@brianquan7218 that's also what i was thinking, I bet just off the shelf there are bows and Lakers in wait. I was thinking next time I'll bring casting spoons and larger gear and give it a try!
I'm surprised more people don't fish for mountain whitefish, I catch em all the time and eat them out of the fraser between chilliwack and hope. And the limit there is 15. Great eating fish.
That sounds like fun! How big do they get and how would you suggest catching them. I have never tried that fishery and would like to. Would save me the trip to the interior haha.
@@TheFishingDoctorsAdventures Rod did a video with Nick Basok last year about winter cutthroat, he was catching a bunch of whitefish. I use a med/light baitcaster (7lb-12lb) and a 10 or 12 gram float and just drift 1 or 2 eggs on a tiny hook. For spinning, pretty much any standard whitefish method works. One of my favorites is a almost drop shot style, except I use a nail for weight and a small fly or piece of bait. Like most places in BC there's alot of small whitefish, but they get up to about the same size as anywhere else, like in Alberta, just more rare.
Definitely an overlooked fish. Wonder if there would be any big rainbows or lakers stalking those big schools.

They are good fighters, good in the smoker

@Pray4Mojo1 thanks for the tips. I watched that video of Nick and thought he was catching mostly Pike minnows.
@@Pray4Mojo1 i will have to watch it again.
Good video
Thanks!
We fish that whitefish on stave river as well at the dam. Using jigging with trout magnet. We also used underfloat with shrimp. Tightlines.
@frankpee1453 that sounds fun! Wonder how big they get in the rivers.
