This is awesome! I started walking barefoot almost at all times unless I leave the house due to wanting to strengthen my feet and regain the lost muscle and use out of them from the decades of shoe wearing. I have flat feet naturally and have had to learn to use shoes over the years that have an arc that can be painful. Since I started being barefoot I don’t have discomfort and the plant of my feet feel stronger. I want to be out in the world barefoot but the fear of glass or any other dangerous material out in the street on my bare feet scared me. Glad you’re covering this because it is important and as a plant based vegan person myself, I want to make sure I find something that will be beneficial to me and supports what I believe in too. ❤️
Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I love this. I didn't think anyone was going to watch this video. I'm with you, being barefoot is awesome until you step on something sharp!
Thanks for sharing - I had a similar experience with flat feet, barefoot shoes really helped me, but it took a while to rebuild the right muscles in my legs/feet! Oh and it doesn't have to be expensive- Sport Pursuit have a sale on at the mo with 50% off the Vivobarefoot range, I just bought 2 pairs, so thought i'd share 😁- www.sportpursuit.com/join/OUTDOORSALE
This advice is great even if you’re not a runner. I’m a 67 year old grandmother with a history of bunions and a neuroma in my left foot. I’ve spent so much money on inserts and expensive shoes, but was still experiencing a lot of foot pain. But I’ve gotten so much relief from wearing my barefoot shoes.
I’ve spent so much money on sneakers and boots over the years. I’ve slowly transitioned to barefoot shoes (xero prio’s) and they are now the only shoes I wear on a daily basis. Now I am in the process of selling/getting rid of many of my sneakers/boots and find more barefoot shoes to be able to switch up the style here and there. Great video, solid information! Thanks man.
I'm happy watching any videos outside of nutrition that you put out Derek. I've followed you for years now and it's good to see the channel spiced up. You make it, I'll watch it.
I totally remember that video with the sound!! I was the very first video of yours that I watched and I was totally hooked! Seriously people, look it up! (Hint no sit-ups needed)
Yes Derek, great to see you are on the barefoot train! Have you tried many shoes other than Vivobarefoot? They were the first brand I tried but I actually found other brands way more comfortable for my feet especially Xero, feelgrounds and based.
Sweet! I have tried the Merrel Trail Glove (before they got less barefoot-ey) and tried on some Vibrams. I didn't like how it felt like there was stuff between my toes. I would like to try some more. I want to get a pair of Lem's boots for the winter. They look awesome. I will check out the other brands. Thanks man. Just watched your latest content on insta.
@@Simnettnutrition I have yet to be brave enough to try out vibrams.😅 I recently got feelgrounds all winter boots and they are really great, ive also heard great things about Lems.
personally i walk/hike as much as i can completely barefoot. no it doesn't hurt and no i don't step on things often, my callus has built up and i watch the ground before me. i own a pare of barefoot "toe shoes" that i wear most often. I've always had an aversion to sneakers and socks because i have sensory issues, but my love for barefootedness goes deeper. sensory feedback from our environment, the ground we walk on, i think is so important and useful for our minds and body. being able to feel the ground beneath me helps reduce my anxiety and ground greatly me despite some dissociative mental health struggles. i hear its more energetically efficient to run 'barefoot' than in a typical sports shoe and that once you adjust, injury is less common. i think years of evolution have perfected our feet to be able to handle a lot. a big inspiration of mine for being barefoot more often, even in public, is @Rob Greenfield. he has a few videos on the topic!!
I adore barefoot shoes. Bought my first pair three years ago and have almost fully switched all my shoes to barefoot shoes (except fancy high heeled shoes for fancy occasions). My fav brand ever is Wildling Shoes. I do have some Vivobarefoot shoes for sporty stuff like a hiking boot and a running shoe with some plugs for wet muddy trails. But 99% of the time I wear Wildlings. They're so soft, so flexible, so thin, so durable, so comfy. I love them so much!
12 years ago I went to a dance shoe when I taught zumba classes and this was a minimal shoe and I went straight into one after teaching fitness classes for years with a supportive shoe……of course I ended up with plantar fasciitis…..lots of researching, pain and exercises later to heal my feet I went to vivobarefoot shoes and haven’t looked back…..I now do Zumba in them and run in them as well….love them and will never go back to supportive shoe….it’s just not natural….and I too sprained my ankle trail hiking in a full on supportive shoe. Thanks for your content…love it 😊
I've heard about the benefits of VivoBarefoot shoes from Vegains and Happy Pear, but I didn't get fully convinced to actually buy them. But after hearing this in-depth presentation from you, I'm buying it ASAP!
I remember the cougar growl at the cliff 😂 Barefoot shoes are awesome! I use the New Balance Minimus T10v1. They have a very slight 4mm drop, which I actually really like.
I love barefoot shoes.. I have a pair of xero's and Lems primal zen. For anyone looking for a barefoot shoe that is kinda of a transition shoe in-between a full on barefoot shoe, I definitely recommend the lems. They have the wide toe box and are zero drop but just a slightly thicker outsole and minimal padding insole.
Nice! Great suggestion. I've been looking at the Lem's Boulder Boots for the winter. I think I will probably get them. Do you watch Rose Anvil on here? He reviews and cuts shoe's apart. He really loves the Lem's.
I wanted to get the Primal Zen but they only offered two colors, black and white IIRC. Those are the two worst colors, just like with cars. So frustrating, so I went with the Primal 2's instead. They're super comfortable.
Love these shoes. Wore them first time 10 years ago and haven’t stopped. They’re the only shoes I wear. I’m a massage therapist and I never felt comfortable wearing more conventional shoes. I feel much more grounded for myself and my clients
I’ve been in barefoot for 1 1/2 years, started in Xeros, now have vivo, Xero, Wildlings, and sandals from Deliberate Life Designs handmade in Vermont. After one year I tried to put on a pair of Tom’s, and it was like stuffing my foot into a torture device. I can never go back to regular shoes again. Took me several months to transition and since I didn’t take my time and scale my running distance, I also experienced a bit of calf pain. There are several great barefoot info sources out there for folks to learn about it, but the best for learning about the different types and brands is Anya’s Reviews. She also has a ton of great info on exercises and tradition tips. Thanks for the great content!!
I love barefoot shoes!!! Makes me happy to see that you like them too. I work in a shoe that specializes in barefoot shoes and I find a lot of joy from seeing how many people fall in love with these shoes. And I remember that old video with the scary sound!!!
I’ve suffered from plantar fasciitis in both my feet for over 2 years and I’ve been thinking about trying these types of shoes for a while as nothing else has helped. This is a great video and it makes so much sense
That's awesome. I was reading an article from the company who makes my shoes on that. Here it is if you want to check it out. I have seen lots of warnings too. Just be very mindful of that heel strike when you transition. Maybe even a shoe with more padding but still zero drop and a wide toe box. Someone mentioned Xero's and Lem's Primal Zen. Hope it helps. Report back if you remember to!
I was able to greatly reduce my plantar fasciities pain by stretching especially my legs and calves everyday and strengthening the glute muscles. Also trying to rest the feet as best you can because the plantar tendon is inflammed. Use icepacks on bottom of feet to reduce swelling. Ibuprofen also helps but I just stuck to the ice. It took about 2.5 to 3 months but my foot pain has been reduced by about 90%.
Plantar had me struggling for a couple years too, it just went away somehow. Can't remember what I did, only realised to other day that it was gone even... some things you only notice when it hurts! I have been predominantly wearing a minimalist style shoe for a year now.... Maybe this had something to do with it. Give it a go 🌈
SARAH? ARE YOU OVER WEIGHT? SOUNDS LIKE YOU MUST BE! AND THAT WOULD BE THE CAUSE OF YOUR FOOT PROBLEMS! THE UNEVEN BALANCE OF WEIGHT GOING RIGHT DOWN TO YOUR FEET TO CARRY ALL THE EXTRA WEIGHT AROUND IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE DAMAGE IN YOUR FEET! AND SHOULD ALSO BE DAMAGING YOUR ANKLES, LEGS, KNESS, BACK, SPINE, AND NECK FROM YOUR BODY FAT PULLING YOUR UPPER BODY FORWARD ALL THE TIME!
@@rockybalboa2526 Sorry, but, that is a very generalised and presumptuous opinion.... I myself battled the same problem for many years. I'm roughly 5'10 and hover under 65kg (thin build and always have been). Weight had nothing to with foot problems. I'm not sure what exactly solved my plantar facitis, but the only thing I know that I did differently at the time it vanished unexpectedly was.... a change in footwear. I made the change not in an attempt to heal my foot, but purely by circumstance in the interest of fashion. 🤷♂️ Not saying it was the footwear change, I just don't know.....but, IT DEFINITELY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY WEIGHT. Your statement I agree with for the most part as a contributing factor. Anyhow.... back to enjoying my banana and Durian smoothie.
I have been wearing zero drop running shoes with a wide toe box for years (Altra) and recently bought two pairs of barefoot shoes on Amazon. I love them! For longer hikes, I add an orthotic insole from my running shoes and has worked awesome thus far. Totally agree with Mr. Simnett. These barefoot shoes rock!
That's awesome! Yes, sometimes a little extra cushioning is needed. I don't do the same miles I used to, so I'm good, but I can totally get that. Thanks for the comment!
I am a huge Altra fan as well; the wide toe box is crucial for me. I tried barefoot shoes, loved the feel, but my knees had issues in them. So true about barefoot shoes preventing a rolled ankle.
These are the shoes I have too. I first got the zero drop Altra Lone Peak 5's, and just got the new Lone Peak 6's this year. I refuse to wear any other shoe.
Bought my first pair of barefoot shoes. Thanks to your video i learned about these. How life changing they have been. There has been a transition but my posture is so much better and i actually feel stronger in my body. I just never knew. Thanks again!
I’ve been in barefoot shoes for over 5 years now. The beginning of this year and had a serious ankle injury and actually broke the tip of my fibula off. Thankfully there wasn’t too much ligament damage though and my rehab was really quick. I almost guarantee it’s because of the years of wearing barefoot shoes building up the strength in my feet and ankles.
@@kingfred3755 not completely because they are very narrow in the toes. So they are better than a “traditional” tennis shoe but still not have good a a barefoot shoe.
My first pair of barefoot shoes were from Saguaro, very reasonably priced. Since then, I have one more pair from Saguaro, one pair from Feelgrounds and two from PedTerra -- all good. No more shoes for me for some time! I can't afford Vivo, unfortunately. I didn't really have to ease into barefoot as my old shoes were close to zero drop, but I love the wide toe box of barefoot shoes. I wiggle my toes and feel the ground beneath my feet. Feeling the ground is so important when you get older (I'm 75), as a lot of seniors get pretty tipsy.
Love this video, I think many people have issues with their feet, specially because the toes get crammed. I feel like those types of people would benefit a lot with this shoes, I am one of them. Thanks for the great content!
I bought some Xero shoes this past summer. They are amazing! I had been suffering with ankle issues for years and even going for a half mile walk was miserable. Got some PT for ankle and these barefoot shoes. I love the closer connection to the earth and the feel of my feet on the ground. Ankle is much better now and my feet feel great!
Awesome video! I started using barefoot shoes about 6 months ago after experiencing a foot injury from running whilst using conventional padded running shoes. It is incredible to think we've been told all our lives that "running is bad for your knees" or "make sure you get the right running shoes" but we've just been missinformed. Similar to the nutrition narrative. I've got a few pairs of vivo barefoot shoes but my absolute favourite are the geo knit racers. I run regularly both outdoors and treadmill and they are so amazingly comfortable I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a barefoot style road running shoe. I did a 15k in them a couple of days ago super comfy and breathable. Also, you were a big inspiration to me when I first started whole food plant based, now almost 4 years and going strong 💪. Your cook book is fantastic, the tofu scramble is one of my staples. Thank you for making awesome content and spreading the message of health and wellness!
Oh, love my vivobarefoot, I don't run much but when I walk or hike they are the best. I'm Swedish so I never use shoes indoors so I don't think it took so long to adapt. I love them I feel more close to my environment.
I wear these for casual running and going to the gym. For longer runs I can recommend Altra’s zero drop shoes. Also I highly recommend the book Born To Run if you want to know more about barefoot shoes.
Hell yeah I been vegan for 3 years and barefoot for almost 1 year. You’re a great inspiration and your videos helped me get started and keep me entertained to this day!
My partner switched to barefoot a year or so ago and I began experimenting myself. I now wear zero drop, anatomical toe box shoes 95% of the time (I still have some regular running shoes in rotation). It’s been a big change in terms of comfort and injury prevention. Plan to get some actual barefoot shoes with little cushioning next spring!
Wow! This was an interesting video. I liked the example of the other sneakers on the treadmill and how your foot hits the ground and how the barefoot shoes allow you to hit the ground evenly. I love the views in your videos! Just breathtaking😍
Thanks so much! I tried to really pack a lot of info in this and I guess it showed. I had so much leftover footage of the views. I could make a whole other video with just the B-roll. Lol.
Thanks for making this video, good summary & explanations. As always in the best ever setting; nature:) Love the greatness of nature there in Canada; here in the Netherlands even a large forest feels relatively small😅 I've got the exact same Vivo shoes-ladies version. I got into /an even more minimal white Vivo/ barefootshoes slowly at home as everyone advised, still trying to run faster in the graphite ones.
Great video! I’ve been wearing Lem’s Primal 2 shoes for several years now, and they are the best shoes I’ve ever worn. When I was working retail, on my feet all day (on a thin carpet, to be fair), my feet never hurt in these shoes. Lem’s also has some shoes with more cushion, like the Primal Pursuit, and my wife wears those at her job, on her feet on concrete, and they work great.
I had the idea of buying my next casual pair of shoes as barefoot ones, then doing my work shoes, then running/hiking last so that my feet can adjust slowly
I purchased a pair of "barefoot" shoes at Xero shoes, online. The fit was perfect. I was surprised by that. I used to wear Birkenstock closed toe shoes (I'm not much into sandals), and they were close to barefoot and had a wide toe box. In acquiring my Xero shoes, I was looking for something similar, since the Birks are no longer available. I am not a runner but I do walk a lot ( 80K steps last week). I would have to agree completely about the "getting used to them". I felt like I was walking uphill upon first wearing them, and it slowed me down a lot. You have to re-stretch your achilles. I bought them for all the reasons you listed in your video here, and I can now wear them all day with comfort. Cheers!
I've been wearing barefoot shoes for a couple years now. Definitely one of the best things I've done! Typical padded shoes just feel so awkward now and claustrophobic for my feet. Barefoot shoes for the win!
Thanks for all the great info on barefoot shoes! When i'm out running with my normal runners I always get shin splints. I can't wait to get myself a pair of barefoot shoes maybe this will help with the shin splints! Also thanks for talking with me yesterday at the skatepark. I've been watching your videos for a few years now and to see you at skatepark yesterday made my day!!
I am currently working on going barefoot full time. I've found altra to be a nice middle ground on the journey. They have 0 drop with a wide toe box while also having some support on the sole.
I've been wearing Vivo shoes for the past 15 years exclusively, love them. Wish they were less expensive but I'll never buy another shoe they're so comfortable.
Little Mountain!?! Gorgeous!!! Need to go up there more but that drop is so scary😬 I have barefoot shoes and I really like them. Few things I’ve noticed. I always thought I wasn’t a runner as I have a connective tissues disorder. I’m not held together very tightly and don’t have much cushion between my joints. However, I tried running in my barefoot shoes and the mid strike made all the difference!!!! Because of not having the jarring up my leg it was way more comfortable. Also, I found that it worked out a whole new set of leg muscles that I never felt before. If you run like this you’ll have the best toned legs😉
i have 4 pairs of zero drop lems- the running shoes, the chukkas, the mid cut boot and the regular boot. the boots are tight and the chukkas are snug but the running shoes are the most comfortable of all. feel awesome walking in them.
I will have to try these!! Thanks for the review of them. I have worn Vibram Toes for about 8 years now and I absolutely love them. Excited to try other barefoot shoes. Loved your video on this brand...so helpful!
Great video Derek! Also for the same beneficial reasons, practices that are done barefoot (yoga, martial arts, etc) are also great as they build that barefoot strength!
Oh gosh! It's my birthday today and I got some Vivos from the London Vivo store just like yours! (probably my fourth pair over the last few years). Absolutely LOVE barefoot trainers. Recently did the Yorkshire Three Peaks (24miles) in barefoot trainers and my feet were so healthy afterwards. Always great videos! Take care.
the cougar noise!! from the ab video! I already thought of it at the beginning of the video but since you had to mention it... anyway, your conclusion about how we should go for a less processed, more natural (dare I say more holistic?) approach to things kicked ass!! keep up with that kind of comment! :) much love!
To take a bit of the price off: I really want to recommend Vivo's second hand online store Revivo. I got my last two pairs from there and the quality is just great, I could barely tell that the shoes had been worn and I didn't even choose the best available condition. The shoes are still expensive, but it's a great option if you already plan on getting Vivos and it is also lighter on the planet. Also great for vegans who feel ok with wearing second hand leather items. Thanks for another great video!
Thank you Derek, I cant believe that you have released this video, I literally just thought about getting some barefoot shoes! This was really helpful!
great video! I recently also got my first bare of barefoot shoes together with some toe spreaders. Within a month I already notice a big difference. I opted for xero shoes because of the price mainly. So if you have a smaller budget those are a great option.
So wonderful that you made this video! I always loved going barefoot when i was young. I have been getting back into it as much as possible. It is incredible how your knees and hips react to what you have or don't have on your feet! Always love your content and healthy living inspiration!! ❤
I just started wearing mine 2 weeks ago. Nice to see this video. I just jumped right into mine because I am always barefoot. And it has been great! I have xero shoes
This was a really interesting video. I may have to get some for Christmas, along with the ebook! I’m so excited for it to come out. Great video as always, Canada is so beautiful. Have a great day Derek!
I LOVE THEM TOO!!! I just buy the cheaper ones, usually around $30 to $40, and I swear they changed my summer! SO comfortable and easy to pack and ...GOSH! love em
I started wearing barefoot shoes in 2019/2020 and now it's all I wear. I have one pare of VIvobarefoot and I have several knock off ones off Amazon, particularly the Whitin brand which I really like. I wore Earth Runners all summer.
I've been use xero shoes, they are a bit cheaper but, I've been using them for about 2 years and I love them for every thing. I think it's awesome that you are using them, it will help me to get more people to use them
You know it! They are actually the best driving shoes and look very similar to actual race shoes. Just wider. The round heel is perfect and the wide toe box is amazing for heel and toe-ing. I love that you know this too! Haha.
I’ve seen you wearing the Vivobarefoot shoes for a while and was wondering when you were going for do a video on them. Love barefoot shoes and love your channel. Keep up the great work
This is great! I started on the barefoot bandwagon about a month ago, and I love it. I can only wear my barefoot shoes now, all the rest are super tight and the shape of the sole bothers me if it's not flat anymore.
I have two pairs of Altra running shoes. Not exactly barefoot but they're flat and roomy in front. I also jog completely barefoot inside my home, great for feet health.
Man barefoot shoes got me to enjoy walking. Regular shoes never quite felt comfortable to me, and when I tried my first very flexible shoes that was a revelation. From there I moved on to my now favorite super minimalist barefoot shoes. I've clocked about 700k on them, mostly trail running and hiking. They're definitely on their last leg, but I feel like since I'm walking so naturally they lasted me so much longer than regular shoes despite being so much thinner. Anyway, I would never go back. Great content!
Very cool testimony. I agree. I think because you aren't dragging your foot. I would always wear out the outside heel of my shoes but I don't get that same wear spot with barefoot shoes. Interesting.
Love love love my Vivo's I have a couple pairs don't remember the names the trail boots and then trail shoes. Wear the boots to work in standing all day they are so great. Also love them on the trail so much more stability. For running I like Altra or Sketches makes a low drop. You do need to ease into wearing barefoot shoes but once you do they are great!
Ever since my plantar fasciitis I definitely need ones with like gel insert or memory foam at least, otherwise it hurts me right away, so it's definitely not something for me. To be wide in front is good for any shoes, but many now are quite slim indeed..
I love barefoot shoes. I have a sandal from vivobarefoot and I also have a few pairs from xero shoes. I love them. My feet, knees and ankles all feel so much better.
@@Simnettnutrition exactly. I never would have thought there was even a shoe like that. You’re right once you wear them it’s hard to wear any other shoe…thank you for your channel and the variety of health information.
I love my black canvas Lems Boulder Boots, but I mostly wear ASICS Gel-Venture extra-wide trail runners. They have no support, but have a drop. Normal width Gel Ventures are too narrow in the toe box. Also, I backpacked the Pacific Crest Trail through the length of Oregon this July and I used Altra Lone Peak trail runners. They are essentially minimalist shoes, and have a wide toe box and zero drop, but with lots of cushioning and a rock plate.
Last week I was looking at the Vivo website. I'm not one to jump into something so pricey but now I'm sure this is what I need. Thanks so much for this.
Yes the price is up there. When I was first looking at them I was like what they heck, you pay more and get less? Haha, but you don't. They are really cool. I did have to get a size smaller than I originally though though. They do have good measuring instructions on their website. But if you are in-between I would go smaller.
I've been using pair of these only for a year, and I gotta say, these shoes are awesome 👍 for some real weird reason after a one month of using it My knee injury / pain just vanished, another thing is that it's super light and flexible, quick drying so it's just absolutely essential for hikers, people who love to travel with a backpack only.
I love your recipe videos Derek but I also love to see different health-related content like this! Please don’t be afraid to mix it up like this every now and then, you always give great info in a really relatable way. I tried the Xero sandals a while back and didn’t love them TBH, they wouldn’t stay on my feet properly. I also tried a German brand called Wildling - more of a sneaker style shoe - and I liked it but they were too snug to wear socks with. Like you I live in the PNW and my feet get cold, so I have to wear socks for about 80% of the year. Haven’t tried the Vivobarefoot yet. Do you wear socks with your barefoot shoes?
Haha, like re-doing old videos or the old skate footage? Yes I did this in the past but I had some new stuff to say and lots of new subscribers who hadn't seen it! Thanks for watching and commenting Jack.
This was informative and interesting! In my culture, wearing outdoor shoes in the house is a no-no so at home I'm always in soft slippers or barefoot, and exercise barefoot on my yoga mat. Didn't realize that is provides quite a few benefits besides the comfort aspect. Outside is a different matter ofc, I like "lighter" shoes but they often have quite slippery soles especially for walking/hiking in the woods. I'm not ready to pay tons of $ for the barefoot shoes mentioned here but will keep an eye out for cheaper similar style shoes.
I used to get shin splints and that made me go barefoot shoes a loooong time ago, with the first Nike Freerunners and never looked back. Since then I've worn Merrell exclusively. Sadly the Company seems to devolve, judging by their latest models. Maybe I'll give Vivo a shot soon. I am a huge proponent of barefoot shoes. not only for healthy feet but for the structural integrity of your whole posture. The only caveat I find is that in winter, slim soles equal cold feet ;)
I have the vevo barefoot and the xero barefoot shoes I love them I did slowly transition into them I started by wearing vans and walking around my house barefoot now they are the shoes that I wear at work on my 12 hr shift

@@Simnettnutrition I don't but I'll definitely check him out!
@@rockybalboa2526
Sorry, but, that is a very generalised and presumptuous opinion....
Not saying it was the footwear change, I just don't know.....but, IT DEFINITELY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY WEIGHT.
Do you think just wearing Vans would have the same effect? They're flat soled as well.
Thanks Derek! I definitely remember that “scary” sound on that beautiful mountain!
The thumbnails give me these 2000s vibes and I love it!
I like my Altra Lone Peaks. Zero drop, wide, no big sole pad. Great (and common) hiking/backpacking shoes. Love them.
I love my barefoot shoes as they are so comfortable and I even forget to take them off when I come back indoors. 😊
Fabulous Derek!
Great content that I surely appreciate!
Have been running in barefoot shoes for about 6 months, cheap ones from Amazon uk ($40). Loved seeing you are also keen on this, thanks for sharing!
Everyone with kneeproblems has to use barefoot shoes, its amazing. First it will hurt but your body adjusts back to a normal position. Great video :).
As always in the best ever setting; nature:) Love the greatness of nature there in Canada; here in the Netherlands even a large forest feels relatively small😅
I've got the exact same Vivo shoes-ladies version. I got into /an even more minimal white Vivo/ barefootshoes slowly at home as everyone advised, still trying to run faster in the graphite ones.
Loved this! I have had barefoot shows for a month now and I really like how light they are 😊
Great video!
Take care.
I'm a big Vivo's fan too! Glad to see you joining the zero drop club 😎
Been wearing barefoot shoes for 2 years and loving it!
the cougar noise!! from the ab video!
I love my Vivobarefoot shoes! Once I switched to barefoot, I can’t go back to regular shoes. Loved the video!
great video!
I love both my Vivo barefoot and merrell barefoot. Both are really comfortable
This was a really interesting video. I may have to get some for Christmas, along with the ebook! I’m so excited for it to come out. Great video as always, Canada is so beautiful. Have a great day Derek!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and are excited for the ebook! Have a great day too!
Do you think that wearing Vans shoes would have a similar effect as these shoes? They are flat-soled and thin as well.
Yep, I remember that video and spot when you heard the mountain lion cougar big foot yeti something.
I must of missed this video from 6 months ago. glad youtube put it on my homepage!
I LOVE THEM TOO!!! I just buy the cheaper ones, usually around $30 to $40, and I swear they changed my summer! SO comfortable and easy to pack and ...GOSH! love em
Where do you buy the cheaper ones?
@@MISSYMINX261 amazon. And their return policy is super great.
Can’t wait for my pair to come in 🙂 thank you Derek for the video
I almost exclusively wear barefoot shoes of the German brand “wildling shoes” for years now. I think they are now also available in North America
Vivo barefoot changed my life!
I started wearing barefoot shoes in 2019/2020 and now it's all I wear. I have one pare of VIvobarefoot and I have several knock off ones off Amazon, particularly the Whitin brand which I really like. I wore Earth Runners all summer.
OMG, now I know why I'm always hitting my heel everytime I run in running shoes. Very interesting
I’m a month into my first Altras and it’s a game changer. My Salomon’s in contrast feel like Chinese foot binding.
Just finished reading Born To Run and became very interested in barefoot running. Great video 👍
I've been use xero shoes, they are a bit cheaper but, I've been using them for about 2 years and I love them for every thing. I think it's awesome that you are using them, it will help me to get more people to use them
Your hoodie is dope!
Also thanks for all this info. I’ve been looking into wearing 0 drops and this was a good primer!
Also great for sporty driving!
You know it! They are actually the best driving shoes and look very similar to actual race shoes. Just wider. The round heel is perfect and the wide toe box is amazing for heel and toe-ing. I love that you know this too! Haha.
I am intrigued, definitely want to try barefoot shoes now. Thanks for sharing :)
Dude! As a 36 year old getting back into skateboarding, would love to see you do a video of your skateboarding!!!
I've worn Altra for hiking for years. They are also zero drop and have a wide toe box. Love them.
Yes, but more padding right? I've heard lots of long distance runners who love these.
@@Simnettnutrition you can get them with less or more padding.
I’ve seen you wearing the Vivobarefoot shoes for a while and was wondering when you were going for do a video on them. Love barefoot shoes and love your channel. Keep up the great work
Really enjoyed the mixing up video topic. Thx!
Perfect timing I was looking for a new pair of vegan hiking shoes with a bungee tie. Getting both of those two things together has been a challenge. 👏
Isn't it amazing? Who woulda thunk it!
I've been using pair of these only for a year, and I gotta say, these shoes are awesome 👍 for some real weird reason after a one month of using it My knee injury / pain just vanished, another thing is that it's super light and flexible, quick drying so it's just absolutely essential for hikers, people who love to travel with a backpack only.
broo i was literally just starting to get into foot health ty for this video!
Going over the old content like a boss!
Great video Derek! Love my cheap Amazon barefoot shoes and yes! I remember the scary sound 😆
I love my vivos! Game changer for my life.
This is a great video! I do remember that video with the sound.
I noticed you were wearing them in a few vids! I've been hugely into the barefoot movent for a few years now.
I have the vevo barefoot and the xero barefoot shoes I love them I did slowly transition into them I started by wearing vans and walking around my house barefoot now they are the shoes that I wear at work on my 12 hr shift
Been wearing Xero 360s for years. Thank you for the great video!!
