  • In this episode you'll see me installing vinyl plank flooring. Prior to dong this I took my belt sander to prepare the subfloor. When installing subflooring there is often some time before the building is dried-in so subfloors tend to swell at joints. Also drywall finishing makes quite a mess. The easiest way I've found to do a good job of preparing is with a belt sander, using a very coarse belt. Because of dust, I didn't try recording that part of the work.
This channel is dedicated to educating and entertaining anyone interested in the art/science of historic restoration, which will include construction techniques and goals, related off-site projects, a little homesteading and off-grid living, history and maybe even a little farming. Since I work alone, and depend on no one, this is the ultimate DIY channel! On this property stands a Dogtrot style log cabin built in 1850, with an addition constructed in the 1970's. Although at one point, this was likely quite a nice and well cared for home, but years of neglect has caused a lot of deterioration. My intent is to have you learn some construction and restoration basics, as you watch. None of my videos are intended to teach the use of safety techniques or use of personal protective equipment. That responsibility is yours and those around you. #constructionlife

Beautiful floor, and I love the stove. Boy, that place is coming together quite nicely.

Gosh I'm just now seeing old comments. I got it from Home Depot, Part of their Lifeproof series. I remember Hickory in the name, but didn't see it on their website.
