drove for 30 years, pretty much got flipped off by a four wheeler the last 10 of those years. not to mention the calls to my company. as they lied about being cut off as they try to shove their car in front of my rig. Do not miss it one bit.
Truckers are at the mercy of shippers and receivers. Always have always will be. A truck can take all the freight you want any where you want. But if the shipper makes them wait 5 hours to load and 5 hours to unload a trailer , it’s like putting a stick in a bicycles wheels of the industry. Im a owner operator and haul long haul refrigerated freight. Just today I hauled a load of frozen turkeys in to Oregon from Utah , to the Albertsons distribution center in San Rafael in Gresham. My appointment was for 10 am to get unloaded. Guess what time I left the warehouse ? 2:30 pm. I had three stops on this load. Albertsons only got 4 pallets of the freight but takes hours to take it off the truck and then count the product. It’s a joke. I’m not the only only they hold up like this. It’s standard procedure in this food hauling business. Don’t believe me ? Go and park In front of the warehouse on San Rafael in Gresham . Then watch how long it takes for a truck to come back out after it goes in. Go speak to some of the truckers waiting to get in and out. Or read the on line reviews for some of these places. The average load and unload time is 3-5 hours. Even In today’s modern advanced society, companies can’t get their act together to stream line a process and not waste time. The biggest waste and joke in this industry is “LUMPERS”. That’s a news worthy story, how the lumpers slow down food to your grocery store and who exactly is loading and unloading your food before you get your hands on it. If you saw what I saw going in and out of these places, you would have a whole new point of view of grocery stores , food handling process and the people who handle the food you put in your mouth.
Very true, these lumpers charge $350 to unload just 5 pallets. I can unload that in 30 minutes less. Most of these lumpers business, their employees are very rude, disrespectful to truckers too! A lot of essential issues in trucking that’s hidden, the public have know idea.
Ricky Harvey that’s your fault if you agree to work for that. I make plenty for what I do. Stop agreeing to work for cheap or get another job that pays and you don’t need to strike. No one owes you anything special.
A lot of people don't realize that everything that they own in their home, came on a truck. After this, the DOT will start harassing drivers again, and truckers will only be mentioned if something bad happens, sad but true.
We don’t need more truck drivers We need more regulation over the brokers who keep all the money sitting on a chair behind a computer making more money than the driver
U need them pay them right!!!As always use them and screw them on payday!!Most dont know most hourly driver dont get paid over time pay and most milage drivers dont get mile for mile pay.
Hundreds of trucking companies have gone out of business due to regulations, electric logs that have drivers stop an hour from there delivery location because they may have gotten delayed due to accident on the road, under cut on freight prices from trucks from Mexico that were allowed to haul here before returning to Mexico where truck upkeeps are not equal to our DOT inspection. Now you have to have truck driver training school to get your CDL. This shortage was created by so called do gooder so now everyone is going to suffer. Veteran drivers are quiting in record numbers because companies like Wal-Mart have gotten into the trucking industry and don't pay good wages anymore. It will only get worse. Companies are and have been closing their doors for a few years now.
Cynthia wanek I agree with almost everything. The Mexico trucks only come in a few hundred miles across state lines then go back. The companies who hire cheap labor that then wreck trucks is who caused the insurances time go up. And Walmart actual pays their drivers very well. Most distribution centers that use semi trucks to haul their own goods pay their people well. My hey got sick of dealing with independent Omer operators who were dangerous , undependable, and just unprofessional. So they bought their own trucks and hired and trained drivers. They have pretty low turn over. It’s the swifts , knights , prime and the like who ruined this business. Hiring low wage young drivers , not offering proper training and then cutting them lose with 80,000 lbs pounds of machine and freight going down the road speeding.
Now the country knows how much truck drivers do for them, but after the pandemic fear dies down these people will go back to disrespecting drivers and take them for advantage. Congress did not approve of the Heroes Pay in the stimulus package but yet people who took off got financial relief for staying at home. I know of 2 drivers that passed away in their trucks from Covid far from home trying to keep America moving. The sacrifices truck drivers make hoes unnoticed. Remember if all the trucks stopped today most gas stations would be out of gas in 24 hours. Most grocery stores would be out of products to sale in 48 hours. The most powerful industry in America can shut this country down in 5 days.
That guy is full of krapp, Everything in the store goes on a market truck 1st. It's almost like they're the only trucking company out there That's doing anything.
Thank you truck drivers! 👍
This should be a reminder for a lot of people at home 🏡 how much we are unappreciated and people hate us ....
If you got it a trucker brought it !

Only when the government needs them they suspend hours they should drive

Walmart drivers have to have logged alot of accident free miles before they hire a driver. your take is mostly not true
The only reason shelf’s are empty is bc logistic brokers keep the rates for themselves 60% off the load and slow down the delivery

Truck drivers have always worked around-the-clock.
That guy is full of krapp, Everything in the store goes on a market truck 1st. It's almost like they're the only trucking company out there That's doing anything.
When truck drivers fall asleep while they're driving, It makes a big costly mess.
What’s the delay lol its like a April fools joke in March
CDL
all truckers should stop delivering for awhile
I guess they can't do that, They will send in the National Guard and make you drive.
antifa and black lives matter got anything to do with the lack of store deliveries in that area ???
