Bob) found a lot more confidence on groomers here in VT on the Kore. The Ripstick is more flexible for sure, and I had a harder time finding that same confidence in the shovel. In my experience, the Kore is a much more accomplished carver.

Great review. I just ordered a pair of the black edition 96 in 182. I’m 183 cm and 185 lbs… Should I have gone a size down from 182?
I don't think so. The skis are pretty light and mobile so you can go just about head high here.

Does the playfulness/quickness/maneuverability of this ski come primarily from its light weight or is it also the shape, rocker, etc? Thanks!
The light weight I think is the biggest factor, but the flexible shovel has a lot to do with the maneuverability.
