just to clarify something: DS4Windows is not necessary anymore. Steam can detect a DS4 and you can use Steam Input instead. a much simpler process and requires no driver fuckery.

DS4 is the way to go when Steam just can't get it right. Own original games and multiple PS4 joysticks and never managed to make Steam run them properly.
DS4 just solved everything that was wrong on my end with Steam!
@@rollwulf well here's the thing, Steam detects if you have the DS4 proper drivers. if you run DS4Windows those will alter your DS4 drivers, meaning Steam will not detect them anymore.
the benefit of DS4Windows though is not needing to create shortcuts for every third party game, or as Jack Hammer puts it here "pirates life" ;P
@@themainman2827 no it's not. Just add your 7 Seas version as "non-Steam Game" and you can use DS4, Xbox One, Switch Pro, and every other Xinput controllers for your games.
Steam is kind like that, despite what the other trend-hopping company would say.
Running Nier: A at 100+ fps while having the fantastic texture pack makes returning to the PS4 version painful.
What cpu and GPU do you have?
@@bartiz12 An i5 4950 and a GTX 1070. I select the unlock framerate in FAR and it jumps north of 100 fps. Mind you, I turned down the ridiculous GI solution they have to medium (while still using the native res light shafts/fogs option).
Any hardware from 2016-2020 should easily be able to crush my performance figures.

I'm getting about 45-50 fps at 1440p with my GTX 1060 6gb and i5 7600k. For the life of me I can't get good stable frames.

Alex of course You dont, but I thought, who should I ask, since developer wont do anything tk fix the game - someone from the modding comunity. You may be the person to know the technical quirks. Because You already fixed some of them. Why the game not detects second gpu. The issue is related to this game only. I do not need technical support for my laptop.
The 2B Hook mod completely rejuvenated the game for me. All it took was using it to keep enemies within 3 levels of me so I could always have a challenge.
How did you get 2b hook to work? With my copy I opened into the main menu then used a third party injector to inject the dll but to no avail. What injector did you use if I might ask?
I had fought enemies 20 levels higher than me... Just keep on perfect-dodging and you'll survive XD
Get the chips that slow time after perfect-dodge will help :P
Thats my biggest problem with the game playing on ps4. Ive always wanted to go back to certain bosses and have them scale up to my current like a borderlands game

With the mods it was perfect for me. Did take some work but I had it running over 100fps at 1440p back when it was new.

Some notes: GPUnity's texture pack already includes a higher rez texture for 2B, and A2, Ones's 100% faithful to original. FAR is still necessary for any resolution past 540p actually - the game just resamples low rez into high at other ones, nothing was properly fixed. Playing at beyond 60 FPS is not really feasible outside of fooling around a bit in combat due to the fact a lot of animations are tied to the framerate, thus run faster the higher the framerate. The flying sections in particular are 100% tied to framerate, and completely break past 60 fps, there's some spots where you'll even take damage during cutscenes (or die instantly without any chance to move if your on harder difficulties). The de-banding mod you recommended using is not compatible with GPUnity's texture pack.
And while sure most might still recommend playing with a controller, with NAIOM, the game's mouse and keyboard controls are great, vastly better then previous controller centric square enix ports. I'd even argue superior in a few areas.

I actually found that playing with a keyboard and mouse was easier than with a controller. Granted, this was only after I bought a mouse with additional buttons (which I bound to dash and use of the pod ability respectively).
NAIOM is pretty much essential in this case.
I don't understand people that say playing with a controller is better. Not being able to turn the camera fast and precisely is for some reason OK if it's a third person game.

Well, it's not perfect (what is though). At least the PC version was far from perfect but the community really stepped up and created some amazing mods and fixed the issues with the PC version. The only thing that seems to bug me now is the sheer number of invisible walls in the game. Other than that it is a beautiful game indeed.

Far + Reshade + Texture pack for sure, I personally need to try LOD. Just don't go beyond 1440p because the cut scenes are not rendered natively they are all prerendered so it looks crazy ugly when it jumps to a cut scene.

Great video. All the mods you mentioned I have used but out of all of them, NAOIM literally changes the entire way you PLAY the game. It elevates the entire experience from occasionally frustrating to excellent, which is a damn shame for those who don't know anything about modding and thugged their way through the game using the keyboard and mouse and the vanilla control scheme! Without NAOIM I don't think I ever could've finished the game. One mod you didn't mention is the one that helps you convert the video files to 60FPS, although I'm not sure if that's a mod or not

They should just have his KH sword as a weapon in the gold saucer or something. We don’t need weapons skins when even the ps1 game had different looks for every sword. His AC costume should be a free unlock after beating All three “episodes” as maybe a prelude to FF7: AC then later we get to play the events of AC remade. Tbh I wouldn’t buy any skins for this game especially since It will probably be modded on PC in a year.

Make sure to install the FAR mod like he said. In case you end up replaying it on PC here's a little warning, when you start a new game and you have to enter a name, disable low latency mode in FAR, otherwise you won't be able to type a name.

a video i didnt even know i needed thanxx about to play it for the first time in 2023!!
For my most recent playthrough, I went with the NVO reshade, with a few tweaks. Clean was an close runner up but it, along with the other reshades, seemed to give the androids a fleshy hue. (I mean, it had to be there in first place, but they just brought it out a bit too much for my eyes) NVO is in the same spirit as Clean, but it kept a more porcelain look. Plus, it has Ray Tracing support.
There's also an AI upscaled video replacement; up to 4K but back down to 1080p because reasons. AI upscales can leave a bit of artifacting around movement but I feel that this effect fits NieR perfectly.
The Partial LOD Fix mostly just works in the City but it's a nice addition. Similar to your shipping crate example with the texture mod.
And finally, for playing 21:9 or 32:9 widescreen, the Nexus has a 'Definitive' Mod List & Guide with fixed .exes in the files section that corrects stretching on video and menus. (There's a fairly new listing with the same/similar .exes but they have been flagged by the system and are currently unavailable for download) Unless, of course, you like your 2Bs extra thicc.
To me platinum games is a big part of the reason why I love this game. They’re an incredible developer I think and can’t wait for the wonderful 101 ps4 port in May. Can’t wait it finally play that game after missing out on it on wii u.

One question. Im running this game on maxed settings with 60fps locked and no FAR. My rig doesnt need FAR at all but is it true that it actually makes the game more beautiful? Because I thought it´s only useful for performance issues which I dont have.

I don't think enough people have brought up how bad the PC port for this game is. Like when I put it in full screen mode I couldn't even read most of the text and the frame rate was super inconsistent. The FAR mod fixed all of that and it was super easy to install. Thank God for the modding community because this game is so much more enjoyable when it looks pretty and runs smoothly.

The FAR mod actually made the game stutter when moving the camera. Except the lagging cutscenes I had 0 problems with this game. Guess I was lucky

Thanks for the PC controls mod. Although I came across this video while on my second playthrough of the whole game but yeah it was useful. Though the initial settings were also pretty good I didn't really have issues and I finished through A to E with the native settings for PC only. But yes thanks again.
P.S. Not a purist but broke to not be able to buy a controller. In our country consoles and console, accessories are very expensive than PC.

@@lungaville1219 had some trouble too. for me the gradiance mod doesn't work. and @bilding Body if install the shader as told in the discription, shut down SMAOO or how it was spelled. something with s in the beginning and O in the end. dropped my framerate down, but without it it runs perfect at 60 fps min

I absolutely love this game. The combination of story, gameplay, music, structure and interface is such a complete and unexpected package, its hard to praise it enough for the things it does. Its one of the definining highpoints in gaming for me and is *the* game to beat when it comes to using structure and the particularities of gaming as a tool, alongside Undertale.
However if there is one aspect I would like to see improved via a mod, it would be the difficulty curve. Short version: A rebalancing of certain chips and level scaling would probably take care of a lot here.
DETAILED RAMBLING: If you start on normal, the very early game is alright in the pacing of difficulty, though a bit on the easier side past the intro. I have played the game myself a ton and watched many playthroughs, and its honestly very rare for someone to die on normal (and I am talking like 1 death per 10+h). And on top of that, all these deaths that do happen are centered around specific enemies that are just high level brick walls (walking across shoddy bridge and meeting the semigoliath who can oneshot you at low level) or on gimmicks like the one hit KO stompers on the conveyor belt in the factory.
Then, once you get some levels and some particular chips (30% health back on kill even on stubbies? Congrats you are now immortal) the game becomes trivial in terms of challenge. The ideas behind many chips are super cool but its too easy to utterly outmatch the enemies. Add to that that the game usually enthuses players so much they end up doing a large portion if not all the sidequests they find, so players are at way high levels in the lategame. If you ever wondered if you are the only one that had to deliberately not attack bosses yo you don't kill them too quickly and skip their engaging dialogue, then no. Everybody I have ever watched play the game had to go easy on the bosses in route C+D to listen to the dialogue. This should *not* happen and is my single biggest complaint. I think this might be the level scaling so the advantage a player gains with being higher level should really taper off, or harshly diminishing returns for each further level or something (I don't know the mechanics behind the scenes). Also do you know how cool it is to hack in the final fight a bunch of times? Super cool and kind of a magic moment. Too bad most people can never get to see it outside of yt videos because they do too much damage for it to be possibly get enough hacks in.
Okay so what about "hard"? Well hard has an absolutely punishing early game that sees most people having to replay the intro a bunch of times and really struggle to get off the ground. The jump up from normal is honestly kinda insane. I think a level between those two would have been nice because this kind of leaves a large portion of player having to pick between too hard and too easy for early game. But even this does not prevent the game from still becoming easy in later parts due to some OP chips that will do just as much work in hard as they do in normal. So here the curve is even more baffling as the game starts super hard but still becomes pretty easy later on.
TLDR: A rebalancing mod that strikes a good balance between hard and normal and manages to keep that until the end of the game so the finale isn't the easiest part would be a godsend and make this game perfect for me.
Oh and one more thing: Don't have the DLC spoil new players about things like who they get to play later on. make the items only available in later routes or block out mentions in them that reference later characters. I saw someone get spoiled on route CD because you get a wig for it in Route A in the DLC... . On this note: When introducing someone new, try to not even spoil the number of endings and playthrough stuff. Just imagine how much cooler it is to find out that stuff as you go isntead of being told by a person so hype about the game they can't help themselves from spilling hte beans when recommending you.

If you need these mods to fix a pc game, then you know something went wrong with the pc port. Simply put, lash out at platinum for not fixing it themselves.
Think it is all about money. Since square enix is the publisher, they should be accountable on how much money is used for patches etc.

It's amazing what reshade does to certain games, specifically games that look dull or cloudy. This game and the reshade is a perfect example of this, it's almost like fake HDR.
I know changing the menu is incredibly difficult But I'd like to have the option to add the suits instead of replacing the originals, I wonder why didn't they do it in the first place as a dlc, 2B deserved more clothes, also I recommend the operator mod, with that you 2B gets a cool light suit like the ones used by operators in the bunker, in exchange of the heavy suit, that should have been in the game

Funny I just got this game last week and I don’t know wtf I was waiting for but my god do I love it, I have the FAR mod and the texture mod and it’s running at 60fps, sad that they didn’t do a proper pc release but the mod community saved it.
Just to expand a little, try using reshade and adding MXAO. It adds more ambient oclussion and it makes a lot of difference, game looks really good. Bear in mind, your GPU will take a hit as it is a very taxing FX.

for me there are markings there, but those are just slightly different shades of black (or might be a change in specularity or roughness of the material, not sure about that part) and I've double-checked this 2 seconds ago

because I went through the entire game, did every quest and got every ending (to my knowledge) so please tell me it's a mod thing

Well, a couple of Minutes ago, i sat down and fixed my Version of NieR Automata on PC. Installing those HD Texture Packs, which strangely were already installed, but for whatever Reasons didn't seem to work. After some Research and Toggling i got it to work. Then i installed that Reshader you mentioned and lastly that 2B Texture Mod(btw she looks great with it!)
Everything looks great together, but my framerate dropped down to 30-36fps in Open Field. It's still playable, but for now i keep it like that until i get my new PC.
Btw i REALLY like this Game! I can still entertain you. Even after so many Years. 😍

I just used FAR to fix the resolution, cinematics, global illumination, and bloom effects. The extra stuff mentioned here is very nice, but can't say I care to go any farther than I already have with fixing the game. The only exception might be the texture pack, I do admit the screenshots shown here do look very nice. Not sure if I'll bother though.

I have the texture mod, reshade and of course far installed ... the LOD might be interesting to try to fix the pop in if it allows LOD adjustments. I don't mind them switching into the distance so if I can put the LOD as far out as possible without affecting performance too much that would be great. The only thing I wish worked with reshade which I have to use ansel for is DOF. Since the game has a large amount of fog I find adding the DOF affect off into the distance a nice addition to already obstructed objects.
This looks like if it was a remake made by Bluepoint games. It’s truly stunning.

Hey there...just a suggestion. How about a mod review for nier automata ? I mean this video is 3 years ago ...i personally would be very grateful to see an update on this video. Great content. Easy to follow. Would be very helpful. And its a review so not necessarily fixed on creating a perfect gameplay but rather showing different mod or mods in work solo or together with other mods. Just suggesting . No pressure. Keep up the good work 😁👍
The framerate unlocker affects 2 gameplay related things:
There is a technique that allows the player to do a sprint attack in the air. This has a very specific timing window that is already hard and not even consistent. With a framerate of 144, this timing window becomes so small that it won't even work when using an automatic macro to press the inputs.
There is also the pod helicopter kick, which increases it's speed by 100% per 60fps you go above the usual limit of 60.
However i suggest trying it anyway since it plays like a smoothie and doesn't cause too many problems.
how about the hacking? I tried 30 fps and the hacking feels slow, 60fps and the hacking went flash. How about 144fps? It went insane?
Honestly I would love a mod that makes a Zero (Drakengard 3) character model
I'm going to mod this game almost for sure, it is brilliant but with mods could be even better! And also imho the game should have a co-op mode
