    My favorite is the T1s it has the power for a useful EDC, USB-C charging and it uses regular batteries. Thrunite makes excellent quality flashlights. I am so glad you pointed out how important the Candela rating is. I have been using Olight for many years. I use my flashlights everyday and I found the Olight proprietary batteries to be interior to standard Li-ion cells. This alone makes Thrunite a better deal, a better value. Ever since Olight stopped telling you what LED they use in the lights they have dropped in quality and value. Let me put it this way, many of you are also into pocket knives, would you buy a knife that the manufacturer refused to tell what steel they put in the blade? I have said enough.

      I love my olights but that’s a great point… the leds are usually the biggest (and only) issue with my olights. I would love if they could add some high cri leds eventually

    I have all three of the Thrunite models. The T1S is my favorite of the three, but the W1 is the one that is in my truck bag. I really like the option of being able to use regular CR123 batteries if needed.

    Done with Thrunite, had 3 and they all quit working after 4-6 months continuous use. I'm nite blind and I use a light every morning and evening. Friend suggested the Baton S1R II and I've had it now for 3 years, haven't ever replaced the battery either.

      OK. So you have a lot of experience, and thrunite is not good quality. 1 or 2 I can understand., but 3 bad flashlights? No wonder they are lower priced.

      @@tyarnold4088bought the w1 first and then later bought 2 T1's, one for my brother. The W1 went out during a night fishing trip,.no biggie I paid $30 bucks and it dropped a couple times. So then when I got the other 2, I had it for 6 months and it just stopped working, swapped batteries and nothing. It was later on, about a year that my brother said his had stopped working. I bought 2 olight baton S1R II's and we both still use them, me every nite. Still haven't replaced the 1630 battery either.... magnetic charging is the only way to go for me from now on

    The T1S for me. My first “real” flashlight was a thrunite, and I still use it on a daily basis 7 years later. This would be a great upgrade, that I would be proud to carry as my daily driver. Thanks for the opportunity!

    Thrunite T1S seems to be the one for me. I have gathered data on about 100 flashlights to find decent ones that meet different needs. The T1S meets the needs of having a magnetic base, hat clip and not too big. Along with a good low mode and a decent high mode. Rovyvon may beat it out though for me. Glad you made these videos!

    I have all three of the thrunite's and have to say I prefer the T1 with it's wide floody spill it is perfect for seeing in and around the house as well as working on the car. The others are great if you are in a large open outdoor area and need to see far away. The best way thrunite could improve the T1 is give it a usb type C charger.

    Personally I'm a huge fan of olight and thrunite. Don't forget the budget line "wowtac". Until recently I could only get a more focused beam from Olight. But the trade off was cool white. I prefer neutral. However olight is typically more on the cool side. I personally would enjoy the T1s. It sounds like its the best of both. Thank you for your time for creating this informative content.

    I love the baton 3. I use it with an olink clipped to my belt loop. It’s easy to use, and manipulate when holding several things. Sometimes I’ll use the olink to hold a tool for a second while I use the light.

    I have many Olights that I am happy with BUT, the battery issue has always made me look for other options. I want to be able to drop any battery of the appropriate size in the flashlight and go. 3.7 or 1.5v. Jetbeam has a couple options that I own but they don't have the magnetic tail option. Which I have always found very handy. The T1S is very tempting.

    • @nitrorc4life1
      @nitrorc4life1 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have multiple olights like many do, just drop another battery from them in, if not, just buy a spare and your good for years. Now "built in" batteries.... I get disliking that. Many say, but I don't want to buy another battery....as they have atleast one other light in their shopping cart.......

    2 years ago, I needed a powerful flashlight for going outdoors on the property after dark. I chose a couple very expensive Olight's, but within hours of sending the order Olight had a sale which drastically reduced the price of the flashlights. I called Olight and asked about the sale, but they declined the discount saying my order had been filled, even though it wasn't getting shipped for a while. I cancelled the order with Olight, and it was weeks before I was returned my funds. In the interim I order a Thrunite Catapult V6 which I received within the week. Since that experience I've ordered another Thrunite Catapult V6, A Thrunite Catapult mini, and a Thrunite T1S. I've been extremely pleased with the performance of Thrunite, and as I told Olight at the time, I will never buy an Olight!

    Have the baton 3 in blue with the power supply. Not the best bang for the buck, but still very usable, and I have a variety of olights that use the same charger.
    Waterproofing is better on the olights, I believe because no charge plug port.

    I have been a Baton user for some time now. While you consider the magnetic charging cable on the Olight a negative, I love that I don't have to fiddle with a rubber cover or bring a cable plugged in... The mag cable almost jumped onto the Baton. I also love my charging case. Olight still the winner for me.

    Great video and review. Completely agree with your ranking. I have both the Olight Baton 3 and Thrunite T1s. I prefer the T1s due to the higher output and candela, price, usb-c, non-proprietary charger and battery, and for the most used medium mode I prefer the brighter beam on the T1s vs Baton 3. I had to return an almost new Baton 3 that got extremely hot while charging, would no longer come on, and even got warm to the touch just sitting on the counter in off mode after it quit. Thrunite has impressed me so far. It would be nice if the T1s had the better pocket clip from the Olight. Thanks for the video and offering a great giveaway!

  • @blueshadow84

    For me the smaller form factor of the Baton 3 puts it at the top of my list. Ive had a T1 that I carried for a while, but always came back to the baton

    • @masterofreality230
      @masterofreality230 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, the size to output ratio is what had me going for the Olight, the T1S looked just big enough to be less comfortable to carry all day.

  • @K_G_1
    @K_G_1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I agree that the proprietary battery and charging of the olight has disadvantages, but I've also had many USB charging ports break on devices over the years. The magnetic charging of the olight seems much more robust and less likely to break over time.

    I've got 3 W1's, one on my wife's nightstand, one on my nightstand & one my dresser, & a T1 magnetically attached to my medicine cabinet. The T1s appears to best them all, would be a great replacement & good for pocket carry too.

    I love my Baton 3 with the charge box, can't imagine having a need for off the shelf disposable batteries. Use Baton & place in box to top off and recharge box whenever needed. I have used high quality rechargeable lights professionally since late 70's, have little use for store bought batterie$ that are weak & have one life. Professionally if I needed longer run time I would have extra rechargeable batteries or a 2nd light for the performance. However, being retired I have only used mini lights the last 20 years so don't have a fair comparison based on professional need. YMMV Thanks for a great review

    Half a lumen is useless unless you're in a tactical situation. 2 Lumens, as on the Perun Mini, is very useful.
    BTW, I own a few Olights. I think they are a notch above. But hey, that's my opinion. One feature no one talks about is the timer function on Olights. There are 2 settings: 3 min and 9 min. I use that feature every night when going to bed. When camping and I'm bundled up, no need to get an arm out to turn it off. It's an awesome feature you don't know you need!! LOL Great video bud. Cheers

    I see Olight advertised all over the place and the deal breaker is the lights are carried lens up, a big nope. I've asked many times of Olight fan boys and Olight reps and no one seems to know , if the lumen ratings are ANSI or OTF. I have the Thrunight T1 and love it. I like Olight key chain lights, but I'l stick to the other major brands for my big lights.

    Great video! Fantastic job with the editing. I liked the "hand motion" to make the spec.'s appear on the screen. 😎👍
    Of course I'm a sucker for the Baton 3 series, just like everybody else. But I do love my Thrunite's. The W1 looks so cool in that green color. But the T1 is one of my all time favorite lights because of the infinity ramping. The only one I don't own is the T1s. I'm hoping that Thrunite is in the process of making a larger edc style light (18650 or 21700) with a TIR lens. I have several of their larger lights with smooth, deep reflectors which I do love. But I'm waiting on that nice TIR 21700.

    My favorite would be between the W1 and the T1S... My choice would be the T1S due to the USB-C charging cable, compatibility with OTC batteries, output including the lowest mode and the slightly larger size. I don't have large hands, but sometimes have longer nails, which tend to make it harder for me to fingertip grip a small flashlight securely. (Probably not something you hear much from your subscribers. 😄) On sale it wouldn't be much more expensive than the W1 at regular price, although for my EDC purposes, the W1 would work for me just fine. I also like the looks of the W1.

    Interesting lights, the T1S is certainly interesting at the price. Not sure I really agree with the premise of the comparison though, it's like declaring a AA light better than a AAA light. Something I think is worth noting here is the warranty, if price is going to be hotly contested, then what you get for the price should be considered.
    From a quick look, batteries aren't covered by Thrunite's warranty at all, and they'll only cover you on defects for 24 months. Olight does cover batteries, for one year, with the Baton 3 having a 5 year warranty on the device itself.
    Will definitely be keeping an eye on the T1s for sales though, would be a good bag light to set and forget.

    Olight S1R Baton ll, the predecessor to the Baton 3, can use every CR123, RCR123 and 16340 I have tried.
    The newer Olight IMR16340 that comes in both the Baton 3 and the S1R Baton ll...CAN be charged in a port charger BY placing a small magnet on the recessed button top.
    S1R Baton ll is still king, IMO, because of the Baton 3 battery IMCOMPATABILITY and the marginal gains in useful power output, save moonlight runtime.
    Edit = W1, T1S, T1, then Baton3. Still prefer S1R Baton ll however.

    If you find an edc one with incredible run time because to rely on. 40 to 50 lumens mode with a gigantic runtime is so useful don t hesitate and I am still looking for a flood light

    What I like about the baton 3 is that can be run straight from a power bank with a mcc3 cable and still blast out 1200 bursts. I have used it on 70min hike with one of the older style batteries without the lip and all it needed was 50mah charge when I arrived home. My Sofirn sc21 can use the olight batteries and this covers off the neutral tint/high cri angle and I will swap the battery into a baton 3 to recharge it while out and about. I’m not a huge fan of rubber flaps but that’s personal preference. I don’t have any 18350 lights ( I do have some Hank lights which can take 18350 tubes) so I don’t really want to add another battery type to 16340/18650/21700/26650.
    The thrunites do look good though and I’ve never had any complaints about the few I own.

    Actually yes you can use a bay charger for the Olight battery you have to use a magnet and place it over the positive part where the ring is. Basically the the magnet acts as a extension of the positive and allows you to touch the bay terminals

    I prefer the floody beam of the T1 personally, wish they would just update it with usb-c and a nore efficient led, high cri would be the cherry on the cake.
    Would be a perfect little edc work light for me then. I was using a milwaukee penlight which was pretty good but it crapped out on me and stopped charging, its a sealed unit so cant be serviced.
    Ive just bought a Wurkkos TS22 and that rhing is a beast of a light, in reality though im only really going to use low and medium though so something more compact would be nicer to carry around all the time.

    Nothing that size can beat the olight baton 3 and perun mini 2. Unbeatable all round. some are brighter and cheaper. but the convenience of magnetic charging is beautiful. spare battery cost 5.9 euros. On olight sale days you can get both for 58 euros. and it lasted me 3 years already.

    At 8:51 you mentioned that the olight isn't able to use off the shelf cr123 batteries and, at least with the baton 3 i own, mine in fact does operate with a standard cr123. It's just that when not being operated with the rechargeable battery it comes with your will be unable to activate the turbo mode. But again that just what i have experienced with my olight baton 3

    Even though you talked about it least, based entirely on what you discussed here I think I’d be most interested in the T1 (the second ThruNite you showed off).
    It looks like it has that ultra-wide beam pattern that a cell phone flashlight has, which is awesome for Illuminating a close-up space for multiple people. I go walking with my girlfriend at night, and until I broke down and bought her a flashlight of her own, she would depend on the beam of my S1R Baton II. Not the S1R Baton II isn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination, but is really only suited for one person to use it by him/herself.
