I feel incredibly fortunate to have witnessed this immense display of violin genius. Mr. Hadelich stands among the greatest of all time. His sound, his phrasing, his style is original, unique, and inimitable. What a joy it is to see and hear this great artist. And as a violinist, he’s a source of wonder and inspiration to me. Thank you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I have only recently discovered Mr. Hadelich, and I must say that he has been a revelation. His technique is perfect, his interpretations sublime. In my mind here is no better violinist in the world.
Also, major props to the Iceland Symphony, it's remarkable to have such a high quality orchestra with such a small population (350k)!
I bet most of the musicians are foreigners
Apart from his transcendental interpretation, Augustin's cleanness never ceases to confound my senses. Having listened to a fair amount of recordings of this concerto I initially perceive some of the passages here - especially the ones with octaves - as less textured, owing, as I repeatedly discover, to the immaculate intonation, as it neutralises some of the "friction" that gives slightly less-in-tune double stops this texture. On the other hand the sixths are - to my ear - more powerful as getting them clean probably enhances their texture whereas with octaves the perfect resonance replaces some of that "friction". One could truly get obsessed with his technique (which would perhaps be unhealthy). Yet few violinists can merge both form and matter (of which one comes at the expense of the other in many performances) as sublimely as Augustin. In many performances a lack of form and technique demystifies a great interpretation or the other way round; Augustin's performances, however, are a beautiful mystery to me.

Interesting to read your thoughts about the octaves, Hadelich’s intonation is really flawless and his double stops are incredibly clean.

I wish I was in Reykjavik at Harpa to be able to see and hear that beautiful concert played by Mr. Hadelich and the the Icelandic Symphony conducted by magnificent Eva. That would be an EVENT for any music lover's life. Thank you for the possibility for the next best thing. They call this Heaven on Earth....

Excellent interpretation of Sibelius and magnificent interpretation of the adaptation from guitar to violin of Recuerdos de la Alhambra. Kudos for Augustin.

Totally amazed . He is the best ,most talented soloist.
Did security at the Lensic and this song was performed and now I can't stop listening to it-- went searching for a recording that same night and now it plays in my head all the time. I've never had a favorite instrument player before and don't always care for the performances but this one absolutely arrested me.

Awesomely brilliant! The beautiful magnificence of this interpretation is stunning... what a musical richness! All the nordic flavor and color of Sibelius's masterpiece, wonderfully blended in a superb dialog between soloist and orchestra! The mystery, the drama, the romanticism, the passion, the melancholy: all integrated inside a tissue of rhythmic pulse, melody, nuances and texture, perfectly balanced! This extraordinary performance touches my soul so deeply... that I can senses my spirit traveling to the atmosphere! BRAAAVOOO!!

Such mastery. He's probably been playing the Sibelius since he was 12, with full command. Most top performers would sweat and get psyched up for the third movement. He's just getting to the part he knows best.

One thing I love about Augustine is not only how absolutely amazing is he, but how he makes it look easy. He always produces a beautiful full tone and ample volume without working soooooo hard, expending energy , using a full bow for the sake of using a full boy, pushing to hard and forcing the sound .
Ray Chen is an accomplished violinist but he could definitely take a few notes from Augustines book

Very very personally interpretation! Very very deap of violinist. Very beautiful second part. Orchestra play like big country side group conducted by not very sensitive condacter who are not listening what soloist are doing. She just have not enough technical knowledge. But Augustin is super super super personality , making music in every possible substance. Very hard to play difficult Sibelius with such orchestra like this. But Augustin makes it sound like super beautiful music. Super Augustin! Best in the World. Every sound so quality. All technical places are free and perfect. Perhaps condacter goes to school to learn some technical skills with conducting and managing the score.
