BJP could hack EVMs in Chattisgarh and Rajasthan in 2023 where they didn't have power but some how couldn't in Karnataka where they were in power . Makes so much sense right, having control over Chattisgarh is more lucrative as compared to Karnataka, it's not like Bengaluru is capital of Karnataka and not Chattisgarh.

BJP can hack EVMs in West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana, Punjab, Kerala and Tamil Nadu (states where its vote shares are increasing) where they are not in power, but cannot hack EVMs in Rajasthan, Haryana and Bihar ( states where BJP or NDA are losing vote share and seats as compared to 2019) despite being in power. Again, makes so much sense.

Chandigarh, surat, indore. Its not about EVM itself the machine will do what the machine is designed to its about people in charge, if they manipulate the evm code to vote for a certain party or not vote for a a certain party if a overflow error occurs in machine memory etc, it could swing close margin elections. The code is not publicly available there are no hackathons or bug bounty challenges to ensure robustness, how can you be sure something designed a decade ago has no loopholes. its about openness, no process is perfect election isn't either,
Sure even if EVM is foolproof why not make it law to match it with VVPAT, infact improve the VVPAT to print two slips with barcodes one stays in VVPAT other is given to the voter to put in a ballot box ... count all three it would be a triple redundant system, its about strentnging the process not saying its perfect no improvement can be made ever lets leave it alone, that's how companies and cviliaztions disappear, complacent with the current status quo while somebody better comes and suddenly crushes them.

One of the major reasons the process is robust is the fact that the process is overseen by bureaucrats not IAS but teachers, clerks and such who themselves have different political affiliations and want to keep their job more than their affiliations and unlike some of our neighbouring countries, people question results (like someone getting zero votes) regardless of your party affiliation, so while the top layer of ECI can be made to take key decisions that favours one side, EVMs or counting manipulations are rare.
I wont say they are efficient or fault free though, even with EVMs if you make them count the votes they will come back with different numbers, so yes they are inefficient, yes they are corrupt at the top, but the process cannot be hacked.
That is, till today and I dont think it is super easy to manipulate it.

I recall that it was not just Balraj Madhok who went to court with the plea about magically coated ballot paper. Rajnarain, who lost to Indira Gandhi also filed an election petition in Allahabad HC with the same plea. When Shanti Bhushan argued the petition, he dismissed this silly plea. Instead, he proved that Indira Gandhi had misused government machinery for winning her seat in Rae baraily. That was how Justice Jagmohan Lal Sinha unseated her. The rest became infamous history, with Indira Gandhi imposing "internal" emergency to save her power.

I'm a common man but my answer to this will be no , I may be wrong but still I will stick to it
The 17c , the book in which a voter signs , in which His id card (aadhar ) no. Etc is written is shared with the agent of every candidate.
Every candidate also has the list of eligible voters in his constituency before election starts
If so much of bogus voting is done
The candidates can easily find out matching the total list of voters with 17c.

Make the voting booths and the outside covered by CCTV.
Ensure harshest punishments to anyone obstructing the constitution, voting and the related rights.
Open-source the evm code and invite hackers from around the world to try their best.
These are not very hard to implement. But the eci will never implement processes which ensures 100% transparency.

    • @WickederDrake37
      @WickederDrake37 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. Voting booth outside should be covered and inside polling station should be covered by CCTV. Not the booth itself. Voting is private.
      2. Punishments exists, who will implement? TMC killed a Muslim candidate of BJP in West Bengal. Who will punish them? You?
      3. Open-source code? What Code? There is no C, C++, Java, Golang, Python, etc. There is only hard-coded registers that are pre-programmed, either the code is built into hardware, such as a Prom, jumpers, the arrangement of logic chips, or a switch array. Once coded in manufacturing, they cannot be changed at all. So, what open source software are you talking about?
      4. Every EVM can be used only 2 times due to this. In case of any issue, the entire machine has to be changed.
      5. Hacking challenge of EVM is still on by the ECI. Anybody is welcome to challenge it. Till date nobody managed to hack it. Congress once said, ECI is not allowing to open the machine, in order to hack it, so they are not able to do it. Question is, why would they allow you to open it in front of everyone, as if you could walk into a polling station and open it there? Rubbish logic.
      6. EVM has different set of screws and wire connections, no USB, no RJ-45 ports, nothing. How can you hack it? It's not even connected to a plug outlet, it has it's own power supply.
      7. 50 random fake votes are put on every EVM before the start of poll. These votes are done in front of the party cadres or candidates before the poll, so that they can judge the EVM authenticity themselves. If it is found that there is any issue, the entire system is changed right then and there.
*After all these, if you think EVM can be hacked, like I said challenge by the ECI is still on. HACK THE EVM AND BECOME NATION'S HERO.*
      *SO FAR, EVERYONE FAILED*

In fact the core of this accusation is that rather than EVM, the people who guard those EVMs are not trusted by a significant number of Indians. If it were a Vajpayee rule, this doubt might not have arisen at all. Amit shah and his team have shown many times that they may go at any length to win a battle...!

EVMs need not be hacked if one has sufficient control in their manufacturing. One needs to manipulate only a small percentage during the manufacturing stage. The percentage has to be small enough so that any detection at the testing/quality control stage falls within the acceptable range of failure. This will not make a win sure for anybody but will definitely give a push and an edge.

EVMs integrity may not be questionable - but the integrity of Lapata Gentlemen is certainly doubtful.. 7 phase long schedule, the states which were challenging for BJP were spread thin in all 7 phases just so that their master gets time to campaign.. Taking no action on repeated hate speeches by the SUPREME LEADER .. what other proof do you need..

I would think questioning EVM credibility would be backfire, as those who voted BJP and swing voters wouldn't trust you anyway, but the core supporters would be demoralised thinking its rigged and not come to vote.

Chandigarh, surat, indore. Its not about EVM itself the machine will do what the machine is designed to its about people in charge, if they manipulate the evm code to vote for a certain party or not vote for a a certain party if a overflow error occurs in machine memory etc, it could swing close margin elections. The code is not publicly available there are no hackathons or bug bounty challenges to ensure robustness, how can you be sure something designed a decade ago has no loopholes. its about openness, no process is perfect election isn't either,
Sure even if EVM is foolproof why not make it law to match it with VVPAT, infact improve the VVPAT to print two slips with barcodes one stays in VVPAT other is given to the voter to put in a ballot box ... count all three it would be a triple redundant system, its about strentnging the process not saying its perfect no improvement can be made ever lets leave it alone, that's how companies and cviliaztions die, complacent with the current status quo while somebody better comes and suddenly crushes them.

if u have little brain you will know you cant manipulate just like that. once voting is done all evms are sealed and opened only before party ppl.so as long as its not sealed party workers / polling agents will be watching it. also there will be VVPATS. you should work one day as polling agent then u will know its impossible to cheat.even if u wanna code evms each evm will have all party votes.if one evm have all bjp votes then you can say its rigged. hope u r getting the logic. its just ur ego which is acting on ur mind. just go and work as polling agent you will know

Evms can't be questioned now especially after introducing vvpats. But in bengal, scientific rigging is happening. Like stopping some people who they think opposition party voters from going to booths, plastering the button of a rival party in EVM completely etc. That's the concern.

  • @anupjacob394

Indian democracy is an electoral democracy.
In an electoral democracy, voting mechanism ad its counting process are some of the important things among many others that decides the integrity of the election.
Within the scope of voting mechanism and counting process simply stating that there is no issue with the EVM is not a good argument nor does it bring any confidence. For gaining trust of all the voters, credible and transparent actions have to be taken. But none has been taken by the election commission and we are suppose to accept their word as gospel truth. That is not how democracy works. I am afraid the editor's opinion is just sentimental devoid of objectivity. Stating election has integrity doesn't make it to have integrity. This is logic 101.
