I grew up in Michigan and was chasing salmon since their first initial run back to their home streams. Think I’ve fished for them in every harbor along the coast, but since moving out of state 30 years ago, I haven’t chased Michigan salmon since. Every thing has changed so much and with all the boat docks that look fairly new I could not even begin to tell you the harbor you were in. Maybe Grindstone City or points further south
@@SalmaxKayak I’ve gotten into kayak fishing and rigged my boat up to fish salmon and giant catfish and stripped bass. Being in Southern Indiana now for work I have to plan trips nearly a year in advance. I fished Racine Wisconsin two weeks ago with terrible conditions. Mainly just inside the harbor. Caught one king, lost maybe 10 and missed another 15 hits all on my custom painted baits and spinners. If I could predict when those coho would be in the harbor, I’d call off work for a couple days to fish
When would be a good time to fish there in the fall. Planning my vacation time out for the year and would like to spend a couple days trying it there. Looks perfect for us kayak anglers.
Hey man I'm planning on trolling this spring. I have a small river boat jet sled. 18 ft. Let's get together and fish. I'll need a fishing buddy for three more lines. LOL
Yeah, I hope to keep at it. It's a blast getting out there and seeing what you can stir up. Love to make the vids with my boy to at least use them as memories for later down the line. Thanks for the comment J
Never fished that area before, but would love to try in the next few weeks or month. I’ve been over to the lower Lake Michigan for spring Coho’s in the past. Looking for new places to try. Any advice?? Thanks!!
Things should start taking off in the early spring near ports like Lexington and Port Sanilac. Both have piers and are definitely worth a shot. Good luck if you head out!
Loved the video! Any thoughts on what happened to the Lake Trout in that area? Used to be pretty good in the fall. Obviously I need to switch and target Coho instead:)
I fish the West end of Lake Superior a lot for Salmon and Trout wish they got that big over here.

It's very possible.....but it is very early in the season yet.

Laker numbers at HB in the fall are probably down from the past, but it's still a great fishery.
