I love the sound of fiberglass claves, they cut so beautifully, even though they aren't super authentic!
GREAT SUBJECT! Thank you Eric!
I love the way you teach -with confidence- keep on trucking.😁😁😁
I LOVE claves. I'm a guitar player and use them in home recording projects as an accent instrument to add some flavor and extra magic to the mixes. A clave clap placed at the right song spot with a touch of reverb added in just hits you in the soul. It amazes me that a simple and ancient instrument can make such a powerful statement in a mix.
Eric loved this!!! I have the meinl classic claves & LP Aspire claves so two different kinds for different tones gotta love it!!!
Thanks for making this... I'm in the market!
Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos 👍
I have the thick solid redwood claves and say if they are held in an open hand / finger grip they are very loud and sharp. The others are not needed if you have their percussion blocks already. Unless you're fussy and after a specific tone.
Redwood african hollow CL3RW is my fav of all of them!
Wood clave classic my favorite but the hollow has more flavor and sings and more versatile. LP has or use to have a fiber glass clave, it cuts through in a live gigs ( it's heavy though).
Hi, Love this, love the channel so much, thank you. Can you break down the pattern that you play at 11 minutes and 8 seconds into this video please? It sounds awesome!! Thanks
So satisfying!
My number one criteria for a clave is how fast it makes my ears ring lol. It's a good and bad thing you know outdoors or in a big venue that's great. Playing along to rumba records and recording indoors.... I mean some sets have my ears ringing for a day in less than 3 minutes.
Nice video friend I was looking for a video like this when I replaced my ear destroying set I went with a small business but I probably would have just got the hollows if I seen this you sold them well.
Eric, I don't think I would buy claves without a physical sound test. I went through maybe 20 pairs when I bought my granadillo rumba claves in Havana, as there was a big variance in tone even though the shapes was identical. Same with the smaller "salsa" claves. I agree that the larger rumba claves were the pick of them. I though those mini-deluxe ones were not up to it, tone-wise. @Alxtago - agreed
Wood clave classic and redwood african hollow
Indeed it does.
Hey brother, you can make small improvements to the way you're holding it, it'll give you a different feel and sound on each one of those. Bless
Lmao I see you leveling up the editing game
I love the hollow one sound or should I say Harlow like Larry Harlow ha ha ha, NO? I'm sorry.
If you're making Afrobeats the CL3RW is literally the sound you're looking for
Great videos bro! I have the regular 8" x1" solid Meinl claves like you except mine are the blonde hardwood not the rosewood. Is it okay if I hit the cowbell with them once in awhile? Like if they get dented will it fuck up the tone? Thanks!
I personally wouldn't use them on a cowbell just out of risk for damaging it as well as hindering the tone it gives.
L261 works for me
9:33 wow
New trend in clave solos! :P
Can teach to play Sway with the claves
1 African hollow 2 classic
