    Very well presented and enjoyable to watch. I liked your comment about over confidence and possibly regretting not taking the earlier deer. I think that lots of us have been there but it's nicer to have a longer stalk and more rewarding.

    • @jonathanperkins5232

      Would add that Peter explains in the video that he has selected this calibre as Sika are notoriously tough to put down, something that the few experienced stalkers I have met have all attested to. Can only speculate but it leads me to suspect that people may be commenting on the title alone, or at the very least not watching until the end. Perhaps with limited or no experience of stalking Sika also.

      @@jonathanperkins5232 Thanks Jonathan for watching and for your comments. You know, sometimes when you set out you choose a rifle and calibre for what you think you might encounter, had I known it would be a hind at 100yards I might have picked up a different rifle/calibre, however, if instead I had encountered a heavy Stag at say 300 yards, I'd have been very pleased to have the 300 Win Mag'. Similarly, I have seen plenty of small Muntjac does get shot with a 30-06 by people who thought they were setting out for Fallow! Perfect hindsight is a beautiful thing. At any rate, many thanks for your comments and for watching!

    • @peterjones4442

      Thanks for the question Allan, I broke down the carcass myself the next day and to be frank the 300 doesn't damage the carcass as much as you might think. First time I've tried Sika as well and it was excellent, I slow cooked the shanks as per Ben's advise in our Butchery class and they were simply delicious!

    What's the reaction of non hunters you meet in Dorset while you're out? I hunt here in Sweden and hunting is part of the culture here and where I live, pretty much exactly where I hunt, the other residents are used to seeing hunters. Is there a different reaction in the UK? I'm from London originally and I know that for many city dwellers that don't hunt the idea of "killing your own meat" is completely foreign and the sight of a hunting rifle is extremely, extremely unusual.

    • @peterjones4442
      @peterjones4442 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Philip, thanks for your comment, there is no denying that the UK is way behind many other countries in terms of public perception of hunting which is fairly mixed. Nonetheless we continue to try and educate and better inform people of the benefits of eating sustainable, wild free-range food rather than the intensively farmed alternative.

      It was my thought to!! I hunt Yukon Alaska moose up here with a 30-06 and lots of people use it and the venerable 308.... 270 also is popular! That said many thinks that they need 300 win mag 300RUM or even 338 win mag or lapua hahaha all that just to wast more meat lol! I have a new to me Ruger no1 in 9.3x62 that I use for bisons(I have yet to have the chance on one) but I believe in heavy for caliber bullets over the magnums, less meat wastage, and they are just as dead!!

    obviously your skilled at what you do but after watching your videos its clear you have ground with high numbers of animals but if your only knocking over ones twos and threes on a daily basis in season its not even denting the problem ie 2000 acres infested with fallow so to cover all this problematic ground do you have teams of shooters working in the background getting the job done ?
