I’ve been looking at a few different TH-cam videos, using glue to baste quilts and I think yours is the best, because I like the idea of the line of glue along the top of the backing and the front of the quilt to keep it all in place with the batting, and I really love the idea of the pool noodles. Very clever. Thank you, I will definitely be doing this. I’m sick of puckers with spray Basting no matter what method I try, and pinning gets really old.
I've been using school glue for a while. If you didn't want to iron just let it sit 30 minutes and it will be dry. Also a good way to stick binding down before stitching. I do iron that to cure it.
Thank you for making this video! I've had a pieced quilt top finished for years but the thought of getting down on the floor was overwhelming and not something I can do any longer. Pool noodles to the rescue! I'll get some school glue while I'm at it. I can't wait to try this!

Hi from New Zealand! I had used glue before but I diluted it and then I painted it in. It took days to dry! I really like this method as it is so much easier and faster. Im going to get some oool noodles today. Thank you for this video. 😊
I have been using pipe insulation. I got mine at Home Depot for two or three dollars each. They are 6 feet in length. They work great. I started out using pool noodles but they weren’t long enough for the three yard quilts.
Great idea and video! My cat has asthma so spraying is not an option no matter what it is, also must use unscented products. School glue is brilliant! You answered all my concerns too, I wash my quilts 'cause I like them to pucker up a little like the old quilts did so this sounds perfect! Thank you!

I don’t lay anything under. I don’t use globs of glue, so it hasn’t been a problem for me. I also have tried to hook 2 Pool noodles together and it was more trouble than it’s worth. I just use one and it’s fine.

This is wonderful. I’ve n ver tried glue basting and have a question. Does the glue change the final texture as in making the quilt feel stiffer in the areas where it is applied and heat set? Thank you for sharing ❤
It can make the area with glue stiff if you use a lot. I only would use this method if washing afterwards. School glue is water soluble so it washes away and the stiffness is gone.
Thank you for doing this video. I used a diluted glue mixture to baste one quilt and I think it might have been a little too wet (it still turned out fine), but I’m going to try just the glue only. Do you find the glue hardens up too much when FMQ? I just don’t want to break a needle. Thanks.

Yes definitely try it! Once I started doing it this way, I never looked back!

It is a great method, I do on my placemats all the time. I still have alot of spray quilt glue so when I'm done, I'll do the glue method!

When you heat set with the iron, is it drying the glue?
Yes it does.
Does the glue wash out or does it interfere with the sewing needle? Thanks for videos.
It doesn’t interfere unless you glob it on there. Then it can cause a little hard spot. And as long as you use school glue, it will wash out easily.

No it’s never gotten hard enough to break a needle. But I put very thin strips of it. I never put globs in one spot.
