I like the climate controlled room with big dual windows. It's clear there has been much thought. Most amateur observatories are garden sheds with an electrical outlet.
Nice set up I'm looking into building one soon. I just got the Orion Atlas mount and I have a Orion 80mm ED for astrophotography. I will make it as nice and as big as possible I also have a 16" Dob for deep sky viewing, you have lots of space that's an A+ in my books. Good job man.
Thank you! You're right, you really can't have too much space. We are about to install a second pier for a wide-field scope as we left enough room for expansion!
cosminadriana balan while the scope is admittedly not high end, the observatory helps us maximize the results by eliminating wind and vibration. Having a warm room during the winter it makes us more likely to observe during the best seeing conditions. We are working on upgrading equipment incrementally so we don't break the bank.
I have a roll off shed myself with a permanent pier and a CGE Pro + 12 inch ONTC Newt Astrograph. Though decent, it's hardly professional stuff but it didn't keep me from building a shed with automated roll off roof. My setup is just for making nice pictures but what's wrong with doing it from a permanent location sheltered from wind and cold? Even if I would use equipment three times cheaper it wouldn't stop me from building an observatory :-)
I can't help but wonder, is it worth it? I have to estimate the cost in the 10's of thousands of dollars! Are you a millionaire with time on your hands? Weather permitting, do you run observations for days/weeks in a row? You have to be single, no woman would put up with that! Unless she's your observatory partner, then, why isn't she in the video?
Amazing job! Your observatory looks so professional. Thanks for sharing!

Very sweet! Nice to know there are astronomers worse than me lol
Wow that is real nice congratulations wish I'd have one
I love it!

Hi i LOVE your obs But is just tu much For your Poor setup telescope
Why is "too much"? What does telescope size / setup have to do with having a nice observatory with a permanent pier?

Very Nice
Any plans or construction photos? Looking to make something like this.
This look really fantastic. Anywhere online we can see your images?
