You are not failing. You are human and a great reminder to other struggling parents that it is okay to make mistakes. The kids will not remember the few times that you forgot to move the elf. What they will remember is the lessons they learned and all of the great memories you are creating. You are doing a great job and shouldn’t give yourself such a hard time.

Real-life chaos is so much more relatable than perfection. :) We've scaled our holidays waaaay back; I deal with seasonal depression, and one kid has a really hard time handling anticipation, so we keep it simple. It took me years to learn to do that. This year we didn't even put up a tree (my kids are post-Santa) and it was Christmas all the same without sending me into a nosedive.
